My personal favorite Survivor Series event is 1989 from the Rosemont Horizon. What I don't understand is why they renamed it to the Allstate Arena. Same with the Skydome, which sounded awesome, but is now known as the Rogers Centre, which sounds completely ridiculous. To me it will always be the Rosemont Horizon and the Skydome. Part of it is nostalgia, I guess... That is now commonplace for sports arenas and stadiums. Companies purchase rights to the stadium, so they put their name on the stadium as advertisement. Plus, with companies purchase naming rights to the stadiums and arenas, that gives the sports team more money and/or helps the team pay for the arena/stadium. While I understand the reasoning for it, I still prefer the old names, some of the company names are ridiculous. Here is the reasoning for the Skydome change (from Wikipedia): The stadium was renamed "Rogers Centre" following the 2005 purchase of the stadium by Rogers Communications, the corporation that also owns the Toronto Blue Jays. And for the Rosemont Horizon change (also from Wikipedia): Insurance company Allstate signed a 10-year contract worth more than $10 million on June 9, 1999, to acquire naming rights to the arena and renovate it.Thanks for the detailed info, man. I understand now, but as I said earlier,I prefer the original names. Skydome or Roger's Centre, come on, that's a no-brainer.

Yeah I remember him doing interviews where he said he would never get back into wrestling. It was all minor league baseball for em. I guess he got that itch and here we are...

MKSavage any word on what they're doing with the Astrodome? I've seen pics/YT videos showing it's just rotting away... Sadly, nothing yet. Right now, it is considered a historical landmark, so they cannot tear it down without the Texas Historical Commissions approval. About a decade ago, the Harris County Commissioners office did have a plan for it, they were going to turn it into a multi-purpose park for events in the Harris County/Houston area. However, the judge in Harris County basically scrapped the whole thing, nothing else has been proposed since. From Wikipedia: On January 27, 2017, the Texas Historical Commission voted unanimously to designate the dome a State Antiquities Landmark. Under the designation, the Astrodome may no longer be removed, altered, damaged, salvaged, or excavated without a permit from the commission. The Harris County Commissioners voted to approve a $105 million renovation plan on February 13, 2018. This plan keeps the parking garage from the Revitalization Project. Construction was set to start in October 2018 and would be completed sometime in 2020. The construction start date was later moved to early 2019 and was expected to finish in 2020. However, as of September 2019, the plan was put on hold with no word when construction might take place. It was announced in November 2019 that the Revitalization Project has been scrapped by Commissioners Court Judge Lina Hidalgo. Hidalgo explained that "The plan that had been designed wouldn't have yielded truly a usable building". As of November, there have been no new plans for the Astrodome.

It looked awesome for Mania X7 They tried; they had an agreed upon $105 million dollar plan to rejuvenate the building, getting it up to code and making it into an all-purpose arena for Harris County, then the new judge scrapped the plans. It took a lot of doing to get the agreed upon plan to rejuvenate the building, now we're back to square one.
