Got the idea for this topic from Jerry "The Devil" Belvedere's horseman thread:
Who should have been in nWo? and who shouldn't?
You can talk about any incarnation of the nWo (original, Hollywood, Wolfpac, 2000, WWF, Japan) and you can suggest people from any organization (eg. WWF talent in WCW's nWo), from any era, including dead/retired talent.
here's mine, i don't feel like going into detail with reasons:
WHO SHOULD/COULD HAVE BEEN IN NWO
-DDP - i always thought he was awesome as a heel, especially with the stalker gimmick. a heel turn would have been huge after his popularity as the people's champion.
-Batista - as another moody unstoppable powerhouse. could have worked i think
-Big Bossman - i know he was in nWo briefly as Bubba Rogers, but I think the SWAT/attitude bossman could have worked as a corrupt enforcer/security guy
-Eddie Guerrero - i know he was in lWo, but he was the only decent part of it IMO, he should have just been in the regular nWo
-Kidman - i always liked his over-confident new blood gimmick, could have worked in nWo i think
-The Wall - one of my top 5 favorite wrestlers of all time, very underated. another monster enforcer/bodyguard.
-Midajah - the original nWo needed a couple of heel girls with a real presence/attitude. i always thought midajah was very underratted
WHO SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN IN NWO
-Shawn Michaels - didn't fit the "thug" image, more of a joker/prankster
-Ted DiBiase - didn't believe it. more of a leader/manager than a follower
-Miss Elizabeth - irrelevant bystander. she wasn't "bad" at all.
-Michael Wallstreet - barely remember him in nWo or why he joined
-Dusty Rhodes - didn't bring anything to the group
-Konnan - owes most of his popularity to putting on an nWo shirt. good talent, but didn't work in nWo for me
-Brian Adams - random henchman
-Scott Norton - random henchman
-Vincent - random henchman
-Bret Hart - didn't believe it. his beef was with wwf, not wcw.
-Stevie Ray - random henchman, not "bad" enough
-Booker T - handled badly, possibly could have worked, i dunno.
-Sting - wolfpac was more a face group i know, but i still felt sting should always be against the nWo
-Lex Luger - same as sting

Aside from them, nobody else should have even joined at least right away because it just watered down the image and group. This was supposed to be an elite and dominant group. Scott Steiner later on was a good choice to join, but the group had been watered down by then.

I alwasy felt that the original nWo of Hogan, Hall, Nash, Giant, & DiBiase (possibly X-Pac) was the best. Add in Bischoff and it was a solid group. Aside from them, nobdy else should've even joined at least right away because it just watered down the image and group. This was supoosed to be an elite and dominat group. Scott Steiner later on was a good choice to join, but the group had been watered down by then. I was pretty much going to say that. |

yh exactly the nWo was overpacked - 4-5 guys is fine - not 30-50!!!
in the monday night wars DVD - you hear ex wcw talent mention how ridiculous the nWo became with half the roster becoming nWo members - just became 1 big black n white mess!

Personally, i think it would have worked nicely with around 8 members. Then it would still have an 'invasion' kind of feel.
Maybe:
Nash, Hall, Hogan, Giant, Steiner, Syxx, Buff and Bubba Rogers w/ Bischoff managing.
The would mean you got:
Tag Team to dominate tag devision.
Main Eventer for the Title.
The Big Behmoth, 'who can stop the nWo with The Giant on their side?' etc.
The Powerhouse.
The Cruiserweight to dominate the division.
The mid carder, hanger on sort.
The Veteran, possbily feuding with the likes of Piper, Duggan etc.
I think that could have been a nice little faction. It did start getting far too much in the end.

Sadly joining the nWo in WCW was the thing to do, it got to the point where they were living there characters, and everyone wanted to do that. That's why i can't stand when people compare them to the 4 Horsemen, so lets compare and contrast shall we
Nwo and Horsemen similarities:
Lived the gimmick
Was the hottest thing in wrestling at there time
Held all the titles
The fans hate grew to appreciation
Differences:
Only a select few could be in the Horsemen
Anyone could be in the nWo
You made money feuding with the Horsemen
No one was left in WCW to feud with the NWO and make it worth anything
Everyone got mic time in the horsemen, and could use it
Only the top guys got mic time in the NWO, a lot of the B-Team couldn't use the mic.

Should've not- jobbers like Virgil, Scott Norton, and the fake Sting. I also don't think Rick Rude and Brian Adams needed to be in the nwo.

Hogan, Hall, Nash, Syxx, Giant with Dibiase as a Manager...should have just kept it at that and not added or subtracted anyone...other then maybe Muta and Chono for nwo japan

I'm just gonna give my thoughts on the ones you posted dude. WHO SHOULD/COULD HAVE BEEN IN NWO DDP Eh i like Page but the guy was way over as the Peoples Champion and was one of the only guys who could hang with the nWo (Next to Sting etc etc) Batista If nWo was brought back tommorow i'd agree with Batista but if we're talking WCW or even WWF i'd have to say no just because theres more guys who could do the reckless beast gimmick. And when nWo was ending thats around the time Batista debuted in WWF. Big Bossman Completely agree with Bossman he could of done very well as a security guard for the nWo and done the corrupt security guard/cop thing well. Good thinking man  Eddie Guerrero Eddie really wasnt a bad ass he was more of the cocky type of guy. He might of fit but i doubt he would of for too long. Kidman Billy is similar to Guerrero in the fact that he wasnt ever that bad ass. I liked him in the New Blood aswell but i just can't see Kidman wearing the nWo colours and being successful in them. The Wall When you say The Wall i'm guessing you're talking about nWo 2000 because thats the only nWo he was around. Around that time Wall was doing the sadistic monster gimmick but if he wasnt such a loner then i imagine he could of fit in the nWo group. Midajah Totally disagree on this one. Midajah was cool as Steiners valet but i can't see her in nWo colours either. I just don't think she'd fit. WHO SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN IN NWO Shawn Michaels Yeah HBK didnt fit in the nWo at all he was more of a DX type of guy and as you said didnt fit the nWo's image and was more of a funny type of guy. Ted DiBiase DiBiase i disagree with. When he first came in to the nWo he had a really good storyline coming in and i think he fit as an nWo Financial Backer. It was a good storyline sure he wasnt bad ass but he has that image that makes you want to kick his ass for being a smug rich bunghole. Miss Elizabeth I agree Elizabeth was too pretty and nice to be in the nWo i think a woman like Kimberly Page would of fit the nWo more then Elizabeth Michael Wallstreet Eh Rotunda shouldnt of been there but DiBiase was and it made it look like everyone no matter there position on the card was coming to WCW. I think he fits the group but i think he was one of the first who wasnt "elite" and i think that hurt the original nWo. Dusty Rhodes Dusty Rhodes is really more traditional which didnt fit in the nWo and he wasnt a bad ass either which made him a bad choice. I agree with you. Konnan Konnan didnt fit really i once again agree with you. Konnan should of been fighting the nWo midcarders instead of joining them. Brian Adams Adams fit he was just this big guy who could kick your ass if you messed with him. I liked him in the role i think he joined when nWo was just all about getting as many guys as possible no matter who they were so i think he fits. Scott Norton I think Norton is abit up and down. In the nWo America he was simply a midcarder there to fill the numbers but when he went to Japan he was a god. This one is gonna be a sorta agree and sorta disagree thing. Vincent Vincent sorta fit aswell he was just the Head of Security and he sorta looked bad ass standing there during peoples matches. I think what i'm trying to say here is that he fit because he looks like he could legit kick your ass. Bret Hart I think Bret would of fit as just a regular nWo member in the WCW United States Division but when he was actual leader of the nWo he didnt have enough charisma to carry the group and i think thats the main reason the nWo 2000 storyline flopped even though it had the potential to be good. Plus as you said his beef was with WWF and not WCW. It didnt really make sense for him trying to kill WCW. Stevie Ray Stevie is just like Vincent he looks like he could legit kick your ass if you messed with him but i do think that the nWo should of only had 1 of those bad ass looking guys and i think Vincent should of been the 1 over Stevie so i agree that Stevie shouldnt of been Booker T Booker was always a babyface and he just didnt fit as a heel. I never really liked him as a heel and he's just not a good heel and thats why he didnt fit the group in 2002. Sting Sting made no sense to join the Wolfpac in 98. The man had been trying to get rid of the nWo for all of 97 and Nash (The guy he teamed with) had feuded with Sting before and Sting was continually trying to take out the entire nWo which included Nash. It made no sense for Sting to join something he hated so much. Sting should of stayed the WCW Franchise Player and never joined the nWo. Lex Luger Luger should of also been one of WCW's Franchise Players. Him joining the nWo made no sense because he had also been feuding with the nWo in 1997. |

Shawn Michaels was always too over to be in the nWo, he turned nWo into a face group, not a good route, I shudder at the thought of Nash never getting injured and having the nWo continue.

I think Hall, Nash and Hogan was just perfect, but they couldn't just be against all WCW, so I would say let Bossman, The Giant, Syxx, and Eric Bischoff join them. Bishoff was the WCW President, but how the president be against his own company? well I would have written that Ted DiBiase, as Million Dollar Man, instead of joining the nWo, he would get a job as WCW president (as a storyline). Hogan could have feuded with Sting, The Giant with Goldberg, Hall with DDP, Syxx with some cruseirweight maybe Rey Mysterio, and Nash with Bret Hart, and like Ted was WCW's president, he could have some kind of little feud with Bishoff.
That's what I would have done.

Once you've got 4-5 guys, anything after that adds nothing to the aura of the group. In fact, it makes the group less special, as if anyone can join. I'd have stuck with an nWo consisting of Hogan, Hall, Nash, Syxx, and Bischoff in the power role. The other guys might have made a good secondary faction of their own (or for the sheer number of nWo members, you probably could have split them into about 8 factions at one point). But a faction just doesn't work as well if there are more than 5 guys, in my opinion. I never did like DiBiase in the nWo, because he was relegated to being one of the drones who just stood behind Hogan every week and nodded and smiled as he cut promos. |

Imo I think if Nash never got injured, I think Triple H would have later joined the group. Big Show would have got kicked out and the NWO named would have quietly been dropped and they would have been called the Kliq on air. Thats what I think would have happened or something similar. |

NWO should have have just been Hogan, Hall, nash, The Giant, Scott Steiner & Syxx-Pac
A collection of decent & over wrestlers, instead adding so many lower level guys in an effort to get them over backfired & just made the group look weak.
