Bound For Glory

So here I am, Bound for Glory, the Wrestlemania of TNA’s year. I’m sitting down in a dressing room. The tension is killing me, I’ve been here for hours so I flick open a copy of Pro Wrestling Illustrated after flicking past a full 2 page spread of ‘The Brian Kendrick’ (again) I see a article on the X-Division titled ‘The Re-birth’ which made me feel a whole lot better especially with a large picture of me hitting the London Star Press. After reading this I go for a jog around the arena and notice the fans coming in (Wow there’s loads of them!) I continue to warm up as TNA starts.

Match 1: Velvet Sky & Mr. Kip vs. Cheerleader Melissa & ODB
A fun opener, it started with some real wrestling between Mel and Sky before making the tag to their partners. After the obvious power moves by ODB on Kip he would tag back out to Sky who continued the rest of the match before Kip sneaked up behind ODB and put a bag over her head leading to Sky getting the win with a quick roll up.
Winner: The Beautiful People (Velvet Sky & Mr. Kip)

The camera’s turned to AJ Styles who was with a interviewer. He explained that TNA has been though a lot but if you look back in the history there is one name that stands out, AJ Styles and he will prove Joe why tonight when he takes the title off him.

The next match up was the tag match between newcomers Checkmate and Beer Money. I am surprised that Checkmate have been immediately thrown into a storyline but that just shows how good they are.

Match 2: Beer Money (James Storm & Robert Roode) vs. Checkmate (Lionel Knight & Shawn Bishop)
Checkmate stepped up to the plate once again this time putting on a more impressive match than on Impact. Storm and Roode had countless arguments that led to their down fall. Knight knocked Storm into Roode (who fell off the apron) then rolled Storm backwards to let Bishop hit a flying lariat while Knight combo’ed it with a german suplex.
Winner: Checkmate (Lionel Knight & Shawn Bishop)

Checkmate got to the back and our crew congratulated them before they were called into the office. I went off to get my gear on and Shelley and Sabin were planning some last minute spots for their matches. Kaz made his way out with a mic in hand he explained this is his last shot in TNA, if he loses he isn’t coming back. Then out came his returning former friend/partner/enemy Matt Bentley ready to challenge him.

Match 3: Kaz vs. Matt Bentley
A truly superb match-up these 2 blend together like nothing on earth and were given a long time to work with. When Kaz hit the Flux Capacitor everyone thought it was over but Bentley somehow got a shoulder up. Bentley even had Kaz down and mouthed ‘I’m Sorry’ before going to hit a superkick but Kaz counted with a german suplex into a reverse lung blower but as Kaz lifted his opponent he was struck with a superkick and pinned.
Winner: Matt Bentley

Bentley lay flat out on the matt as Kaz shoved his head into the floor, nearly in tears Kaz kept his had down. Then Bentley went over to him and placed his hand on his back before the lights went off. As the lights came back on Bentley was in a pool of blood and Kaz raised to his knees looking scared and confused at a mask, the mask of Suicide.

Up next was the multi-man Ultimate X with the winners advancing to face Christopher Daniels. All of us competitors were told to gather around as we (and the rest of the world) watched the rules be displayed:
One man enters every 2 mins
Eliminations occur by pinfall or submissions
2 mins after the last man enters the elimination rule will stop and anyone can go after the X

Match 4: Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, Petey Williams, Alex Koslov, Paul London, Jimmy Rave, Johnny Devine, Austin Creed, Puma, a mystery man
The match started off like a house on fire with all me fighting, flying and making crazy moves. The first elimination was Austin Creed after Petey Williams hit a amazing Canadian Destroyer. After a crazy tower/totem pole move by most competitors Johnny Devine was pinned by Lethal. I made my way out (with Hemme) and battled with my rival Jimmy Rave. Alex Koslov was next to go after a Lethal Injection followed by Puma by Sonjay with a 450 splash. The 5 remaining men looked at the tunnel were Senshi stood! The fans went crazy as he walked to the ring slid in and took everyone down with stiff chops and kicks. He was stopped by a dropkick/dropsault combo by Lethal and I. I then eliminated Rave just seconds before the timer.

Now the second part of the match kicked in, no eliminations just Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, Petey Williams, Senshi and I all fighting to get the X. I battled with my former rival Sonjay. Lethal and Petey battled on the wires before Lethal hit a crazy Lethal Injection off the wires. I spotted Senshi up on the wires and quickly took action, as I go up there we delieved kicks to each other before Senshi nearly fell off before wrapping his legs around the wires as I whacked at his hands causing him to only hold on by hit legs. Meanwhile Sonjay had Petey on his shoulders which caused Petey to jump up and hit a Piledriver from the falling Senshi. Everyone was left down, Sonjay and Lethal started battling and Petey soon got involved so I climbed on top of he wires! As I tries to balance standing on top of the X I jumped off nearly hitting the rafters with a London Star Press wiping out everyone giving this match a 6th ‘Holy Shit’ chant. Senshi and Lethal were the first to their feet and took it to the wires were Ki kicked Lethal square in the face sending him down to the matt as Senshi took the X.

I got to my feet and looked around the fans were on their feet with a ‘London’ chant, Lethal was also getting to his feet and we shook hands and raised them. Meanwhile backstage Senshi was giving a backstage promo with X in hand explaining on why he returned before being interrupted by his opponent Christopher Daniels.

Daniels: Ahh Senshi by friend, my foe, my brother. The father’s welcome you back fully into your new home. I see you have wan the Ultimate X match, well done. Now tonight you will face me, in a battle of the sons. So Senshi do we do battle tonight like brothers…or like enemies?

Senshi: Chris you sure do speak a whole lot of bullsh*t, tonight I battle to win that (points at belt) The X Division Championship (walks off)

Daniels: But my brother get ready to face the consequences (no reference to Creed)

The next match was the Knockouts match so Champion Taylor made her way out and then challenger Angelina Love followed with Velvet Sky and Mr. Kip. This was the first title match of the night.

Match 5: Taylor vs. Angelina Love
A ok knockouts match nothing special, the first half of the match focused on cheating by Velvet Sky and Mr. Kip but were kicked out by the referee. The rest of the match was your basic Knockouts match. Love surprisingly got the win after a tornado DDT to win the Knockout’s Title!

After changing to my normal clothes I go back to the guys (you know the guys I always hang out with) They were all marking out about my LSP off the top. AJ walked by and talked to me, he told me how he was really liking my style, “maybe you could be main eventing at the next Bound for Glory” As we said goodbye and AJ left I was shocked wow! Next up was the monsters ball match, the rules were explained and the wrestlers entered.

Match 6: Abyss vs. Rhino vs. Scott Steiner vs. Sting
Although this is booked as a fourway it turned into a tornado tag as Abyss and Rhino teamed up as in recent weeks against Steiner and his old friend Sting. Steiner was very slow and only and took a few basic bumps, Sting was bleeding like a stuffed pig after a barbed wire baseball shot to the head. Abyss’s arms were completely messed up and after a double flapjack he was sent onto the bat. Sting took an amazing piledriver off the apron though a table by Rhino as Abyss took Steiner for a Black Hole Slam.
Winner: Abyss

Abyss celebrated in all the carnage until James Mitchell stood at the tunnel with a mic.

Mitchell: Son! How are you, we haven’t spoken in a while…actually since you sent me into the barbed wire! I haven’t forgot Abyss and you shouldn’t either. Abyss you know that I will not stop until you are destroyed and tonight is the night.

A large man around Abyss’s height walked to the ring, he was wearing grey and black tights, he was pretty ripped and stood toe to toe with Abyss before destroying him with powerful moves “This is ‘The Ripper’ Birchill” Screamed Mitchell as the recently released WWE star picked up the barbed wire bat and destroyed Abyss with it leaving him as a human puddle of blood. ‘The Ripper’ took Abyss to the stage were he continued his attack. Then below the stage Mitchell set up a table and Birchill raised his hand and dropped an object onto the table setting it on fire before chokeslamming Abyss of the entrance thought the flaming table! Mitchell and ‘the Ripper’ left as Rhino and medical staff came to Abyss’s aid.

I welcomed Birchill to TNA and asked him to join us, he did and we had a fun time. Up next was a sort of losers match from the Bound for Gold Tournament but are sure to be in line for a title shot if they win.

Match 7: Christian Cage vs. Kurt Angle vs. Booker T
This match was supposed to be with Booker T but unbeknownst to TNA he has left the company (only I know) Angle and Cage however worked very well much like a top WWE match from two of the top guys. As they are TNA’s top draws the fans were insanely load in TNA’s record breaking (for attendance) event. Cage hit his signature frogsplash for the 2 count but as he got to his feet he was slammed by a angle lock and after long screams submitted.
Winner: Kurt Angle

Samoa Joe was backstage cutting a promo on how unstoppable he has been throughout his days in TNA. From starting off ripping though the X Division upto now were he is the longest running TNA World Champion ever and no-one will stop him now.

Match 8: Christopher Daniels vs. Senshi
Just like the Kaz/Bentley match earlier a returning wrestling is challenging his old friend/foe. These two did not disappoint, Senshi did work a slower pace due to having competed in a earlier match and Daniels took advantage by working over Senshi’s right leg even hitting the BME onto it. Senshi hit lots of stiff kicks flying back in Daniels direction but was eventually stopped by Daniels and hit Last Rites.

We all wished Sabin and Shelley good luck before they stepped though the curtain and Daniels came by as we told him about his good match he smiled and thanked us (I seem like a 15 year old mark again)

Match 9: LAX (Homicide & Hermandez) vs. Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin)
This had to be one of the best TNA tag matches since AJ and Daniels were teaming, Shelley and Sabin were using their fast tag moves each few seconds and even before this we saw some fast paced wrestling from Cide and Sabin before the tag was given to the ‘Techniqual Messiah’ Alex Shelley who chain wrestled Cide around the ring before making the tag to Hermandez. Once the big man was in nothing could stop him and Hermandez wrecked though both of the Guns before flying over the top rope onto both Guns. LAX went to set up both Shelley and Sabin for a Gringo Killer and Border Toss but they both counterd, threw Hermandez out and hit the AS CS Rush.

It was time for the main event. Lethal, Dutt, Sabin, Shelley, Checkmate, new TNA star Birchill and I all were glued to the screen for the entrances and were ready to be blown away for the TNA Main Event to end all Main Events.

Main Event: Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles
Be prepared to be blown away (even more so than earlier) this match had it all strong stiff strikes, techniqual submission wrestling and highflying that would make you cry under its beauty. There were so many near falls in the match Joe hit the muscle buster and locked in the coquina clutch a total of 5 times (included a awesome pele counter) The fans were mad into this and were split 50/50 between the opponents and stereo ‘lets go Joe/Styles’ chants. AJ stunned the world by bringing out the frosbie flop, phoenix splash and spiral tap and after Joe kicked out of the Styles Clash Styles was left with one option…the Super Styles Clash 1..2..3

As Styles lay on his knees with the belt the fans went crazy. The streamers fell to the ground as all the faces (including me) stormed to the ring to lift Styles onto our shoulders.

“Damn phone, sh*t the phone!” I jump out of my arm chair spilling hot nacho’s over my ‘man bits’ I then stumble over the phone while trying to cool off my crotch.

?: Hey Paul
Paul: (Still trying to cool down) Can… you…give me a…momen..aghhh
?: Paul, you ok? Its Kev?
Paul: Oh hey Kev, hows it hanging
Kev(in Nash): Long and hard, how’s youse?
Paul: Small and burnt
Kev: Heh?
Paul: Don’t ask, what you want Kev?
Kev: Have you checked the website?
Paul: What? TNA?
Kev: No, big asian titties.org whatda think? you moron
Paul: Thanks for the sarcasm, what does it say?
Kev: Theres only pictures...damn good pictures
Paul: No on TNA
Kev: Its been officially announced the Knockouts are getting their own half hour show
Paul: Oh thats good
Kev: And secondly management has asked me to ask if you can work our Saturday show
Paul: Ughh, yep I’m fine with that, where is it?
Kev: In the motor city itself
Paul: And I gotta get there by Saturday
Kev: Yep
Paul: I should be able to do it
Kev: Well see you there Mr. small and burnt
Paul: Your never going to live that down are you?
Kev: Nope

The phone went dead, he had hanged up. Good olde Kev, always good for a laugh. I look down at my genitals scolded, burnt and…cheesy.

“Yo London how are you man?”

These are the first words I hear when I step out of my car ready for the house show which took me over a day to make. The words came out of the mouth of a certain X Division Champion AKA Alex Shelley.

Paul: Fine, what about you?
Alex: Just check out the bling on my shoulder
Paul: Keeping it warm for me are you?
Alex: Still bitter ‘bout what happened
Paul: Darn straight

Me and Shelley then wondered inside talking our random dribble then.

Sabin: PAUL!
Paul: Someones excited
Sabin: Hell yeah, we’re in Detroit baby! Its home for us
Paul: What match you got tonight?
Sabin: One-on-one it will blow the freaking roof off
Paul: Nice, what about me?
Sabin: Steiner
Paul: What? You sure
Shelley: Yep says right there

I was pissed, I travelled all this way ready to make my return at a house show just to job to Scott Steiner of the Main Event Mafia. I have no problem with Scott but I haven’t faced a heavyweight yet and I’ll probably have to do a job. So since then I have been like a 6-year-old kid moping in their room.

Road Agent: Paul your match is up
Paul: Thanks

I walk though get a good reaction from the crowd, I’m still abit down. I don’t really want to pump the crowd up only to see me get squashed. Steiner came down, pretty good heel heat. Then the bell rung, it won’t be long ‘till it will ring again I thought.

Paul London vs. Scott Steiner
BANG! Clothesline knocking me to the floor, followed by a few boots to my back. I got up and another clothesline knocks me back down. After a few more minutes of jobbing repetitive action by Steiner and me, Steiner whispers something.

Steiner: You gonna f’n do something kid?

So I hit a few moves like the usual dropsault and a botched monkey flip in the corner (not my fault) After this he takes me down for the 150th clothesline. I hear him again.

Steiner: Dude hurry up just finish this
Paul: Well go on then
Steiner: What? Your supposed to win, right?

I’m supposed to win? I get it! I never checked who won I just look at my opponent. So I set him into the ropes and hit a flying clothesline and bounce back up HBK-style. After a few more moves to pump up the crowd I am able to ascend to the top where my London Calling secures me the win.

I get to the back and have a few welcome back and tap on the back speeches from the guys. I get to the locker room and sit on the bench. I wonder why would they put me over Steiner? Does this mean a push?
