Anyone check out Strange? New comic, with a beefed up version of the original Dr. Strange story. I was never a big Dr. Strange fan, but this comic seems kind of appealing. Is that out? I was planning on picking that up, but I didn't see it yet. J. Michael Stracy-whatever is doing an amazing job on Amazing, so I have no doubt he'd do a great Strange. jackal is gone for good man it cant be the jackal....plus the goblin cover gives it away.....it has to be a harry norman thing.....which i love. Name one character that has appeared numerous times, besides Uncle Ben and Bucky, that has been "gone for good." Death is never the end in comics. And covers can be quite misleading...

I agree completely. On a related note, when I went to the comic store to buy Astonishing 4, I overheard the owner telling someone he'd sell them a variant for cover price. I wasn't aware there was a variant, so I inquired as to whether I could get one. Then he pulled it out, and to my horror, Colossus was on the cover, which completely spoiled the end of the issue for me. Spoilers suck. We should all try to be considerate of that. P.S. I ended up going with the standard cover cause I thought it looked cooler. I have the first issue variant cover with a full shot of Wolverine on it. The guy gave it to me for free since I got my wisdom teeth out. Great guy “GIFTED” 5 (OF 6) As demand for the "mutant cure" reaches near-riot levels, the X-Men finally go head to head with Ord, with an unexpected ally -- and some unexpected adversaries -- tipping the scales. What do you think that means? Maybe I am reading too much into it but by tipping the scales do they mean a bigger badguy? Someone like Mojo or The Blob maybe? Or am I just looking to much into it? I love this book.

The full comic is on Mile High Comics... check it out casuse if you don't like it its not worth $3 When your part of the reason most people left Spiderman in the 90's your usually stay dead lol. Too many people would be mega po'd

Ben Reilly's in Ultimate Spider-Man, right? All it takes is a new aproach or a good reason to bring back a charcter with an unpopular past. And I never said The Jackal would be coming back. I just said I thought he was the father.

I just said I thought he was the father. Ben Reilly is a black dude in Ultimate... however he nicknamed Carnage "Little Ben" and now has a blood sample of Parkers so chances are we could see Scarlet Spider vs. Spider-Man. I've love it. I'm a clone saga mark too the bone... infact I just won The Osborn Journal off ebay

Found a new comic book store today. Nice! Let me tell you. And very helpful. Looked for everything I asked for. If you are ever in Putman, CT check out Wonderland Comics. Here is what I picked up: Harley Quinn Batman figure form Japan (?) (I don't know much about this. But it looks great. Less of a figure and more McFarlene style.) Astonishing X-Men 3 and 4 (Don't really read X-Man. But I have to check it out because it is by Whedon. I now have to find 1 and 2, if I can.) Amazing Spider-Man 511 (I am 10 issues behind and have even more issues than that to read to catch up. But the cover caught my eye. Not going to spoil it. If you have seen the cover you know what I am talking about.) Venom 9, 11, 12 (Trying to catch up.) random Batman Adventures (See above.) Venom electronic talking figure (Banned for saying "I want to eat your brain." The guy had tons of old rare figures like this in good condition. Like all of the old Marvel figures, X-Men, Spidey, and Batman cartoon figures. A lot of Batman figures. I mean name it and he had it.) He also gave me the Batman 10 cent Adventure (already had) and the Batman 12 Adventure for free. I don't have it in me to chase after War Games. To anyone that reads Spider-Girl, when did she get the Black Costume. I have spent so much money on comics in the last month. Ahhhh. Kim

I will start by saying I am a casual reader. I usually buy them in graphic novel form, to get the complete story in one book. But lately I have found that I have read most of the graphic novels I am interested in, so I have been buying some individual comics. ANyway...... I went to a comic store last night, and didn't really know what I wanted. But I wanted some older stuff, because all these crazy new series confuse me (though I do like some of them). I decided on The Avengers, since I liked them a lot as a kid, and I don't really remember much of the stories of the comics I read as a kid (mostly late 70's, early 80's). Anyway, I picked up The Agengers #231- #239. They are from 1983. Featuring Cap, Wasp, She-Hulk, Captain Marvel, Scarlett Witch, Vision, Hawkeye, Thor, Eros, and Iron Man. Here's a link to pictures and descriptions of them: www.geocities.com/jshayer/comics/avg_240.htmThere have been some historical plotlines visited, like Scarlett With just finding out that Magneto is her father, and Tony Starks alcoholism rearing it's head again. Anyway, I got them all for $20, so I may go back next week and get the next 10 or so.I just thought I would share my joy.

Cool... The Avengers is a cool comic but I haven't got into much as the team seems to change a bit too much for my liking and the fact they all live together.
On that note what does everyone think of The New Avengers?
Highlight to read, it contains the new team... well the known ones so far I can't wait. At first I wasn't keen on Spider-Man and Wolvering joining as their not team players, its hard enough to buy Wolverine on 3 X-Men teams but now I can't wait... they'll probally keep this lineup for a while in hopes its sells AND I don't see guys like Wolverine/Spider-Man staying in the mansion so it takes away the bad points from the Avengers. I can't wait to see what a team lead by Cap with guys like Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Iron Man, Wolverine, Sentry etc. can do

I'll read it because I love the Avengers, but it doesn't make me go "I HAVE TO READ THIS!", like say, Amazing Spider-Man or Astonishing X-Men does. I really don't think the Avengers is the Avengers without some lower-tier characters like Warbird, Ant-Man, She-Hulk, Hawkeye and Captin Britain (as we've seen recently). Not that I think these are bad characters mind you, but they aren't the icons that Cap, Iron Man, Spidey, and Wolverine are. Avengers has never been about teaming up the icons of comics. That's what the JLA is. The Avengers has always been about diverse heroes with diverse powers (and level of power) joining together and beating the bad guys. And I think Bendis is turning his back on that, with a few exceptions ( Spider-Woman and Luke Cgae, who you didn't mention). The one thing that really picks my interest about the new series is the inclusion of Sentry. He's supposed to be the icon that Superman is, but of course, he isn't, since they just made him up a few years ago. BTW, I knew the whole thing was a hoax.

Man the Spider-Man comic after 9/11 is one of the most touching things I've ever read... you'll be lucky to find it comic form but if you pick up the Trade Coming Home you'll see what I mean.

I had to go to every comic book store in town before I found one that actually had a copy that Wednesday. Okay, so there's onlt two shops in town, but you get my point. That was a great comic, and a great tribute to the tragedy of 9/11, so much that people who never buy Spider-man were buying it.

Anyone into Tomb Raider? My brother's girlfriend's brother sent me up a few Image comics and there were two Tomb Raider ones...
I really tried to enjoy it but I just couldn't tell what was going on (they were mid arc issues) and it just seemed dull... wheres the Lara that leaps off buildings shooting? Takes out a group of 20 men? Fights sharks?
The rest of the Image comics are by Stracyzynski and I'm a big fan of his work so hopefully I'll enjoy those Image comics more

Best thing about the end of the last issue of Avengers?
If you look hard enough, you can see Darkhawk and it looks like he has been redone. He just looks so much sleaker, maybe this will lead to a Darkhawk comic? Or it means they will kill him off. One or the other.

I went and picked up USM 65 yesterday, and finally got the rest of UFF I needed. I am now officially caught up and have every issue of both sets. UFF is kinda weird, mostly because of how they are handling Doom.
Now it's a pretty lengthy wait for USM 66, but it's a team up with Wolverine, so it should be pretty cool.
I thought of this yesterday while at the comic book store, does anyone else notice how many more "Part X of 6" or "Part X of 5" stories there are? It seems like many sets are just going from 5 part arcs to 6 part arcs to 5 part arcs. Remember back in the early 90's when it was a HUGE deal to see a comic have a certain part issue storyline? Like Nightfall and Death Of Superman. But now, look at Fantastic Four. 2 part arc to a 5 part arc to a 2 part arc to a 5 part arc. Just how times are changing I guess.

I enjoy longer stories... the suspense of having to wai a month really build me up and makes me enjoy the comic even more when I finally get it. I hated in the old days when the good guy would get beaten by the bag guy, discover how to beat him and then beat him all in one comic. I was never on the edge of seat saying "God I hope the new comic comes soon, I wanna see what he does... how on earth can he beat this bad guy?". Thats why I'm a big fan of Bendis' and JMS' work as they tend to spread most of it out over a few comics.
Anyone exicted for the new Marvel team up comics? I preordered them last night, hell cheap too... two comics for the price of one pretty much. I can't wait, sure we've had alot of Wolverine/Spider-Man team ups but their always good.

He just looks so much sleaker, maybe this will lead to a Darkhawk comic? Or it means they will kill him off. One or the other. Darkhawk was just there becuase he used to be an Anvengers reservist. And just about every Avenger or Avengers reservist was in that splash. He's not anymore liekly to get a new series than Silverclaw, Living Lightning, or Stingray. Which is to say, there's pretty much no chance. Although I heard MArvel was working on a new New Warriors, and he could show up in that. I had a few ponderings about that final splash, BTW: The cast was supposed to be all the ex-members, so why were Human Torch and Daredevil there? Neither were ever Avengers or reservists (the Avenger Human Torch was the WW2 robot). If they showed up because it was a crisis in New York, where were other NY heroes like Speedball or Nova? David Finch had some of the costumes outdated. Most notably: Darkhawk and Firestar. No love for the New Warriors... Were the heroes there to prevent the Avengers from entering or to help? They looked pissed to me, like they were blocking the gate, but why would they automatically turn against they're buddies? Random Avengers thoughts... Why has Scarlet Witch been on the first 3 covers of Avengers Disassembled, when she has yet to appear in the storyline? How easy is it going to be to write Vision back into the comic after Benids leaves? Decoy Vision blew up. Easy as pie. Why are they killing everyone off, just to make it an event? I'd be reading Avengers #502 if they didn't advertise it as "One of these Avengers will die!" And I don't think that's gonna make anyone pick up the title if they haven't already.

I know, there is no love for the New Warriors. They are my favorite team ever and they get no love.
Their characters were great too. Night Thrasher, Nova, Speedball, Marvel Boy, Firestar, Namorita. All those characters were interesting and great to read. I want them to return.
