No, they shouldn't have to.... On the converse, the rest of us shouldn't have to make special arrangements for them.

I find it rude if other people freely choose to come to other countries and don't learn the language. If say a Japanese person came to work in England, they should be able to talk their friends and others in Japanese as long as the others know japanese but they should also be expected to speak good English to an English person rather than trying to talk to you in Japanese. If I moved to Japan I would not hesitate to learn Japanese as that's the national language.

But here in America, due to our bullcrap"we all descended from immigrants, so let's never alienate anybody ever, because that would make us hypocrites" mentality, we've never declared a national language.

English isnt our national language? Nope, despite the fact that it's the primary language of all our road signage, media, and stand mixer instruction manuals, it's never been officially declared the national language, because that might alienate the people who don't speak it.

Yes they should. It would be the right thing to do. Especially when you work the counter at McDonalds and need to understand the order given to you. Makes you want to walk into a McDonalds and hold up a badge and yell immigration.

First immigrants in ENGLAND need to learn english ... but yea, if you are accepted into a country in the view of getting a better life, the least you can do is learn the language. I understand that english techically isn't the national language in America, but i personally think its bollocks that it isn't

Yes, no question about it. When someone goes on vacation to a foreign country, they bring a book to learn that country's language. Immigrants that come here should do the same. There's a hardcore Spanish guy at my work and we're teaching him English, so far he just says "Hello how are you?" to every question.

We come from the land of the ice and snow, from the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
