Recently he has had pinfall victories over Roderick Strong, capturing the FIP Heavyweight Title, Austin Aries and last night Bryan Danielson! That's right...the American Dragon.
What does everyone think of his push? Him in general?
Personally, he's not my kind of wrestler. He's all power moves. Sure he executes them well, and his match with Morishima was half decent in terms of him showing his power, but he lacks any character.
He's just blah. Even the fans are not 100% behind him. Look at Delirious. Great technical wrestler, not huge or powerful, but has a great character, 100% over with every crowd he is infront of and is stuck in the openers. Shame.
I cannot believe he's gone over Aries and Dragon in one weekend though. That's just....urgh. People should go over in the long run, showing a gradual rise. Not just rocket up and beat former ROH World Champs.

I really wasn't a fan of him until Friday night. He put on one of the best matches I've ever seen with Aries. It's funny how one match can completely change your aspect on a wrestler.

I've been warming up to Erik Stevens lately, same with Brent Allbright. I want to see a good solid match between Stevens and Whitmer though. That'd be awesome.

I started to like Stevens after watching his match with Strong at Man Up... I think his wrestling style is a refreshing change, much like comic relief in drama. While everyone is doing japanese-inspired stiff kicks, technical holds, and aerial spots... Stevens is a throwback to the american style powerhouse. I do think he should've lost to Aries in their first meeting, and never should've beat Danielson clean at this point.

Erick is a phenomenal wrestler that gets overlooked due to his size. He's going to have a huge 2008, and like several others he'll be liked by the majority because he's pushed.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I find myself very bored by him. I sat in the front row at Man Up & found myself yawning during most of the Strong/Stevens match. I figured he would of won me over by now, but it hasnt happended yet

I like Stevens but I don't think clean wins over Aries and Dragon was smart. I honestly think he'd be a great heel.

Aries losing will start his heel turn. Dragon losing is going to add the story of Dragon/Nigel. The angle will be that Dragon is in a slump and will Nigel finally be able to beat him. Anyone who thought Stevens would lose the belt this weekend was a moron.

I don't like him, I think that the American Dragon should have won, but he is getting somewhat better in my eyes, but I have not gained full respect of him yet.

I'm not a fan of Stevens. He's only pushed because he's frineds with Gabe. Opps, I bet I pissed someone off now...

How do you know he's buddy buddy with Gabe? Do you know him? Does he call you at home?

Why do you think the whole FIP roster is booked now? You realize that most people in the locker room is buddy buddy with Gabe, right? This coming from a guy that works for FIP, not someone with a source. Erick has worked his butt off over the years to get where he is. I'm glad he's getting some sort of limelight.

AOJ is 100% correct, I've never been around a group that is politics free but ROH is certainly very close. Erick is being pushed because he's worked very hard and he's earned it. Everyone in the locker room is friends with Gabe because that's conusive to a positive working environment. When the boys feel they are on equal footing with management that's a positive. Besides if the entire FIP roster was booked, you'd be seeing Mad Man Pondo, Gran Akuma, Allison Danger, The Heartbreak Express, Black Market, and several others, and wouldn't be seeing Aries, Danielson, Hero, etc.

ROH should put forth an effort to keep the product fresh, but I'm quite fine with seeing Hero, and being spared Gran Akuma. Or Watching Danielson wrestle Aries, and not baring witness to a Heartbreak Express-Black Market, classic.

Aries, Danielson, and Hero do not work FIP and if everyone from FIP worked ROH then you wouldn't see those 3 or several others.
