Here is a tip running...use your hit stick and juke moves, not your acceleration button only once you have broken into open Field do you use it. The game is programed that if you use it per say to hit the hole faster watch the defense they close on you faster. Master your other buttons and it will make a difference. ;D

Also, run the play as designed. If you call Iso, your blocks are towards the middle, not to the outside, so if you decide to bounce it to the outside, there isnt gonna be much more room to run.

Breaking tackles is impossible compared to last year being definite. Trucking is usually all I do and yet it rarely works now. Think they did a crappy job of balancing it out yet again. I've found just as little success using the acceleration button as not using it at all.
Running is usually something I do well while my Passing is average. This year its my Passing that I do well and my Running is average.
So hopefully next year everything balances better.

They actually did a great job with running in my opinion, because in real life, no one runs and gets near 8 or 9 yards a carry. Not everyone can spin move or juke someone and run a 78 yard touchdown. Most of the time, running backs get 3 or 4 yards a play.

Usually, if I'm running and Iso and I see that the blitz is going to be heavy up the middle, I just slide the protection to whichever side the defense looks weakest on and bounce out that way. Sometimes it works and I can get about 2 or 3 yards, other times it fails and a LB comes in unblocked and I lose 2 or 3 yards.

Playing Madden 09 on PS2 = God Playing Madden 09 on XBox 360 = Couldn't win to save my life On the bright side, I CAN rush the ball All-Madden level.

Most of the time, running backs get 3 or 4 yards a play. That is why I think its still lopsided. Last year it was too easy to get 150 yards a game running while this year I've seen that even the best backs can only average about 2 yards a carry. The computer doesn't do a good job either. In fact, it does worse than I do. I've played a whole season and didn't have a single 100 yard game and neither did the computer againist me . If it was just me sucking then that would be easy to figure out. Even if I sim games the outcome is about the same. It seems like defenders are magnets to the ball this year. Unless you get in clear open field chances are someone is going to grab your legs up from behind. The animation seems to be automatic and you'll always get grabbed from behind. Last year trucking was invincible and now it seems useless especially compared to juking.

SO I played my cousin today ranked online. He was Pats I was Steelers. The first quarter we couldn't score to save our lives, we both threw too many INTs . EA was being very laggy today because I missed too many hit sticks. Final score was 24-17, I threw 7 ints today and I sacked Cassel about 8 times and he still one. whatever, my overall record now is 7-16

Don't makes things difficult. I play to actually have realistic stats, like if I'm using the Saints, I'll pass more than rush, or if I'm using the Giants, I'll rush more than I throw. One thing I do hate is, most of the time when I'm rushing, defenders will break loose of their tacklers, and nail me, when usually the offensive linemen would hold the block. If you run HB Stretch alot, don't expect to get many yards off of it.

Yeah I played a season with the "My Skill" crap and my rushing was on All-Madden and my passing made it there by the end of the season which I guess explains the increase of sacks and Ints towards the end of the year. I think I'm going to give All-Pro a try next. Hopefully it doesn't turn into a bunch of blow out games though. Can't stand how its either too unrealistic with terrible stats or too unrealistic with stats out the ass.
Yeah that magnetic stuff is ridiculous. I usually run it up the middle and they always find a way to break off my linemen and hit me right away. Or DE's always get ya when you do stretch plays. So annoying.

What's everyone good at?
I find myself excelling in kick returns, surprisingly.

I'm good at screens, or slants, or stopping the run.

I'm good at throwing the ball to any half back plus getting the first down with that reception, I'm also good at these types of routes(flipped too):
---------------------------------------> l l l l l l l

I'm good at outs, and slants for the passing game, as well as dumping it off to my back for the first down. On defense I excel at stopping the run.

I can stop the run like a mofo. Also good at blitzing linebackers.

I can stop the run fairly well, but my secondary always gets chewed to bits and spit back out before they even know the play was started.
As for offense, give me any PA Pass in the book and I can get a first down out of it.

Has anyone else been playing that "superstar" mode? I created myself as a QB just to try it out, and it's actually quite a lot of fun. I ended up getting drafted by the Minnesota Vikings and got the starting job over Jackson and Frerotte(sp?).

yeah I've played superstar mode before, I usually start a campus legend in NCAA Football 09 then when I'm done with that I usually transfer it over to Madden 09 and get drafted
