Packers Survive Dallas in Mudbowl GREEN BAY – In what proved to be a game that lived up to the hype, the Packers came out victorious over 30-22 over Dallas in a rainstorm of epic proportions.
Both teams exchanged early blows and went back and forth through the course of the 1st half. Whatever one team did, the other answered right back. The Pack headed into halftime down 14-13.
In the 2nd half, Green Bay came out firing and went up 20-14. After a late drive stop, the Packers drove it down the field again for a 27-14 lead. After a Jason Witten touchdown, the Cowboys cut the lead to 27-22. With under 2 minutes to go in the 4th, the Packers drove the ball down the field and kicked a field goal to put them up 30-22 with just under a minute to go. The defense held up long enough for Green Bay to pick up the victory.
Aaron Rodgers led the team connecting on 18-24 passes for 287 yards and 2 touchdowns. Donald Lee caught a bulk of it, catching 4 passes for 64 yards and both touchdowns. Ryan Grant added 107 yards on 29 attempts.
"It's always dangerous in those conditions" said Coach McCarthy. "When you play on that slippery of a field, the injury rate sky rockets. I'm just happy we left with a healthy team and a victory."
Green Bay heads into Tampa next week to take on the 2-1 Buccaneers in what should be a heated matched up.Highlights from the Game

Packers Win Battle of the Bays on Last Second Field Goal GREEN BAY – The mercury wasn't the only thing rising in Tampa Bay as hearts raced when Mason Crosby knocked through a 51 yard field goal with 3 seconds remaining to give Green Bay their 4th victory of the year.
Green Bay came out focused and scored an early 10 points on Tampa after capitalizing on an early turnover. However, after some fumbling troubles, the Packers found themselves down 14-10.
In the 2nd half, Will Blackmon took off the opening kick and was hit hard, causing a fumble that Tampa scooped up for a touchdown putting the Packers down 21-10. After a late drive stop, the Packers drove it down the field again for a 27-14 lead. After some solid drives, Green Bay tied the game up 24-24. Tampa Bay was on it's way to victory when Charles Woodson picked off a Jeff Garcia pass. Aaron Rodgers lead the team into field goal territory when Mason Crosby knocked it through for the victory.
The story of the day was Ryan Grant who went for 135 yards and 3 touchdowns.
"I'm just glad I could make plays for the team" said Grant. "When we need a first down, I want to make sure my team knows they can rely on me."

Packers Survive Mistakes to Top Atlanta GREEN BAY – In what would seem like an easy defeat, the Packers let the Falcons hang on a little too long and barely escape Lambeau with a 27-22 victory.
Green Bay came out on fire, putting up 17 points in the first quarter alone. Atlanta had no answer for Ryan Grants rushing attack as he racked up over 140 yards on the ground. The Packers took a commanding 24-3 lead at half.
In the 2nd half, Brandon Jackson got the ball on a 3rd down draw and fumbled in Green Bay territory, setting up an Atlanta touchdown. After an unsuccessful drive, Atlanta drove the field again for a touchdown. A 2 point conversion made it 24-22 with very little time remaining.
Aaron Rodgers kept his cool and drove the team down for a field goal with under a minute to go to put up the Pack 27-22. The defense held and Green Bay escaped with a victory.
Coach McCarthy addressed the media after the game.
"I'm pleased we got a victory, but that's not the kind of play I want to see out of this team. You don't overlook anyone in the NFL, and we almost got beat."
Green Bay heads to Seattle next week to take on the 4-1 Seahawks.

Packers Continue Streak and Take Down Seattle GREEN BAY – On a cold rainy day in Seattle, Green Bay managed to drive into Qwest Field and take a victory from the Seahawks 30-20. The 12th man was in full effect, but Rodgers kept his cool as leader of the Pack.
An early offensive fury by Seattle put them up 17-6 at the end of the first quarter. After a 2 minute drive, Green Bay scored on a 10 yard pass to James Jones that put the game at 17-13 going into the half.
After the break, the 3rd quarter belonged to Green Bay as they outscored Seattle 14-3 putting the score at 27-20 heading into the 4th. Seattle drove down the field into scoring position, but were derailed when Al Harris picked off a slant pass and returned it 32 yards to the 22 yard line setting up Green Bay for a FG to put the game away 30-20.
James Jones has the biggest game of his young career, catching 8 balls for 105 yards and a touchdown.
"I want to be a big contributor" said Jones. "We have so much talent at the wide receiver position, so I gotta make sure I showcase my skills when the opportunity is there."
Green Bay heads back to Lambeau to welcome Peyton Manning and his 6-1 Colts in what should be a barn burner.

Game Stats:_________ | Green Bay | Indianpolis | Score | 31 | 37 | Total Offense | 392 | 414 | First Downs | 17 | 20 | Turnovers | 3 | 2 | Time of Possession | 14:59 | 17:00 |
Packers Suffer First Setback of Season GREEN BAY – In what proved to be a match-up worthy of the hype, the Packers lost their first game of the season as the Colts pulled out a 40-31 victory over the Pack.
Both teams came out firing early with Indianpolis capitializing on touchdowns, while Green Bay had to settle for field goals. The Packers were down 21-6 at the half, unable to punch the ball into the endzone.
In the 2nd half, Green Bay picked things up, picking off 2 Peyton Manning passes and getting themselves back into the game. With the score 37-31, Green Bay drove down the field and put themselves in position for a game winning touchdown. However, a fumble by Ryan Grant was recovered and taken back 44 yards by the Colts, setting them up for a field goal that sealed their 40-31 victory.
"It's never an easy thing when you lose at home" said McCarthy. "Like I tell my team, if you don't win the turnover game, the chances of you winning the game go down to almost zero. We'll just get back at practice, focus on correcting the issues and get ready for Tennesee."
Green Bay will have to travel to Nashville to take on those Titans in 2 weeks. They'll look to rebound against a stingy Titan defense.

I'm lucky the score was that close, because that was honestly the worst game of Madden I've played so far. It might be because my Madden IQ is getting extremely high, but no excuses really. Would help if the QB's weren't throwing with 85% accuracy every game though.

Currently 672. Everything is up to All-Madden difficulty. Oddly enough, my defense seems to play better.

Stingy Defense Nets Green Bay a Win GREEN BAY – Throughout the week, analysts and fans alike were expecting a physical defensive battle between both teams, and they got exactly what they asked for.
The teams came out playing smashmouth football from the start, and not letting up for 60 minutes. The score was 7-7 at halftime with only 100 yards total offense for both teams.
In the 2nd half, much of the same continued, as the entire 3rd quarter went scoreless. After a turnover in Green Bay territory, Lendale White walked in a 4 yard touchdown to put the Titans up 14-7. Green Bay was able to answer with a TD on an 11 yard run from Ryan Grant. With 2:35 remaining in the game, Vince Young's slant pass over the middle was picked off by A.J. Hawk and returned a pass 35 yards to the 17 yard line. The Packers ran down the clock and kicked the game winning 19 yard FG as time expired.
"I was watching Vince scramble, so I had my eyes on him the whole time" said Hawk. "When the ball was coming my direction, all I could think was don't drop it. Luckily, I was able to make a play for this team and get us a victory."
Green Bay heads out of the music city and to the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis to take on the division rival Vikings next Sunday.

Packers Defense Derails Vikings GREEN BAY – In what is quickly becoming one of the most heated rivalries in the NFL, Green Bay was able to top Minnesota on their home turf and put them at 6-0 vs the Vikings in the Mike McCarthy era.
With the rushing game held in check, Aaron Rodgers shredded the Minnesota defense for 329 yards through the air. Ruvell Martin hauled in 5 catched for 108 yards and 2 touchdowns while Donald Driver and Greg Jennings hauled in 5 of their own. Adrian Peterson rushed for 139 yards on 28 attempts with a touchdown. Aaron Kampman was all over the field chasing down Tarvaris Jackson, and sacking him 3 times.
Green Bay found themselves up 25-20 with 2:38 left in the game when Minnesota began their drive with 3 timeouts. Behind the legs of Adrian Peterson, the Vikings drove into Green Bay territory with a chance to win. However, Jackson was hit by Kampman on a throw over the middle which was intercepted by A.J. Hawk and returned 68 yards to seal the victory.
"Last week was great, but returning this one for a touchdown to seal the victory on the road against a rival is even better." said Hawk. "That kind of moment is why I play the game of football."
Green Bay will head back to Lambeau to take on another division rival in the Chicago Bears. Mike McCarthy is just 1-3 vs the Bears since his start in Green Bay.

Packers Beat Bears with Defense GREEN BAY – The Packers got a win with defense as they defeated the Chicago Bears 21-13 in the best rivalry in the NFL.
Green Bay's high powered offense was held in check throughout the game with only 153 yards of total offense. Ryan Grant accumlated most of that with 81 yards on the ground. Green Bay played some tough defense in the first half as well, allowing only 3 points for a 3-0 deficit at halftime.
Chicago went up 10-0 to start the 3rd quarter, and Green Bay looked to be in trouble after a 3 and out. However, Charles Woodson picked off a pass in Bears territory to set up a touchdown for Green Bay. Later in the game, Chicago was driving when Charles Woodson picked off another pass and returned it inside the Bears 20 yardline, setting up another touchdown for Green Bay. After knocking through a field goal, the score was 14-13. With the Bears driving in the 4th, Charles Woodson picked off his 3rd pass of the game and returned it for a touchdown, sealing the victory for the Packers.
"Well, I know I have the ability to make those kind of plays, but you never anticipate 3 in a game." When asked about Woodson being the front runner for Defensive Player of the Year, he seemed to shrug it off. "It's always nice to be recognized, but as long as we get the W, it's all good."
Green Bay will travel to New Orleans to take on the 7-3 Saints in the Superdome on Monday Night Football.

Packers Come up Short in New Orleans GREEN BAY – The Packers struggled offensively and fell to the New Orleans Saints 24-17 Monday night in a hard fought battle..
Green Bay came out in a great rhythm, driving down the field and hitting a 28 yard pass to James Jones to put them up early. New Orleans came back with a touchdown of their own to knot the game at 7-7 going into the half. The teams were near identical stat wise at the break.
Both teams were relatively quiet in the 3rd quarter, with Green Bay netting a field goal to put them up 10-7. However, in the 4th quarter, Green Bay's defense couldn't get off the field, and allowed 2 touchdowns for a 21-10 lead. After a quick drive down the field, Rodgers threw a strike to Greg Jennings for a touchdown that put the score at 21-17. After getting the ball back, a costly fumble by Brandon Jackson inside 2 minutes gave the Saints prime field position to run out most of the clock and kick a field goal. With no timeouts and 44 seconds, Green Bay managed to drive inside the Saints 20, but were unable to put the ball in the endzone.
"Well, the turnover game is huge." said coach McCarthy. "Obviously, it came down to more things than that tonight, but we can't give up the ball in the 4th quarter."
Green Bay will travel back to the cold Wisconsin Winter and take on the Carolina Panthers at Lambeau on Sunday.

Packers Pummel the Panthers with Rush GREEN BAY – The Packers rebounded Sunday as they topped the Carolina Panthers 19-3 in the a frigid day at Lambeau Field.
Green Bay came out on a mission to run the football, as they scored a touchdown on a huge 12 play drive to start off the game. The defense was punishing as the Panthers had absolutely no room to get any kind of offense going. Thanks to a stout effort by the front 7, the Panthers only managed 21 yards on the ground the entire game. Nick Barnett and A.J. Hawk combined for 23 tackles as the linebackers took over.
The Packers went up 16-0 and halftime and continued their ground assault in the 2nd half. After a demoralizing 16 play 9 minute drive by Green Bay, they put the game away with another field goal and left the field with a dominating performance. Ryan Grant finished the game with 144 yards and a touchdown on 20 attempts, and Brandon Jackson added 74 of his own.
"Establishing the run in cold weather is always your first priority." said coach McCarthy. "If we can be physical in the trenches, we feel like we can't be stopped." Regarding the tough loss last week, many fans were eager to see Green Bay come out strong. "I liked the effort today." said McCarthy. "It's nice to see everyone bounce back after a tough loss."
Green Bay will stay home for the week and welcome the AFC South Houston Texans. Look for Green Bay to keep up more of the same in what should be freezing conditions at Lambeau.

Some thoughts on the game.. Chicago - Man, I was a beast this game. All the Charles Woodson INT's were USER Picks. Sure, Chicago has a terrible QB, but I still did a lot of good shit. Saints - Ridiculous game. I mean that because the QB's are so laser precise no matter what you do. I think Brees was 24-26 in that game. It really isn't out of the norm either, which pisses me off. Every QB I've faced so far has at least a 75% completion rate. Also, the "unstoppable under 2 minutes" Madden thing strikes again. I actually lined up with a FIELD GOAL BLOCK for 3rd and 2, and my D still didn't stop it. Panthers - Pretty easy game once you keep them off the field. Delhomme was still like 17-19, but they had no rush offense at all, so I suppose that made up for it. Really, my biggest problems with this game are still.. - QB still throws over 70% accuracy EVERY GAME. You see so many throws where it is not possible to complete.
- CPU Offense is still unstoppable under 2 minutes when they need a big play. It's really frustrating and annoying considering that it's been in Madden how long?
- If a QB lobs a throw, the WR will dart about 5-6 yards as if he teleported. I see this every game, even with my WR's and it looks stupid.

I'm really enjoying this. You've inspired me to do my own. I feel you on those complaints too. Every damn game I'm in, if I'm up by three or seven and the CPU has the ball with a minute and a half or so left on the clock, they will be completely unstoppable going down the field. They could rush up the middle against a field goal block (as you mentioned) and just plow through the defense.
But yeah, very nice job. Can't wait for the next update.
