Let's list the top five greatest basics of all time!!
5 Ric Flair WWE Flashback- Who doesn't like a suited basic figure and there's not one better than the Nature Boy. Love the shades with this one as well.
4 Ultimate Warrior Wrestlemania Heritage- Love the light blue Warrior! Would like to see this one as an Ultimate. ( No Pun Intended)
3 Hulk Hogan Series 139- The classic mid 80's Hulk with incredible tan included. My buddy heard after the big wigs at Mattel saw this basic figure is when they gave the go ahead to include more articulation, they had no idea basics could be that great.
2 Hulk Hogan Series 142-Speaking of more articulation this figure is starting to take on a life of it's own. People are searching for this figure everywhere
1 Network Spotlight Sting- Is this the best Surfer Sting in the Mattel Line?? I think it is. Better than both of his elites, it's a must own for Sting fans. I have to admit sometime worrying if Sting will sign another Legends deal keeps me up at night. We need more Surfer Stings.

Great thread. Commenters on Ringside's Instagram always whine and complain about Basics when they are the base of the line and nobody is forcing them to buy them.
1) Network Spotlight Sting
2) Summerslam Heritage Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase
3) Summerslam Heritage Sheamus in green
4) Battle Pack 9 DH Smith
5) TNF 2pack Ultimate Warrior

No clue what series any are from but off the top of my head.
Sid Justice. Great figure. Ric Flair 80’s in the suit. Added an nwa title from tna I think. The upcoming Mr T figures. First basics I’ve wanted in many years. Green suited Ted Dibiase. Ring cart Andre the Giant.

I love the Dexter Lumis basic. The face scan is perfect and since he’s been off tv for a while, it may be the only figure we get of him.

The only basics I have are Warrior’s, Billy Gunn and the blue Hart Foundation.
Warrior’s basics really are every bit as good as his elites.

Wow, great thread
I don't really have a top 5, but some of my favorites...
Xia Li. Probably my all time favorite women's basic. They knocked it out of the park with that one.
Dexter Lumis. I agree it's likely the only figure we're ever getting of him and it's great.
Championship Showdown Giant. Seeing as how I missed out on the original Elite, I was SO happy to have this one, and the updated headsculpt is beautiful
That new basic Sami Zayn is just Glorious, or at least looks like it will be. The new articulation makes it even better. I've already bought three different custom cloth good shirts to put on him for different gear looks. I'm gonna need SO many of those.
Nia Jax's first basic set a new standard for how epic basics could be... and then they promptly wrecked the entire line by removing all the articulation.
Suited flashback Flair was amazing. I don't have one personally, but as far as suited basics go, they've never beaten that one. Simple, yet perfect.
Battle Back Return Shane is one of my all time favorite Shane figures, even with the issues. I wish the shoes had been smaller and they'd given him his skinny jeans, but for what it is, it's a great basic.
Funhouse Bray is by far the best Funhouse Bray we ever got. As much of a pegwarmer as that figure was, it was really really good.
The Charlotte went in a drawer, but that "Evil Alexa" figure from the 2-pack was really good. We only got one elite and that basic from that whole run, so I'm very happy to have both.
THE SAUDI SHOW WOMEN'S BASICS! All three of them are in a place of pride on my shelf and if Mattel ever felt like making a bunch more I would buy every single one. I know they aren't most people's cup of tea, but they mean so much to me. I want ALL of them.
I agree on the battle pack LOD figures. Those are awesome.
Ultimate Warrior basics are just elites with less articulation. Every one is spot on, and I don't even collect Warriors.
Wrestlemania Shane goes on this list for me just because I've bought more of that figure than any other just for the heads. It was the only TruFX flashback Shane we ever got. HATE the shirt on the figure, he wore a hockey jersey to that event, not a baseball jersey, but it gets an honorable mention just for the head.
Speaking of that set, the Stephanie from the same set holds a special place in my heart just for giving us a Stephanie we otherwise wouldn't have gotten. We haven't gotten a ton of unique Stephanie figures so I'm grateful for that one.
And speaking of Stephanie, her FTIL suited basic was an Elite in basic packaging, much like suited COO Triple H. You can't even say "They're glorified basics" no, they were literally Elite figures they put in basic packaging. Wonderful.
Battle Pack 49 Mick Foley, and Corporate Mankind. Any time we get a new version of Mick, I'm here for it. I don't even care that these are basics, they're versions of Mick we probably never would have gotten otherwise and they put extra work in them to make them special. Love them. Have them both.
Do I love the Michelle McCool basic? No. Am I infinitely grateful we got it, YES. It's the only one of her we ever got from Mattel, so I'm VERY happy to have her.
I'm not into playsets, but I would LOVE to have the Ambrose Asylum set. Especially that straight jacket.
NXT Takeover Sami, Kevin, and Eva Marie. That was the best Eva they made, and we never got Elites of debut Sami and Kevin. Although in this case, it's SPECIFICALLY the Takeover version of Kevin. I know the Sami and I believe the Eva were both rereleases, but the original Kevin basic had the worst head known to man so the Takeover rerelase with the updated head is the one I love.
This list could go on forever but I want to conclude with a message of "pour one out for the canceled Takeover series 3 and Wrestlemania 40 wave". Both of those would have been EPIC, it makes me so angry that we never got any of those figures. (I mean, we may still get the WM40 ones, but I'm not holding my breath).

In one interview Steve said they will try their best to release those WM40 basics. I'm following everything related to this situation because I was really hyped for this set and it's a shame that after so many years a big anniversary WM doesn't get a basic set released. From a marketing stand point they made great choices by including two current main champions / WM 40 main eventers (Rollins and Reigns) as well as two well known celebrities (Ali and Batista). I think there are three possibilities. 1. If the WM Series didn't get cancelled entirely they might just return as WM 41 series in different packaging. 2. They might find other way to release them for WM season since it's the show's anniversary and WWE might want more WM related merch. Maybe they could be included in some multi-pack, ring or playset (I would love to see some kind of WM 40 legacy pack with all four figures included). 3. The last possibility is that they will just release all or some of these figures in differents sets not WM related. I think there is a really big chance that the upcoming Series 146 Reigns might be the one from WM 40 which probably was going to have WM 39 gear (first red boots Reigns). If that's true Rollins, Ali and Batista might follow in later sets.

Fox is essentially an elite for the price of a basic. Since the women basics had elite articulation and she comes with her entrance gear. Great Khali we never got the elite. This figure was massive and towered over nearly everything in ur collection. All unique mold. And the duller color maroon color looks good. Bunny is a unique one off character that never gets an elite. All new molds. Hornswoggle is also essentially an elite figure for a basic price. Elite articulation. Comes with an accessory. All unique molds created just for him. Mike Knox is just a good looking figure. If this just had the leg articulation he would be perfect. I love basics that never got elites. They got all the proportions correct

1. The new John Cena with the baseball cap. The t-shirt is done the way t-shirted basic Cena figures should’ve been done the whole time.
2. Two-packs series 1 Santino Marella
3. Basic 29 (World Champions) Ultimate Warrior
4. WeeLC-era Hornswoggle from the two-pack with El Torito
5. Stone Cold Steve Austin from the new two-pack with Triple H … or the Santino with the cobra hand
