This is a mania that seems to have gone through a bunch of changes as well. Card actually seems better originally.
Boss Man vs Rude LOD vs Power and Glory (for the tag belts) Perfect vs Bret Hart for the IC title Valentine vs Honky Tonk Man
Of course listening to Prichard listening he said in hindsight they should have done Warrior vs Macho title vs career.
Leaves out Hogan though, i know about the Hogan vs Tugboat rumors or killing off Hogan vs Earthquake, although the feud was on fumes at this point.

If that's how Wrestlemania 7 originally was set to be, I am glad it got changed around to what it ended up becoming.

Taker/Tugboat was another match changed as it was hyped up in the early build
Warrior/Mach was better off not for the title. Made it more personal that way with both careers on the line

lookin back, id have loved these:
Boss Man vs Rude LOD vs Power and Glory (for the tag belts) Valentine vs Honky Tonk Man taker vs tugboat
really wanted to see bosman vs rude LOD vs P&G for belts wouold mean PNG won them earlier so thatd been awesome for me that they had the belts for a minute at least rythm & blues slpit up dont right with greg/honky taker/tugboat better than taker/snuka
trhey really shoulda broght steambopat back in big fashion and had him go against mr perfewct for the belt here then keep hatrs vs nasty boys as a reg tag match
they could have also had rude turn on perfect/heenan and we got that match and fued, instead of rude leaving which would be a dream come true for me there

That was why the rockers were supposed to win the belts in October, to start Bret’s singles push, and the rockers were gonna have a short reign and lose them to P&G. Inbetween the tapings where the rope broke, Neidhart politiced to keep the belts, Bret fought to retape the match instead of editing the current one, and they signed the Nasty Boys so ultimately the whole thing was scrapped.

Is this legit?I've never heard or read that these matches were originally planned. And Rude was long gone, leaving some time before the Survivor Series.

He doesn't need to win the belt, they could do something similar with Andre coming down to the ring, and a DQ finish. But getting Steamboat vs. Perfect on a big PPV would have been incredible. A redo of WM7:
Rockers vs. Demolition the Big Boss Man vs. Dino Bravo British Bulldog vs. the Warlord (Tag team title match) Legion of Doom vs. Power & Glory
Greg Valentine vs. the Honky Tonk Man (blindfold match) Jake the Snake vs. Rick Martel Jimmy Snuka vs. the Undertaker (retirement match) Ultimate Warrior vs. Macho King Tugboat & Bushwhackers vs. Earthquake & Nasty Boys Bret Hart vs. Rick Rude (IC title match) Ricky Steamboat vs. Mr. Perfect Virgil (or the Texas Tornado) vs. the Million Dollar Man Chico Santana vs. the Mountie (WWF title match) Hulk Hogan vs. Sgt. Slaughter

Neidhart had been let go hadn't he? They had to rehire him to put the straps back on the Harts. This weeks episode of Something to Wrestle With is about the Hart Foundation team & Prichard is all talk about this.

WrestleMania VII is one of my all time favorite events and it had my all time favorite match with Warrior vs Savage, the build, the entrances, the match and the ending are perfect some of the best pro wrestling story telling of all time. I could not have been any more invested in this as a kid.
I like the whole event, the only things I would have changed were that I would have had the LOD vs Demolition, even if it was just a squash like they did Powe & Glory. Demolition being destroyed by the LOD would have been a good way to call an end to the team.

Neidhart had been let go hadn't he? They had to rehire him to put the straps back on the Harts. This week's episode of Something to Wrestle With is about the Hart Foundation team & Prichard is all talk about this. I remember reading this years ago. Either Anvil was fired, or his contract was coming up, so they wanted to get the titles off of the Hart's before that time. Then the match happened with the ropes breaking, which Vince didn't like, and Anvil either was re-hired or resigned with the company. So, because of those two things, they decided to put the belts back on the Hart's and either not air the match, or air an edited portion of the match. I also remember hearing that they didn't air the match, but since a live audience saw the title switch that had to fix that, so on either Superstars or Wrestling Challenge that aired in just that market/city they explained that the title switch was negated because of the rope breaking mid-match. WrestleMania VII is one of my all time favorite events and it had my all time favorite match with Warrior vs Savage, the build, the entrances, the match and the ending are perfect some of the best pro wrestling story telling of all time. Demolition being destroyed by the LOD would have been a good way to call an end to the team. Yeah, I really liked this WrestleMania. And that match is still one of my all-time favorites to this day. Everything about it was excellent, some of the best storytelling the WWF has ever done. That probably would have been better, have the LOD put the final nail in the coffin of Demolition at WM7. It would have been fitting. They could have had Mr. Fuji walk out on them in the match to show that even he has given up on them, ala Heenan and the Brian Busters from a few years earlier. Power & Glory could have wrestled Kitao and Tenryu instead. Or have Power & Glory face the Rockers, and Haku & Barbarian face Kitao and Tenryu.

Hard to believe the Sheik Tugboat thing was actually part of their plans.
The WWF was cooling off from their massive 80s surge at that point and about to endure a transition phase. Just look at the roster from early 1991 compared to the end of 1992.

What happened to Demolition was a travesty While most would agree that Demolition without Ax just wasn't the same, it was still sad seeing them get jobbed out in a meaningless filler match against two unknowns especially when you consider the heights they were at just a year prior at WrestleMania VI. They got one of the biggest pops of the night! Definitely a shame they went out on such a low note.
