Earlier today I popped in Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. It's one of my favorite horror flicks ever. Bill Mosely's performance is freaking awesome. I love the Chop Top Character. He's hilarious in a creepy kind of way. I love how he goes from one mood to the next and back again within seconds. Great character.
"Leatherface! Did you get her Bubba? Did you get that bitch? She was my fav...but but she knew...and now...Noooobody knews. hehe. ahhh...Look what you did to my plate YOU BITCH!.....You got her? Did you get her good? Slap me five! I got one too....A BONUS BODY!!! Look at that beef!"

Halloween 4 and 5 was on TV a few nights ago. It was awesome. I love watching those flicks on TV, for some reason. I mean, I have the DVD's and all but seeing them on TV gives each movie a different feel. I don't know, maybe I'm just weird. BTW, I like the Part 5 mask. I'm one of the few that do. And also, one of my favorite moments in the series is in Part 5. I can't help but crack up every single time I see Michael going flying down the rapids at the beginning of the film. Hillarious.

It sucks because Halloween went so fast for me.
It's just so cool to see the films on TV. It's better than putting in the DVD. It doesn't seem as authentic when I pop in the DVD.

I watched The Skeleton Key last night. It wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been. The ending was kinda cool.
Plus any movie where you see Kate Hudson in her underwear is fine with me.

Skeleton Key was an alright movie..nothing amazing. My uncle says its the absolute best horror movie he has seen this year..i told him he was on crack for thinking that. It was alright though..cool ending/twist. My fav. christmas movie is Silent Night Deadly Night...i heard that new christmas horror movie Santas Slay is terrible..but i will rent it anyways just to see how bad it is...

I like Silent Night, Deadly Night 4 directed by Brian Yuzna the best. But I'll do a whole list of holiday horror movies in the next week or so. Nothing better to do.
In the meantime, I'll do my review of Doom, which is ultimately more sci-fi oriented....but screw it.
Doom (2005) Directed by Andrezj Bartowiak Written by Dave Callaham & Wesley Strick
I was never the Klebold type Doom fan, but I enjoyed the game to an extent and have fond memories of playing it on one of my first PC's. Along with Duke Nukem. (which is supposedly also still being made, with the Rock) I wasn't thrilled about the Rock being in this movie, but I wasn't angry either. I suppose it fits, he's not the greatest actor, and like Arnold before him he knows that and chooses his projects accordingly. Plus, like Arnold he envisions himself as a big hero and will probably run for office one day. But that's beside the point.
The film is a bit different than I remember the game plotwise, although all I really remember in the game was shooting ****. I remember them being demons, but in this they're aliens and super-genetics turn people into alien-zombies. So it's one of those movies. I'm actually glad they went about it this way, more Starship Troopers than House of the Dead. But it still has it's cheese moments. The photography is grand, those polish sure do know how to shoot and frame their damn movies. The writing is sub-par, but this is a video game movie folks, and the writers pretty much pulled the story out of their asses...so for that they get an A+ because it pretty much all makes sense, which seems to be a feat that most horror movies can't get over. Not to mention the gore.
Doom is an R rated movie for a reason, I'm sure it got the hard R that the studio mandated, but there will most likely be an uncut one these days with that being popular on DVD. Which is cool by me. But yeah, on the fact that it's R rated....lots of gory gun deaths, some pretty gory creature deaths, and blood all over the place. Which is where movies like Resident Evil failed terribly.
The acting is alright, Karl Urban (John "Reaper" Grimm) looks strikingly like Colin Farrel, which is almost distracting because you look for his accent. And none. Oh well. He has the most kick ass 2 minutes in the movie, where he loads up and we take his point of view in first person shooter mode, just like the game, and he blasts the ever-loving **** out of everything that moves. I didn't pay to see this movie, but I glady would now. These 2 minutes (or less) make the whole thing worth watching. And of course The Rock does a heel turn and you get to see the two main characters face off. Which isn't really a spoiler, but it's worth watching.
Overall, the photography, the effects, the blood/gore, and the first person shooter footage makes this my favorite action video game-to-movie adaptation yet. While it might not be exactly true to the story, it's true in feel. Which is all I can ask in the movie version of a mindless video game I suppose.
8.5/10

That Hills Have Eyes poster sucks.....straight up. Look at the original and then look at that. God damn, it tells nothing about the movie, except that it's horror. Either way, it's Aja's ability that's up for test, he got his NC-17 like he thought, and I'm glad to see he was pissed as well as I was.
