Who do you think is returning then in Astonishing?
With the new announced mini series about the Phoenix I can't help thinking its Jean Grey but its WAY to obvious especially thanks to the ending in Astonishing 3.
Either way I have Astonishing 4 + 5 down on preorder.

Who do you think is returning then in Astonishing? I guess I didn't here they were adding another member to the Astonishing X-Men. Is that the super-huge thing that supposed to be coming in issue #4 (which by the way, cannot come fast enough!)? You mentioned seems unlikely since their big mini-series isn't until Feb 2005. Knowing Joss Whedon's fascination with super-powered Jewish girls, perhaps Sabra will be joining. Something tells me Joss might have fun with Nightcrawler if he wasn't occupied in Uncanny.

Anyone reading War Games?Who do you think started the gang war in Gotham? I think it'll end up being Jason todd, back from the dead, as at ther end of "As the crow flies" alfred found a robin mask on the batmobile. Its been a great series so far, i was a little worried it would end up being a duplicate of NML but it has seperated itself.

I don't think I have it in me to hunt all of those. I might wait for TBPs. I just read Batman #629, Jason (Todd) Lives! Interesting. I haven't read the rest of that arc but it was still very enjoyable. Kim

It is the big guy who can turn into metal (hint hint) Thanks for the spoiler... Please be a bit more considerate next time, just put it in white like everyone else... we can still discuss it but when its one of the biggest things to happen in Astonishing so far its just common courtesy to be considerate to the people who get comics once a month not every week.

I agree completely. On a related note, when I went to the comic store to buy Astonishing 4, I overheard the owner telling someone he'd sell them a variant for cover price. I wasn't aware there was a variant, so I inquired as to whether I could get one. Then he pulled it out, and to my horror, Colossus was on the cover, which completely spoiled the end of the issue for me. Spoilers suck. We should all try to be considerate of that. P.S. I ended up going with the standard cover cause I thought it looked cooler.

So, Gwen's kids... who's the father?
I got #511 today and I'm thinking its either Harry or Flash. Flash is wishful thinking as I want him to talk again. Its going to be a hard storyline to end, with the father being a rapist or Gwen not being the golden girl... I mean she didn't even sleep with Peter. Mind Harry seems too obvious but with them releasing the other cover for Astonishing 4 I wouldn't put it past Marvel to pretty much tell us before hand.
Glad my subscription finally started I think I may get one for Spect Spiderman soon.

it has to be harry.
he was already mentioned.
Plus the green goblin is on an upcoming cover of amazing.
So Harry is the logical choice!
I think Norman raised them though....

On Astonishing... the cover for issue 5 wasn't realeased in Previews. They said you wouldn't see it til the issue came out. So either the shocker from #4 is on the cover, or the shocker from #5 is on the cover. It'll probably have something to do with The Cure and Jean, but you never know with Joss Whedon. MAybe he'll bring back a character just to kill them off the next issue.
On Amazing... The kids have superpowers, and aged into their twenties in 8 years. So a normal schmo like Flash Thompon can't be the father. Now, I didn't read Amazing back when Gwen went away, if that even took place in the comics. Hell, I wasn't even alive yet. So I don't have all the facts.
I do know that there was a sort of interchnagability betwwen the relationships of Harry, Gwen, Pete, MJ, and Flash, so harry is a possibility. But Harry wasn't the Green Goblin until after Gwen's death, so where would the superpowers kick in?
You might say Norman did something, but he didn't "die" and go to Europe until after Gwen had come back and he murdered her. There's a good chance he wouldn't have known about his "grandchildren," but a lot goes unexplained in the Marvel U. The Scriers could be held accountable for the advanced aging and superpowers, but...
Miles Warren was a college professor of both Peter and Gwen. He had always had a strange fascination with Gwen Stacy. He even went so far to clone her years after she died. At the same time, he cloned Peter. And became the costumed villain The Jackal. And then we all know what happened. But don't count out JMS' ability to turn the storyline very fanboy loves to hate into a great one...
Gwen was destraught over the loss of her father, Capt. George Stacy. Everytime she looked at Peter, all she could see was Spider-Man (whose pictures Peter took), the man she blamed for her father's death. So she turned to someone she barely knew for comfort, her new biology professor, Miles Warren. Warren had always been exceptionally, if not eerily, kind to Gwen, and in a moment of weakness, Gwen gave herself to Warren.
Instantly regretting her decision, Gwen couldn't bring herself to tell Peter, and left quickly for Europe without any notice. There, she learned she was pregnant, and nine months later, she gave birth to Miles Warren's twins. She left the newborns in foster care, and returned to the United States, but before she had a chance to tell Peter, she was kidnapped by the Green Goblin and killed in the ensuing battle between the Goblin and Spider-Man.
Years later, Miles Warren was apparently killed in a bttle with Spider-Man after the Clone debacle. He actually secretly escaped to Europe, where he learned of his and Gwen's children, whom he genetically altered to give them superpowers and advantaced aging. Warren planned to use the twins in an attempt to destroy Spider-Man. When they reached an approproate "age", Warren informed the twins that Peter Parker was their father, who abandoned their mother, and that Spider-Man was responsible for his death. He then returned to the United States to mess with Spider-Man once again, which began the "Clone Saga." A few years later, the twins felt ready to come to America and desroy the two men responsible for their mother's death: Peter Parker and Spider-Man.
Anyway, that's what I'd do. Thoughts?

Anyone check out Strange? New comic, with a beefed up version of the original Dr. Strange story. I was never a big Dr. Strange fan, but this comic seems kind of appealing.

So I don't have all the facts. Flash always liked Gwen and at the funeral Flash was just as bummed as Peter and the words he said sounded a bit fishy I still say something went on. He COULD be the father and then when they were left in Europe Norman Osborn did something to them and raised them when he went over after he faked his death. Flash is the least likley out of Harry/Fash but until we know why their ages aren't right we don't know
