I think this has gone on long enough, I Think this thread should be locked. Why what is wrong with stating are oppinons? "our opinions" is what you mean. And while I agree that people should express their opinions, it has clearly gone far beyond that as people are just repeating themselves several hundred times. I hate the "wife beater" comments a few people have been saying about Benoit, if you're going to call him that, then call Steve Austin a wife beater as well. |

The person that put his own little spin on my photo has been banned and deleted, so i wouldn't mess with that. And I am a Psychology major in college, so i think i'm just fine as far as evaluations go, but thanks for your useless suggestion. This is the guy I have the most respect for in this entire thread. Stands up for what he believes in, not what the next guy believes in like most people. At least there's someone who is reasonable. Yes, Benoit did what he did, but that doesn't change the fact that it wasn't the same guy i knew. And i'm i've never claimed to be a good friend of his, but i knew him more than most people on here. i posted my story with him on page 3. Feel free to read that and then maybe people here would understand why i feel the way i do. Obviously, Benoit was very kind to me and made a point to send me what he promised 2 days before the murders..hmmm, rather odd he would think to send me something in June that he promised me the November before (the ecw chair). My story's on page 3 and i hope people read that before judging me |

Also, in your story, it seems like he was one of the greatest and nicest wrestler to the fans. |

Just because they never saw the side of Benoit which was responsible for the murders doesn't mean it wasn't always there. You know, this isn't exactly the first time someone commited a heinous act and everyone who knew the perpetrator swore up and down they never knew they were capable of such things. |

Iron Sheik...yeah, and everyone knows he's a  ing psycho, so seeing sheik react like this, proves my point exactly. and notice honky said "We don't know what button she pushed" and 4:38 of the clip i presented would also apply to them, i'm pretty sure Sheik, Honky and New Jack didn't know Benoit hardly at all. |

I loved Benoit the wrestler. I met the guy, and he was super nice. One of my favorites of all-time, in WCW and the WWE.
Unfortunately, the guy was apparently nuttier than a fruitcake, and murdered his wife and child. No matter how much he entertained me in the ring, it doesn't make up for the fact that he is a murderer, and not only that, but a child murderer. Every time I see his name, or any of his matches, I can't help but think of the horrible things he did. I don't care if his brain was the same as a 65 (75, 85? The number keeps increasing in here) year old alzheimers patient, you don't see other alzheimers patients running around murdering their families.
For what he did, he is burning in the very special part of hell right next to all of the other child murderers. Which is exactly where he belongs. I won't pretend he didn't exist, and wasn't an awesome wrestler, but I won't pretend he wasn't a sick, and disturbed human being either.
I have no trouble with people arguing in this thread, as long as people don't make personal attacks. This is a hot topic, and many people have very opinionated thoughts on it, and that's fine. Argue all you want, just keep it civil, and no personal attacks.

Personally, I believe Benoit was an amazing wrestler and easily one of the best. Lets not kid ourselves, he was never the most entertaining thing on TV, but when he was just wrestling (which is essentially all he did anyway) he was great.
I have no problem whatsoever differentiating between Benoit the wrestler and Benoit the man.
The only difficulty comes because he used his real name in the ring. If it were Triple H it'd be easier. Cos then you could seperate them (eg: Triple H was awesome, but Paul sucked, etc.).
As for Benoit the person... I never hung around with him. We were never close friends. I never helped him design his tights, we never sat down and had a conversation together... Yep... I, like everyone here, did not know Benoit. Therefore, I don't really care what he did in his spare time.
Has it directly affected me? No.
Has it affected the product i enjoy? No.
The only difference between now and last year, is that there was an extra man on the roster. Do I miss his matches? Sure. Who doesn't?
Fact of the matter is when Benoit was on my TV he was wrestling. I like wrestling, so it is in my interest to watch him wrestle and see him do his stuff in the ring. When he left my TV, he pretty much left my mind, and made space for Booker T or Kane or whomever was going to come out next. I didn't know Benoit personally, so i really don't care what he did.
Kane is my favourite wrestler. So, if i find out tomorrow that Kane was found dead in a public toilet with three prostitutes, one of whom he strangled to death and they all died on a big cocaine overdose... will i hate Kane?
No. Kane is a burned, evil monster that wrestles for my entertainment. And I don't know Glen Jacobs, so i really don't care what he does. Will I miss his matches? Sure. But thats about it.
I cant have some huge resentment for a wrestler. Where does that fit in in daily life? I can't stand around all day expressing my hatred for John Cena or wishing a career-ending injury on Triple H cos he plays politics.
They wrestle either way. Benoit wrestled and he did a damn good job of it. And i respect him for that. I'm a huge wrestling fan, so I do miss him being around. Like anyone else, when he is on your TV screen for so long, you just get use to him being there.
... But hey... Isn't that why we all have our own opinions?
