Official Marvel Legends Collectors Thread

Is there any chance of TB's FO2 figures being re-released by Hasbro (either as single-figures, in a boxed set, or just as Face-Off packs)? I know it's a long shot, but these figures were barely on the shelves, and I never saw a single one of them up here in Canada. It sucks. Surely there's still a broad market for these guys.\

Is it more costly to mold a variant in a different color than the regular figure? For example: Is it more costly to do a variant of Iron Fist in red (rather than green) than just doing a second green Iron Fist with a different head? If that makes any sense at all...
- Not as long as it's properly planned.

I know character specific questions and commenting on things not officially announced BUT... in your opinion will most of the people here be pleased with the scale (i.e. 6 inch) and comic accuracy of the Puma, Black Cat and Mary Jane figures from the Spring catalogue list?

Is the difficulty in producing characters with numerous arms so great that there is a low to no chance that they can be done? (This has obvious implications for Spiral, but doesn't have to be specific to here at all. Spiderman, Four Arm, Shuma Gorath, etc)
- It's no more difficult to produce those figure's.

When (and I'm assuming you do) you see pictures of peope's collections of Marvel Legends, are you ever taken back by just how much cool stuff you all have brought about for us?
- Some times! it is pretty stagerring how many action figures that we've made!

Why no ML INVADERS set? Wouldn't it be a relatively-easy re-do of existing figures to get us Golden Age Cap, Subby, Human Torch?
- Seriously...probably because to my memory YOUR the first person that has asked for them!

Do you think Hasbro would ever consider creating Larger scale figures? By that I mean for the REALLY BIG characters in the Marvel Universe like Galactus etc. would Hasbro ever consider making a figure much like the Walmart exclusive 30" Superman or the Fantastic 4 Movie 26" Thing. Just a very large figure with very limited points of articulation or are figures like that just not cost effective? Maybe they don't even sell, I don't know.

I'm sorry if this seems like a character specific question but I'm more interested in if such a move for the VERY VERY large scale characters is even worth thinking about or is it just too expensive?
- To my knowledge those things just dont sell that well.

Are Build A Figures engineered differently than the "assembled" figures? Or in other words, could you stick parts of say Abomination or Dragon Man in packages and would we be able to easily assemble him or do you do something special to BAF parts?
- What we started to do with thet BAF parts were that every joint was specific to limb that it fit to so that it would be impossible to assemble it wrong.

I think the Mandarin "unmasked" variant head looks a bit like Avi Arad - was he the model or inspiration?

3. Have you ever heard of an old line from about 1988 or 89 called Food Fighters? They were food items with arms, legs, and guns. I'm just wondering if I'm the only one who remembers these.
- Sure.

4. Do you keep any sort of a collection of figures at home or do you keep work and personal life seperate?
- I have all kinds of crap at my place.

5. A guy I know who runs a small toy retailer told me he doesn't even bother collecting anymore. He sees the figures every day and usually is stressed out over them so he finds no reason to collect. Do you feel this way?
- Not yat all. not ever have I felt that.

6. Have you ever bought a marvel legend at a retail store or at a comic shop?
- Sure. When I go home I buy stuff for friends and family.

7. Do you ever get recognized in public by collectors? (like, on the street or at the grocery store, not at a convention)
- Not for the toys but sometimes for the comedy.

8. Do you have any favorite TV shows? Ever catch Mythbusters?
- Not a big mythbusters fan. But I love heroes and lost. & the sarah Silverman show!

I just got Moon Knight and Havoc the other day (gimme a break, I'm in Canada and still haven't seen either one of these in my area!) and I have to say - I love that sculpt. Now - HML2 -has- been announced and the line-up confirmed, so -- it looks like Quicksilver uses this sculpt too, and that's great. Make sure Hasbro keeps using this sculpt whenever it's appropriate.

Also, I'm trying to remember what you said a ways back about the Blob BAF -- it has neck articulation, but not knee articulation, correct?
- Correct


I see that Hercules has the 'kung-fu grip' hand so that he can hold his weapon. Loki has this too. Keep that going -- I prefer when a character can hold his weapons over being able to give another toy the finger. The latter is pretty funny for a couple of minutes, but the former is more important in the long-run, and makes the figures more 'playable' for younger buyers. It's frustrating when Punisher drops his gun every time he tries to take a shot at Spidey, ya' know?

What's the deal with Hasbro putting out a Fantastic Four ML line at the same time it puts out Fantastic Four movie figures which, presumably, will be the same characters and, thus, make a solid, unmoving wall of F4 figures on retail stores? Won't this cause problems when the 'Bro tries to pull the same thing off with Spider-Man ML and Spider-Man 3 figures a few months later (especially so, with Origins and the 5 inch line)?
- One will be movie and one will be classic.


Jesse, with the 2 different Fantastic Four movie lines, is there any chance that the BAF line (supposedly collector-orientated) will feature comic-based figures?
- Yes.

Also, if the regular line is featuring cartoon-based figures, could these be the previously announced figures from the recent 'toon that never made it out? If so, is that the best idea, what with the cartoon being cancelled after a few shows?
- No cartoon figs.

Aside from cost issues, why is Hasbro putting so much focus on 5 inch lines?
- You have answered your own question.

If the five inch stuff remains geared towards kids, then whatever, but it'll be really frustrating if we start seeing characters in that scale that we don't already have in ML or a comparable line.
- 5" lines are aimed at kids.

I got particularly antsy when I saw that there's going to be a 5 inch FF line this summer. Please tell us that Hasbro isn't going to scale down Kang and Dragon Man for release in that line and count that as getting us those figures.

Will future waves of the Spider-Man Origins feature more original sculpts (like the very nice Iron Spidey), or will it consist of repainted previosuly released figures? While the majority of the villians are well done (for a repaint) I have found the Spider-Man figures mostly insulting, due to poor quality of work. They look like cheap dollar store knock offs, and I am disgusted that I am expected to pay a price higher than what I pay for ML.
- Not sure that there will be more origins.

Also, are you aware of the high price increase being introduced here in Australia with the release of the Hasbro ML? While I have no intentions to stop buying the line, I will be investigating other methods of purchasing the figures (on-line etc) due to the 50-100% price increase. So while you will not lose a customer, I'm guessing that the sales will dry up in Australia, and eventually stop, thereby closing another market.
