Against All Odds PPVI arrive with Shelley and Sabin after a day journey from our house show in Detroit. As I got there Kevin Nash briefed me on my match and my upcoming angle. I warmed up and got dressed and it was time for the show to start.
The pyro warmed up the arena as the announcers welcomed us to our Against All Odds PPV. Jimmy Rave then walked out with his partner (who he has made up with) Lance ‘I change my name more than my pants’ Rock and Christy ‘I cheated on London because I’m a bitch’ Hemme. Then came fan favourite Sharkboy no longer donning the SCSA gimmick but he stopped and looked behind him were Mick Foley stood.
Foley: You see Jimmy (Rave) I see what’s going to happen here. As soon as the bell rings both Rock and Hemme will jump in and interfere WELL NOT THIS TIME! Lance Rock your banned from ringside and Miss Hemme your know in the match! (big crowd pop) but its still 2 on 1 so please welcome from the Deep Blue Sea Shark boy’s little sister, Shark Girl!
Shark Girl, better known as Daffney walked down in the pink mask and attire doing the Sharkboy salute. Shark Girl wrestled in the early days of TNA. The Brother and Sister team slide in and get ready for some action.
Jimmy Rave & Christy Hemme vs. Shark Boy & Shark GirlA lot of comedy spots in this opening match but a good fast pace, this really could have been done on a Impact. After a missile dropkick by S-Girl, S-Boy hit the Deep Sea Driver on Rave for the win.
As the Brother and Sister celebrate the camera cuts backstage were a limo arrives. The driver steps out and opens the back door were Sting, steps out. Then Kurt Angle, Scott Steiner and Kevin Nash follow. They start walking off.
Back in the Impact zone the lights go out and a spotlight circles the arena. Some rock/rap song plays and the spotlight shines at the entrance where the ‘Modern Day Gladiator’ stands (AKA Oblivion to you UK fans) the lights come on and he turns around and walks down the ramp into the ring. Hermandez then enters though his entrance way.
Brutus Magnus vs. HermandezAnother average match to start but both men are considered good ‘big men’ wrestlers. Magnus stuck to slams and hit a trio of germans while Hermandez later fired back with a suicide dive. Brutus pinned Hermandez after a twisting samoan drop.
The female backstage interviewer was standing by with Matt Morgan or as I like to call him ‘
The Plank’Morgan: Abyss! Tonight I prove you are nothing but a failure because tonight you lose…big…yeah
Another great promo by
‘The Plank.’ Abyss makes his usual entrance followed by Morgan.
Matt Morgan vs. AbyssMorgan looked like… well a plank. The match was pretty bad to be fair and I’m glad I took a piss half way though. Abyss mercifully finished off ‘The Plank’ with a Black Hole Slam.
Abyss started celebrating when ‘The Ripper’ Birchill ran down and hit Abyss with a torture rack. Birchill held Abyss on his shoulders before slamming him down. James Mitchell walked down and announced that Birchill was back.
All 5 competitors came out for the X Division ranking match then Mick Foley made an appearance once again.
Mick: I brought back the ranking match because I always loved the concept and the matches but theres one thing missing in this match and that’s that we’re suppost to have 6 men.
As he said this my music played and I walked out patted Mick on the back and ran down to the ring. I then walked straight up to Daniels and I all I could hear is the terrific roar of the crowd.
Christopher Daniels vs. Homicide vs. Jay Lethal vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. Lionel Knight vs. Paul LondonSome fast pace, flippy X-Division action. First to be eliminated was Dutt by a Knightfall by Lionel Knight. Dutt took this personally and attacked Knight after being eliminated allowing Homicide to hit a Gringo Killer to eliminate Knight. After a 450 from the top to the outside onto everybody by me Daniels eliminated Lethal via Angels Wings obviously wanting his title back after being stripped off it. Homicide was then eliminated by yours truly after a super-frankincenser. It was down to me and Daniels we paused for a quick breather then went at it. In the end Daniels lost to a London Calling.
After a brief celebration with the fans I went backstage were I was summoned to do an interview.
Interviewer: I’m now standing here with the winner of the last match Paul London, why did you decide to come back tonight?
Paul: Well I was sitting at home and I got a call from Mick Foley. He asked me if I wanted in, of course I accepted as I got a chance at the title and could get my revenge on Daniels and I did both
Interviewer: Your not scedualled back for another 2 months yet, are you fully recovered?
Paul: Hey, it doesn’t matter because I’ll just go out there every night and give it my all and…
After this AJ Styles, Rhino and Team 3D walk in.
Ray: Welcome back London, its good to see you back but since you’ve been gone everything has changed
AJ: Our war between the us and the M.E.M has grown and…
Rhino: Lets cut to it, your either with us or with them!
I looked straight at them, especially Rhino who seemed to have accidentally spit in my face.
Paul: I’m in
AJ puts his arm around me as we all walk off
As the camera goes off AJ and Team 3D burst into laughter, they saw the spit on my face and had a hard time not laughing after that. I wiped it off laughed a little and went to get dressed.
TNA Tag Team Championships
Beer Money (James Storm & Robert Roode) (c) vs. Austin Creed & Eric YoungA random teaming by TNA, Beer Money have improved a lot since I have been away but Young and Creed look a little mix matched. Roode gets the pin on former rival Young with the Payoff.
Backstage I’m all dressed in my normal clothes, I go over to both Shelley and Sabin and wish them good luck before walking off with Knight to watch the match.
TNA X Division Championship
Alex Shelley (c) vs. Chris SabinBoth men played off each other perfectly, it was better than their previous match at Genesis. The fans have jumped on Shelley’s heel turn and have gone back to their ‘peanut butter Shelley time’ Sabin went for a Future Shock but Shelley countered and hit the Shellshock to retain the belt.
Backstage the whole Main Event Mafia was standing by they hyped up their matches.
Scott Steiner and Kurt Angle vs. Team 3D (Brother Ray & Brother D-Von)Quite a slow match that you would expect to see n a main event on Impact. The fans were very into this and near the end it seemed to get better after the famous ‘D-Von get the tables’ catchphase. D-Von got the table but was stopped by Angle flipping to the outside. Angle put D-Von though the table with a Angle Slam to get the victory.
Backstage we see Sting walking down the corridor and AJ by the apron throwing some fists. Before the competitors enter Kevin Nash comes out and kicks Mike Tenay from commentary. He then does a very biased tale of the tape saying AJ is only 3 foot tall.
TNA World Championship
AJ Styles (C) vs. StingA surprisingly great match between the two, back and forth these guys wrestled as Kevin Nash gave some of the greatest commentary known to man. Lots of near falls kept the fans on their feet and after a Styles Clash it looked to be over but Sting managed to kick out. After a few more minutes of action AJ quickly bounced up from the Scorpion Deathlock into his second Styles Clash for the win.
After wards AJ celebrated but Angle and Steiner ran down to beat him up. Then it was Rhino and myself’s turn to run down. We battled back and forth until a familiar theme played it was Samoa Joe! He walked down and scared the M.E.M away without touching them. AJ went to shake his hand but Joe just left not looking back.
