I don't understand why he doesn't get more hype here. Seriously, this is crapwe as indy fans have seen attempted horribly and slowly multiple times in promotions here. Dude does everything like a ing video game. At 2:09, I really thought that could only be done in Fire Pro.

Mistico isn't actually that good. It's more down to his opponents. Given the right opponent (Averno, Black Warrior etc.) he can be really good, but if he has an opponent that doesn't mesh with him, he's really bad, and quite sloppy.
Ps, he often has the right opponenets, don't get me wrong. But in some six man matches on CMLL TV, he occasionally looks bad.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Mistico recently sought after by WWE?

No it's not. It's mentioned quite frequently other than here. Let's face it: CZWfans and WF isn't exactly an end all be all for indie wrestling discussion.
Besides, is someone straight out of No Mercy or something really going to get over long term in the indies? I mean, the IWC shits on BJ Whitmer for using a No Mercy type of offense and if Mistico is, as you say, like straight out of a video game...that's not NECESSARILY a good thing.

...how so? His name is BARELY mentioned at all on the internetz. Dude, about a year or two ago, EVERYTHING was about Mistico. I think he even won like... three WON awards last year. That being said, I think the hype is unwarranted. I mean, he is good and all, but he's really only as good as the base he's flipping against, as Guru said.

That was a really good video. I think a lot of matches are better if they are shown in highlight format.

Yes. He does a lot of head dropping stuff and a lot of times it seems in a pattern that doesn't make sense.
Like BJ played No Mercy a few times and decided to incorporate all of the cool looking moves in his matches. Or he just watched Jun Akiyama a lot.

Since when are those the only places I visit? I spend more time on DVDVR than CZWFans and here, and on the ROH board and PWG board too. There are really no other places besides DVDVR for a lot of wrestling-talk. Plus, no one on here even cares about anything beyond like what ROH DVD's are good, and IWA-MS results. There is barely any talk of actual wrestling, why a match was good, why this guy is good, etc. That's why I really like DVDVR so much more. Plus, like 85% of this board doesn't even know who a guy like Akira Taue is.

Dude, Dean...no offense, but you're kind of off base here. You really didn't talk about why Mistico is "good". You put up a link and said "this is cool crapthat we don't get elsewhere."

85% don't give a crapwho Akira Taue is. The only time I saw him he was in a multiman match with Voodoo Murders and he was god aweful. Slow, and boring and shit.

85% don't give a **** who Akira Taue is. The only time I saw him he was in a multiman match with Voodoo Murders and he was god aweful. Slow, and boring and ****. You have no soul. Taue has shifts between being a lazy old bastard and being amazing nowadays. That was during a downshift, but current day Taue can't touch classic Taue. Anything in the 90s is guaranteed great. He's also had some good matches in NOAH in the past couple years (VS Marufuji, w/ Kobashi VS Akiyama/Tenryu which was awesome, VS Morishima, VS Rikio, I could go on...) Sorry for derailing the thread.

Don't worry. It's just I'm fed up of Dean riding the guy lately and really, what's knowledge of Akira Taue or being a puro smark have to do with someones credibility of wrestling knowledge?
Screw those guys, they don't even know who Akira Taue is!
So what? There's plenty of good wrestling on Canadian, U.S and U.K soil for wrestling fans to watch and be able to have a valid opinion on rather than just stuff that happens in Japan. Sometimes I think some people just like it or pretend it's so great for the simple fact it's Japanese.
Seriously, ridiculous.

But way to many people straddle anything remotely japanese.

Taz- Nah, I was a casual kinda fan back in 2005-ish. Didn't know as much as I do now, but I remember watching matches like Takayama vs. KENTA and absolutely loving it. I only really got into around the end of last year, as I kinda got bored with most of the US stuff. Chris- "Riding" Taue? Honestly, what the are you talking about? I mentioned him once before I think, posting the news about his title shot and saying I grew to like him this year. And I don't "straddle" anything Japanese, either. I wrote a BIG critique on the ever-praised DG 14-man tag, can not get into any NJPW, have no interest in AJPW, and really haven't seen much from any indies beyond BJPW. I only regularly follow NOAH. And the whole point of my post was the fact that Mistico does a lot of stuff smoother, faster, and crisper than anyone that tries it here.
