I don’t understand always using the Spidy movie MJ as an excuse all the time. That was a movie fig, not a comic/animated ML fig. MJ has been one of my most wanted ML, even back since the Spider-Man animated line when we got invisible woman painted in MJ colors. I skipped the movie MJ because it was just that, a Movie version. Movie figs have never been the most popular, so that on top of her being a supporting character didn’t help.
- Well it''s not an excuse! it's th absolute truth. If you worked here and you saw how many MJ's tehre were left over after movie 1 YOU wouldnt make any more either! Plus if we were talking about ML ( wich we wern't) I would think that there would be a possibility some day of HB doing something like a con exclusive MJ. ( But dont hold me to it!!!)
I and I know many others, also skipped her because it was Kirsten Dunst with red hair in a Chinese dress. That’s not MJ to me. Maybe not a single release, but I don’t see why Hasbro can’t do a Spidy/MJ 2 pack. Even as an exclusive. Just because on goes wrong, a movie fig at that, doesn’t mean you give up and never do anyone else in any line ever again.
- Look at tit this way, If one of teh most popular movies cant move figures ....why would they wais the money on a classic version?
Ok i guess my question came off wrong, i was asking if first appearce figure would continue putting in the 2 characters was just ment those were want i would like not asking if those two would be made.
- Yes this is something that is being considered.
In the past you mentioned Phoenix was not rereleased in the Xmen line due to that body being used for Warbird in the Walmart asst. Is it possible any were made?
- Not sure I didnt work on that line.
Man, those box sets would've rocked my face off.
- Yes they would have.
I'm hoping ng we might see Ultron 5 if Hasbro was willing to stick with it. Chameleon & Black Knight, too!
- These are character specific questions guys....
Is Hasbro aware of the magnificent glory that is Darkhawk and how many adoring fans he has? and, if so, are they aware of how incredible an action figure he could possible make? You've stated your love for Darkhawk before, so please tell me his name has at least come up around the Hasbro offices.
- Yes, I have been making them painfully aware of his might and awe.
Cause man, that would be sweet. I remember that way back he had also mentioned that TB was planning on doing a classic Ultron in 2007, which would be good for all the Ultron haters out there.
- Yeah....but no ultron.
Hi Jesse, thanks for always being so helpful and informative. My question is: Have you ever considered selling MLs in two formats? One style can come with a BAF piece and you could charge a little more for it and the other being a simple carded figure minus the BAF piece and any accesories while costing less. This way you could do larger BAFs by slightly raising the price of the BAF packaged figures, while not upsetting people who just want the figures sans BAF part because of the cheaper non-BAF figures. Kinda like when Toybiz simplified the LOTR packaging, just a little more extreme.
- No. That would never happen...why? The sell through on teh BAF's do much better than the what we did with single's w/out.
That's so cool, i always knew we would get an New X-men boxset, with hellion, Elixir, Rockslide, X-23 and maybe Dust, Surge and Mercury in it. which i don't think will happen, like the Young avenges there only was 4 of them something that i really can't understand why, but anyway i will be happy to have them , but i'm sure jesse said there won't be any boxset in 2007, so we wil probably see some of them in line ups somehow, and there a chance as well about Dazzler disco with 90 variant.
- We never got beyond concept for 2007. So nothing was sculpted for the box sets. Please dont get your hopes up, there are no box sets for 07 for hasbro and these figures will not be done in 07!
Jesse, It's my understanding that Icons are the two-ups for the regular 6-inch figures. If that's the case, any chance of seeing a Yellow Jacket or Wasp Icon, so as to have a large-scale figure without it being a BAF? Could this be the way to cost justify a Clint Barton or Bill Foster Goliath or Ultimate Giant-Man as well, by also having each of the figures as part of the 6-inch line? Just trying to save you a couple of bucks while getting us some big figs. Hugs and kisses... db
- That's a good idea. I will relay it to the Bro.
is there a chance we might get MLs from sculpted like black panther and sentry?
because its my favourite sculpt.
- Is this "Tokey" from "Metaloclypse" my gfavorite TV show??? I LOVE Deathclock!!!!
have you seen any of the ML series 3 figures?
- all of them.
will she-hulk has waist articulation?
- Nope
will we see more obscure characters?
- Sure will!
Okay- kinda off topic and i'm sure no one else but me cares about this, but i started doing amateur stand-up earlier this year and i'm well aware of your experience doing sketch comedy. If you have a few minutes to spare, i'd love for you to check out the video from my last show. Here's a link to the thread with a link to the video-
Like i said before, I just started doing this earlier this year and this was only my fifth time on stage so any kind of advice, tips, or feedback of any kind would be vastly appreciated. I know i still need a ton of practice and definitely could've benefited from more rehearsal (i messed up a few things because i lost my place).
i know how busy you are, so thanks in advance if you choose to respond and check it out. post a response either here, or over in the thread i've already devoted to this subject and i'm sure i'll see it.
- Keep doing it. That's the best advice that I can give. I dont do stand up, I do improv witha group and it took us 3 years before we knew what the hell we were doing but whe ghave been headlining on Saturday night for the last 4 years at the UCB theater. Anyone doing this basicly just bneeds to stick to it to make it work.
The Hercules figure Jesse mentioned, way back before Hasbro took over, was a completely different figure than the Hasbro one. Not well known fact but true. Don't know why a new one had to be made.
- 100% untrue. ( dont know where you got that!)
I got the info from the inside. Won't reveal my sources. TB had a completely different (and "better") Hercules sculpted. Maybe I've already said too much. Haven't seen it myself, although I like the Hasbro one.
- No we didnt? we had a diffrent and ( "worse") head and that was re-done.
Question for Jesse: have the Icons Beast regular/variant been switched? I thought the blue/labcoat Beast was to be the regular and the gray version the variant. It seems the gray Beast is arriving in greater numbers. Has there been a mistake?
- Not to my knowedge.
I was also curious about why certain molds couldn't be used at the same time, yet Wasp and Spider-Woman use the same body mold. Why were 2 molds created for this body? If it was just to have Wasp and SW in the same wave, why wasn't a second mold of Psylocke's body made?
- it was the same sculpt that created two different molds.
Will there be female Icons?
- Yes.
Will every Hasbro series contain an Ultimate version of a character?
- No.
Jesse, you must do whatever you can to get the runaways made as actions figures. It's the best new idea to come out of Marvel for decades and for it to get support of a toy line will give it a solid foot hold with a huge group of people that might not have heard of it. Make that group please!!!!!
- Were trying. Jos Wheadon's help will help a lot.
So Jesse, what can you tell us about this FF Movie Annihilus? (courtesy of hong kong lad)
- It was never really made.
Long time listener first time poster. If you can, what characters would have made up the New X-men and Runaways boxset? Or can you tell us what character/s from the teams respective rosters you would have enjoyed making? I guess the third question would be at what point of development were these figures at?
- I really dont wnat to get into the forst two, but these only got to design and ctrl art.
know both figures and games have long lead times, but was curious: which came first - did ML11 Ultron inspire the game's Ultron design, or was it the other way around? also, what caused you to switch from the dog-head design to the classic Ultron head? just wanted to know if fans only have themselves to blame for not having a Marvel Ultimate Alliance Ultron, or if they can keep blaming you.
- The figure came first.
What is the likelihood that figures in the 07 ML line-up will come with flight-stands (where "appropriate")? Do you have any indication of flight-stand chances beyond '07?
- Zero.
