ok cool. I'll start it up tomarrow. question tho, should we use the real rosters or have a fantasy draft? Don't care either way. I get the Bengals btw.

I'd say real rosters.

I'd definitely prefer the actual team rosters. In fact I might opt out if that's not the case.

Yeah, the majority of us are picking teams we're fans of. If you do fantasy draft, that would eliminate the point.

The madden IQ is the best. It is giving me great games. Madden 09 rules on Ps3 and 360. I played them both and they are too close to call. Snow looks awesome!!

I would do the league, but I have a ps2 sadly. =/
However, the game is still nice for the ps2...
I think they tweaked something becasue I've been getting some realistic stats. It's quite nice actually.
I think the Raiders are the best team on here if you know how to use them right.

So yeah. In one day I've played 13 weeks worth of my Vikings franchise Not doing too good until recently, because I signed Daunte Culpepper to a 1 year deal. With him as the new QB, I'm undefeated. (Only two games though ) Jackson was just throwing too many int. Culpepper as like 1, I think so far. I'm havin a lot of fun with this game, and I can't wait for tomorrow so I can (hopefully) finished the regular season. I'm in second place in my division atm.

God running is pissing me off. I'm going to illustrate in paint what seems to be happening. First off, let's just say I NEED a fast QB, so I gave John Beck like 87 speed. And as far as Ricky Williams goes, I will always love him, so I upped his rating. 96 elusive, 90 trucking, 97 speed, 97 stiff arm. upped his spin and juke into the mid/high 90's. and other things, but his overall is now 98. And the Dolphins O-Line is okay, Long and Carey are good and the rest are pretty decent. Okay, the play is meant to go inside. But in 08, I would always bounce out and truck or juke some people to get the first, or atleast 6-7 yards. Slide 1- What I try to do Slide 2- It seems to work, I get past the ONE guy (if i'm lucky) but then, the other 2 guys escape from the blockers within a second. Slide 3- Dominated, as soon as either I get the ball in my hands, or start to try to run. Most of the time it's 3 though. Ridiculous!

Well, I'm still incapable of winning a match, but with my Madden IQ dropping from 568 (or whatever 560 number it was) to 480, I'm now back into the zone where even when I lose, it's because of something where I truly screwed up. In my most recent match, against the Bengals, it was because I ed up field goal while up by 4 which allowed them to get a touchdown to be up 17-14 with 20 seconds left in the 4th quarter. Also, seeing how ing filthy the players get when it's rainy is great, until you notice how spotless the helmets are. Hell, the only dirt/spam/whatever I noticed were a couple dark streaks on the Bengals' helmets. If I can actually start winning matches, though, that'd be nice.

To be honest, I don't seem to have THAT much trouble running the ball. 4 ypc is a realistic average.
I find you do better if you run the play as designed.

Yeah, quite frankly it's more realistic. If you get lucky you can get a 250 yard game, just like in real football. I hated when people could just pull a Reggie Bush and run outside on a dive play, kill one of my defenders, and be gone.

I agree.
And the simple reason your play doesn't work, is because the blockers are running one pattern, and you are running another. The blockers are trying to create a hole on the inside, and you are running to the outside. THe defenders are facing the ball, and can change directions and go after you. The blockers can't see behind them, and are running their assigned blocking patterns.

I swear when you get to playoffs in franchise, it's hell to win, especially when you're facing the Colts in the AFC Championship.
edit- I agree about the jerseys getting all dirty in rain games. It got to the point where I couldn't even see Cromartie's numbers or his nameplate. Then of course the Chargers white helmets shine through which kinda ruins it.

I finally got the hang of running, Lendale White, and Chris Johnson together is working really good. I'm up for the league, I'd like to use the Titans.

Picked it up today, I've always enjoyed Madden games but I haven't purchased one since Madden '04. (Minus '08 on PSP, but I'm excluding portables). I'm enjoying the game so far, but I agree, as a person who isn't incredibly familiar with football (I watch it, but I'm not in tune with plays and whatnot) - the difficulty is definitely stepped up quite a few notches.
The My Skill rating isn't quite working for me, according to the tests, I'm maxed out on rushing offense, and when I play an actual game like that, I get torn apart.

I guess it just makes me mad because I'm so used to being able to do that.

I mean, given how you're not given the ball until you're about halfway down the assigned route, how come the blockers can't help you then? Look, I'm not trying to say that I run every play as run. Hell, Pizza can attest to me being one of the people that'd Reggie Bush him, at least back in 07 with Barber. I just don't understand how when I'm running a play that for the most part I have no choice but to follow the play as designed, I end up getting tackled for a loss nearly 95% of the time in Superstar mode and 75% of the time in Franchise?

Well, Superstar mode is a broken mess, and always has been. Try playing as a defensive lineman if you really want frustration.
A lot of the outside runs don't work that well in Madden, and really never have. But, in real life they tend to be plays that rarely get more than a yard or two, and then every now and then they will bust loose for a long touchdown.

Yes, but getting a yard or two is better than my current record. I guess my thing is that if running the play as run is the best way of doing it, due to the blockers being able to help you in that situation, then I should at least be able to make it back to the line of scrimmage on those plays most of the time let alone get one or two yards. Eh, it's not that big of a deal. It's still frustrating, but as long as I can keep up my record of my only reason for losing is me ing up, I think I'll end up dropping the sixty on it.
