By far this is the fight I am looking forward to most in the coming months.
So, you know the deal. Who wins it? And why?
My picks Florian. Florian's impressed me a lot more than Huerta has. Kenflo just seems like the more well rounded of the two. I can't see Huerta getting Kenflo to the ground, and if he did, I can't see him catching a submission either. I say Florian either wins by TKO, or catches an armbar late in the second round.

I can see K Flo winning here but I would love to see this fight go to a decsion with it being closer rather than a tko or submission,
I wish UFC would allow non title matches to also go 5 rounds for special fights like this or Wanderlei and Chuck

I can also see Florian winning, he holds an edge over Huerta in my opinion.
Also to the five rounds for special fights, I can see where your coming from but what do you define as a special fight? Any fight could be seen as special in one way or another.

The fight would be a WAR.Florian wouldn't hurt Huerta with his standup but his GNP with elbows would.Huerta always moves forward and both have great cardio.

Ok i'm confused .. Jakks announces that there gonna start making figures then all of a sudden there's UFC and MMA fans all over the boards, when before hand when the '' real '' MMA fans had to use the sub - board there were probally about only 5 or 6 average MMA posters ? hmmm ..

Oh and as far as the fight goes i want Huerta to win it. I see the fight going one of two ways. Either Kenny Florian by sumission or Roger Huerta by knockout.

I think Huerta is sometimes underrated because people resent his UFC push. Florian is a dangerous fighter, particularly with those elbows. But Huerta's not an excessive bleeder (although there is a first time for everything).
Huerta really impressed me against Clay Guida, who despite his record, is not an easy opponent. But Guida has a different style from Florian. I actually like Florian to beat Huerta here, but wouldn't be too shocked if Huerta gutted out a decision.

Whoever wins this fight gets BJ Penn for the title and i just think Huerta would matchup better against BJ than Florian would.

Oh I know it's going to be a war, what I can see happening is the fight starts standing, Huerta and Kenflo are even in the exchanges with Kenflo slightly getting the better of it, Huerta clinches, and this is where he gets in trouble. Kenflo landing some elbows and knees in the clinch...then I can see one of two ways, they seperate Huerta shoots a takedown, Florian sprawls, throws him, and Florian on top, or Huerta makes the take down, and Florian hits the armbar off his back out of full guard. |

There's now a board dedicated to MMA,now more people will probably post,that's the whole point ain't it. You act like you've been posting forever but you just recently joined the boards.So be humble. What makes you a "real" MMA fan?....Because you post on a wrestling figure forum? I've been watching MMA since you were in diapers in fact I was learning martial arts when you you were in diapers.So don't assume people are not "real" MMA fans because they rarely posted in a different board. |

I wouldn't necessarily say that someone who never posted in the old threads isn't a "real" fan. Maybe they just never bothered posting. Or, they are more compelled to post now that MMA has its own board. I dunno... I just don't see the value in marginalizing all new MMA posters right out of the gate. It's cool that there is a group of regulars, but more are welcome. |

I don't think whether your a REAL fan should be judged by how long you've been watching. I mean, there are a lot of people that have been watching since the beginning of UFC, and are complete idiots to MMA. So length shouldn't really be a determining factor. It should more be how much a person knows/understands it.
And who cares whose REAL fan and whose a TREND fan, the fact is either way, we as MMA fans now have a place to discuss our mutual interest.

I actually feel like I should have the spot as mod of this board, but congrats to Elden for beating all of us out I guess. All of these new fans are strange to see, but hey, it could be a good thing. I know that these board have been a long time coming, and actually PM'ed Jack over a year ago asking for it and volunteering to moderate it myself. heh. But, let's stay on topic here. I definitely see it going to a decision. Huerta and Florian both have great cardio, so getting tired will not be a problem for either one of them. I would say Roger has the advantage in striking, but the ground game swings in Ken Flo's direction. I see the first round on the feet for the first minute or two, until Florian takes him down with 3 or so minutes left. Rinse and repeat for rounds two and three, and I see a unanimous decision for Florian. Penn vs. Florian at UFC 92 or so would be excellent. |

You should be happy that the sport has grown as much as it has over the last few years. The success that UFC and MMA as a whole has reached a level unimaginable in the last few years. There's no need to ruffle out your feathers to show that you're a "true MMA" fan. Just be happy that the sport is growing as much as it is. |

Hey I've been arguing with Ingasson & Kliquid for years over there respective love for Shamrock & BJ. Walks away feeling very unloved boohoo!!! I think it's great that there are more UFC fans personally. It's great to see how this sport has grown over the years, a few years ago I'm having to preorder UFC events through tapetraders to see it in the UK & now we're getting them live here in the UK & so many other channels showing vrious MMA as well, quality stuff. |

I'm going with Florian here I think Huerta is very overrated although a tough kid, I think Kenny will be far too crisp for him either standing up or on the ground, Huerta's only chance in my view is dragging it into a slugfest but florian is far too smart for that. Although I agree that neither will do much against BJ rumours still hint BJ is now after big fights & going up in weight for his rematch with GSP. If that's the case I can see the winner here getting in a vacant title shot, the question will be who against? A good win against Neer for Nate Diaz would no doubt see him get it, he's looked impressive & has the name value from TUF |
