Do you do it? Do you feel it should be banned every where?
Personally i believe that there are too many things that are done nowadays to accomidate* smokers. Smoking sections in food establishments, Actual sanctioned* smoke breaks for employees, ect. With anything else this could be one of those as long as it doesnt effect me i dont care type of things but the fact here is that it does effect other people in horrible ways.
So how do you feel about it.

It's a stupid habit. All teenagers who smoke do it just to look cool. I hope it gets banned world-wide.

I don't smoke but I do believe that people have a right to. People can blow smoke from their cars into the air unpunished. So whats some cig smoke doing? Nothing. Second hand smoke has no connection to cancer.

I personally dont like the whole idea of smoking. What's so good about it anyway? People dont have to do it, But why do they do it? Theres no point to it, and it harms you. I cant even stand being in the car with my grandmother when she's smoking. My grandfather on my dads side of the family said he used to smoke when he was in his 20's, But was able to quit. It's disgusting, And something i dont plan on doing, Ever.

People can smoke if they want, but my right to be comfortable where I am, be that a restaurant, a workplace, or a store entrance, is greater than their right to smoke wherever they want.

Anything we do can be considered a stupid habit. Banning smoking is a ban on rights. I don't smoke but I do believe that people have a right to. People can blow smoke from their cars into the air unpunished. So whats some cig smoke doing? Nothing. Second hand smoke has no connection to cancer. AHEM...... u. I've never smoked and my lungs are black as hell. My aunt died from cancer cause by second hand smoke. Smokers breath in the smoke so saying second hand smoke doesnt cause cancer is like saying smoking doesnt cause cancer. And again............. YOU Based on the lack of scientific evidence, there is no conclusive data which says secondhand smoke causes cancer. There have been dozens of scientific studies linking secondhand to everything from asthma to heart disease. Yet the biggest and most controversial “affect” of secondhand smoke has been its link to cancer. But is there scientific proof that secondhand smoke actually causes cancer in non-smokers? The short answer, no. One of the most widely used studies on the effects of secondhand smoke was done by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in a report titled Respiratory Health Effects of Passive Smoke: Lung Cancer and Other Disorders, published in 1992. Based on information at that time, the reported concluded that secondhand smoke is responsible for 3,000 deaths of non smokers each year. Yet by 1998 a U.S. federal court found that the EPA demonstrated no link between secondhand smoke and cancer. Even more so, the court found that the EPA “...’cherry picked’ it’s data,’ to reach their predetermined conclusion. In other words, they lied. And yet even after a federal court deemed the report to be complexly wrong, organizations such as the American Cancer Society and the American Lung Association still use the EPA study as their primary source to prove that secondhand smoke causes cancer. "We found no measurable effect from being exposed to secondhand smoke and an increased risk of heart disease or lung cancer in nonsmokers -- not at any time or at any level," lead researcher James Enstrom, PhD, MPH, of the UCLA School of Public Health, tells WebMD. "The only thing we did find, which was not reported in the study, is that nonsmokers who live with smokers have a increased risk of widowhood because their smoking spouses do die prematurely." In an editorial titled Smoking Does Not Cause Lung Cancer, published in the October 1999 issues of the Journal of Theoretics author By: James P. Siepmann, MD said that there are many constituting factors to cancer, but none are responsible for “causing” the disease “The process of developing cancer is complex and multifactorial. It involves genetics, the immune system, cellular irritation, DNA alteration, dose and duration of exposure, and much more. Some of the known risk factors include genetics asbestos exposure, sex, HIV status, vitamin deficiency, diet pollution , shipbuilding and even just plain old being lazy. When some of these factors are combined they can have a synergistic effect, but none of these risk factors are directly and independently responsible for "causing" lung cancer” As Siepmann points out in his editorial if these reports said that secondhand smoke “increases the risk of developing cancer” than perhaps that would be a little easier to swallow. But to say that secondhand smoke causes cancer has no concrete scientific merit. There is little doubt that the 50 are so chemicals found in secondhand smoke are harmful to some degree, but to influence people and create laws based on data which was proven to be inaccurate, is simply too big to ignore. Perhaps Dr. Siepmann put it best when he said, “We must weigh the risk and benefits of the behavior both as a society and as an individual based on unbiased information. Be warned though, that a society that attempts to remove all risk terminates individual liberty and will ultimately perish. Let us be logical in our endeavors and true in our pursuit of knowledge.” So I say.... Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

i smoke, i suppose i do it to look cool? um, no. i like the little boost of serotonin, a cigarette is great when you're drinking, it's really in my lifestyle, and i smoke pot and it goes well with it - i just generally like to smoke, it's relaxing for me. i don't smoke where i am not supposed to and i like that people don't smoke in restaurants. it'll never get banned because of the size of it's industry.

I'm a teenager, I smoke. How? I got offered one, liked it, and just worked my way through there. "All teens smoke to look cool" is an incredibly stupid statement, and one which has little to no back-up apart from opinion. However, I don't like to smoke when I'm around people that are eating, because that's good manners and if my friend doesn't want my smoke in their face I try to move away. Aside from that nobody really seems to have a problem with me smoking. It's a choice, and yes, it may be stupid to choose to smoke, I want to so I do. Try and stop me.

I love that you guys havent turned this into a jackass filled flame-off. Keep'em comin', this is very interesting. Simply stating that the "evidence" given to show second smoke cause cancer was biased and cherry picked. that wasnt sarcasm, i was serious, you guys are being very mature about it.

I think people should be able to smoke if they want, and what they want.

i dont like when others smoke around me but it shouldnt be banned. as someone stated before, people do a lot stupid things but they have a right to do it except going to the extreme and killing, raping, harassing someone.
