We used the have the Hara Arena, home of such classics as the 1993 King Of The Ring and ECW Heatwave. Hate that they tore it down but tornado damage did it no favors. KOTR was at the Nutter Center. Hara had GAB 95 and Heatwave like you said That’s right. Sorry brain fog has been kicking my ass the last few days. Haha

What I don't understand is why they renamed it to the Allstate Arena. Same with the Skydome, which sounded awesome, but is now known as the Rogers Centre, which sounds completely ridiculous. To me it will always be the Rosemont Horizon and the Skydome. Part of it is nostalgia, I guess...

For me, it has to be the old Meadowlands Arena/Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, NJ. It was the venue that hosted SummerSlam in 1989 as well as 1997 which was the first PPV I ever attended live. My first-ever wrestling show also took place there which was part of a house show loop in July 1994 dubbed the "WWF Summer Sizzler Tour." Still have the picture of me and my brother sitting in our seats rocking some brand-new Hitman shades. Is it still abandoned? I know it hasnt hosted wrestling in years I don't think that place has hosted anything in nearly a decade. Just an old landmark off 1-95 at this point.

Plus, with companies purchase naming rights to the stadiums and arenas, that gives the sports team more money and/or helps the team pay for the arena/stadium. While I understand the reasoning for it, I still prefer the old names, some of the company names are ridiculous. Here is the reasoning for the Skydome change (from Wikipedia): The stadium was renamed "Rogers Centre" following the 2005 purchase of the stadium by Rogers Communications, the corporation that also owns the Toronto Blue Jays. And for the Rosemont Horizon change (also from Wikipedia): Insurance company Allstate signed a 10-year contract worth more than $10 million on June 9, 1999, to acquire naming rights to the arena and renovate it.

I'll leave it up to Grenouille to reminisce about this building... The true Mecca of pro-Basketball.

Lots of great memories in the old barn when it comes to the Bruins, Celtics and of course the WWF. My first live event here was in June '89 with a Hogan-Savage main event. Savage won via CO, but in the end you know how it goes, Hogan must pose. Another memory is my uncle taking me and my cousin to Survivor Series '93. Getting out of school early was awesome even if the show itself wasn't the best. One thing I liked when seeing the Garden on TV was all the banners in the rafters. Later on I learned the reason there were so many Bruins banners was because they were jealous of the Celtics success. Red Auerbach would only hang a banner for a world championship and they won many, the Bruins would hang one for blowing their nose just to keep up. Yep, for a while, the Celtics and Lakers would only hang championship banners, not conference or division banners. I believe they were the only two teams to do that.

Still the same in the new place for the Celtics, just championships/retired numbers. The Bruins have cleaned up their end with the 6 Stanley Cup banners and one banner each for Division/Conference listing them all.

Got to catch a couple shows before it got replaced but most notable was Schiller suspending Bischoff. All 4 Nitro's and the couple of Raw's WWF did along with WM 27 and numerous Monster Jam events.

Mania 17/Houston Astrodome. The nostalgia for me of just looking at this picture is priceless. I always loved the arenas that had that "special look" to it. You just knew by looking at the show where they were. Old Days MSG, Astrodome, the old Atlantic City convention hall in Jersey always had that big flag on it. Always loved going down to the beach before the show, had such a different vibe.

Gotta throw these out there: The Astrodome. While it didn't host a lot of wrestling events, it did host WM17 (the apex of the Attitude Era): Still haven't forgiven them for doing this in Texas: The old Summit Arena, where the Houston Rockets played, was usually the host of WWF events in Houston - most notably the 1989 Royal Rumble. And, we can't forget the Sam Houston Coliseum, the site on Paul Boesch's Houston Wrestling. A lot of famous wrestlers appeared here: Dusty Rhodes, Terry Funk, Ted DiBiase, Dory Funk, Johnny Valentine, Jim Duggan, Bruiser Brody, Superfly Snuka, Ken Patera, Gino Hernandez, Tully Blanchard, Andre the Giant, Ernie Ladd, Jose Lothario, Mil Mascaras, Blackjack Mulligan, JYD, Jake the Snake, Wahoo McDaniel, Ric Flair, and Harley Race. Also, Houston is where "Buddy Rogers" was born. Prior to that, he wrestled under the name Dutch Rhode. Prior to the Summit and the Astrodome, the Sam Houston Coliseum was the venue for bigtime music performances, such as the Beatles, Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, Bruce Springsteen, KISS, and the Doors:

Also, one of the re-matches of Steamboat/Savage after WM3 took place in the Sam Houston Coliseum. This was during the period in 1987 when Vince was trying to buy Paul Boesch's promotion, so a lot of WWF guys appeared in Houston during this time.

Its had 3 name changes since opening back in 96 CoreStates(original name), First Union, Wachovia and Wells Fargo. I'm expecting #4 sometime in the near future...
