What are some of your guys favorite plays to shut down the:
A. Pass
B. Run
I run a lot of cover 2, but for some reason they still throw to the middle of the field, so I need to move things around.
Running wise, I really like pinch's. I'll also use a safety blitz, but I always feel like it's a lost cause when I do. I lose a player and SOMEHOW the line picks it up with ease.

On defense the majority of the time I man up my corner backs with some kind of spy or blitz on the linebackers, and ALWAYS have somebody in the middle of the field, whom I usually control because he always seems to be out of place if it's the CPU. It doesn't always work but my track record with zone defense is horrible so it's what I use for now.
But back in last year's game where the deep ball was a threat every play, I would lose my mind when people picked mobile QB's. It was either they're gonna torch you over top, or if you guard that they take off. That is until I found the DE contain play, which just eliminated that problem completely. Nothing like seeing a guy rollout only to get crushed by the defensive end who was just waiting for him the whole time.
And a problem that I always have is getting frustrated when my running game fails, and just passing every down. Needless to say in this year's game I really gotta overcome that.

I always try to run a lot, even when I'm doing terrible at it. So half the time I end up with a Third and Eight after two one yard runs. Then my back finishes the game with 30 attempts and like 36 yards.

Wow, I'm playing online right now against a kid who is the Titans. Vince Young is seriously taking a good 20 yard drop, jumping and spinning in mid air and trying to throw 40 yards. He did it to open the game (and SOMEHOW scored a TD on it, seriously if I could save the highlight, I would, ridiculous)
All I'm doing is blitzing 1 guy at his QB so he can't run and he's lost. He's thrown 5 INT and there is 3:41 left in the 4th quarter. It's been a very ugly game. I really don't understand why people pick a QB you can run with and try run around to make a throw. I feel like every kid I've played online so far has done it. Stay in the pocket you douchebags, it's not Blitz.
And I don't feel bad at all because he's trying this, so I'm running up the score.
P.S. thank god you only get a few pauses per game, this kid is pissed and won't quit so he keeps trying to pause to be an bunghole.
Final Score: 56-7. His 7 came on the 2nd play of the game where he dead sprinted to the left, jumped in mid air, threw ACROSS his body and hit a guy (who didn't catch it at first, but got the tip off my guy knocking it down) for a TD.

I just made a profile on it last night, and to get some pants or something you had to have 2 back to back shut outs, which I just did, and they're still locked.
But what really gets me, is that my friend (who is honestly awful at madden) has crazy accomplishments. Like this:
MADDEN NFL 09: ______ played as Colts against The CPU who played as Chargers and won 84-7
__________ has completed the MADDEN NFL 09 Accomplishment Intercept 6 passes in a game
__________ has completed the MADDEN NFL 09 Accomplishment Return 6 kickoffs for a td in a season
Now, you have to admit, those are ridiculous for someone who sucks at Madden. I asked him about all those and he said he was on All-Pro with 5 minute quarters. No possible way can you score 84 points that way. I guess the other two are POSSIBLE, but still I guarantee he is on rookie, which makes me mad because he brags about this.

i hate cheesers online who use the ing glitched WR direct snap every play and go for it every time you stop them on a 3rd down. whether its 4th and 15 or 4th and 7 Yeah, that's pathetic, I'm glad I haven't come across one yet. I did however play a kid yesterday that would go for it every 4th down, and every down he used a hurry up offense. It was 14-7, he got the ball at the half, threw a INT (couldn't stop my offense at all) and then he disconnected, which I hate. Lose like a man. I don't go online to have some kid waste my time by quitting and then I get to play the computer if I want a win. It was 14-7. Who knows if I'll make a mistake, then you're RIGHT back in the game. It's really the reason I play one of my best friends online more than anyone else. We always have some amazing battles, and I know it's going to be like a REAL football game. No stupid QB running all over the place, no hurry up offense all game, no 4th down and 5 and going for it (unless it's desperate times), no pointless 2 point conversions, no 4 wide and throwing deep every play, etc. It feels like a real game...I love it. |

I've come across so many times online people who are only concerned about their record and all they do is cheese. I always stop these punks and its 4th and 7 and I have faith they will punt and they never do. So I burn pointless timeouts then they run the stupid glitch plays and get major yardage or bomb it deep to Randy Moss who outruns everyone. I can see going for it on a 4th and 2 or something similar if your near the goal line, or if it would be better to go for a first down than kick a field goal ( weather conditions and wind factors etc ). Or even running hurry up within the 2 minute drill or just on one drive during the game to catch the defense off guard. Just as it happens in the NFL. I dont really care if I lose online to someone who plays a real game. I love the grinding battle. I had a 17-10 loss yesterday it was 10-10 with 3 minutes left in the ball game I just couldnt pull it out and my opponent did. I hate losing to cheesers because all they do is cheese. This one game I beat the cheeser because he didnt know the glitch plays he just ran no huddle and went for every 4th down. He sent me hate mail because I didnt go for it on 4th downs and because I pounded the ball up the middle the whole game. |

Then you lineup in your normal defense only to figure out that they've now decided to punt after you wasted a timeout and have nobody back to return it. I've had that done on kickoffs before also. They line up in onside kick so I audible then they end up up kicking off and they try and demolish my returner who has no blockers for a quick scoop and score |

Okay well the glitch is simple.
Choose a team and change the offence to TB J.Grugen.
Go to BY FORMATION and go to DOUBLES ON then go to the 4th page the name of the play is HB direct snap.
Press RT and press the letter you want the ball to.Take your finger off the rt then Hike (A) tada.. the glitch
