Season Preview Aaron Rodgers will try to fill the big shoes of perhaps the best QB to ever play the game. It will be an impossible task for him to please the fans who have been spoiled for so long, but there is no doubting that the kid has talent. Hopefully, the Rodgers we will see all season long is the one that came in for the injured Favre in last year's Dallas game. Getting running back Ryan Grant from the Giants for a sixth-round draft pick may have been the steal of the year. He rushed for 929 yards in the final nine games, bringing life to a dormant running game. If he can stay healthy and keep getting those tough yards, it will really help out Rodgers in his maturing process. A deep group of receivers also figures to help out Rodgers. Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, and James Jones are a great team of wideouts. Rookie Jordy Nelson gives the Packers a big wide receiver target for goal line situations also. The defensive front is solid and it could get even better if 2007 first-round pick Justin Harrell makes expected strides after a so-so rookie campaign. Johnny Jolly is expected to recover from shoulder surgery to be Green Bay's best inside rusher. Defensive end Aaron Kampman keeps getting better and better. He had 15.5 sacks in 2006 and came back with 12 last year. With Nick Barnett and A.J. Hawk, the Packers have one of the brightest up and coming linebacker duos in the NFL. Barnett is near Pro Bowl caliber and Hawk will be there soon enough. The cornerback spot is very important to defensive coordinator Bob Sanders' scheme as Al Harris and Charles Woodson have the ability to play bump-and-run coverage. Both of these guys are over 30 and age is starting show, but the Packers have begun to add depth with the drafting of Patrick Lee. Mason Crosby is coming off a spectacular season in which he made 31 of 39 field goal attempts and looks to be Green Bay's long term solution at kicker. Jordy Nelson and Will Blackmon look to make an impact in the return game. There are questions at QB, but that seems to be the only thing standing in the way of Green Bay returning to the NFC Championship. With a stellar defense that shows no glaring holes, the Packers hope to make a run again this year. Expectations:
10 wins. Playoff Berth.

Phew, this feels a lot better. I cleaned everything up visually so it's not so hard on the eyes and easier to read. Although Madden 09 has it's problems, it's the first Madden I'll actually take over NFL2k5. Plus, I just find it difficult to play outdated sports games.
I'm working on making everything a lot more streamlined and easier to read as opposed to writing up newspaper articles and all that jazz. Stats of course will still be here, but not an article write-up for every game. The only thing I'll be covering from other teams will be Free Agent stuff and league leader stats.
I have draft classes from my NCAA 09 going from this year 'til 2011 so I will be covering the draft of every team in detail once that time arrives. I honestly think that will be the funnest if the CPU doesn't draft like hehs.
My ultimate goal is to keep this going until the 2011 season and then start over again with another team.
HOLLA

Pre-Season Week 1 Green Bay: 24 Cincinnati: 20
Stats Brian Brohm 14-22 113 yds TD Matt Flynn 4-7 32 yds Brandon Jackson 16att 49 yds Jordy Nelson 3 catches 42 yds
Pretty average game. I'm doing limited stats of guys I want to keep track of during the pre-season. I don't really have position battles besides CB and LB. That is, Chillar vs Poppinga and Jarett Bush vs Patrick Lee. At this point, I'm leaning towards Poppinga and Lee.

Pre-Season Week 2 Green Bay: 31 San Francisco: 6
Stats Brian Brohm 15-20 127 yds TD Matt Flynn 3-5 28 yds Brandon Jackson 19att 54 yds Jordy Nelson 2 catches 14 yds
Pretty easy game. The 49ers did nothing offensively, especially when their starters left. Alex Smith threw 3 INTs in the first half in which the majority of the scoring happened. This is the only game so far that I've had a lot of pressure on the QB. For some reason, o-line blocking is ridiculous on this game, regardless of how poor they are. Either way, I pretty much tossed it around in the 2nd half with Brohm trying different things and running out the clock with Jackson.

Pre-Season Week 3 Green Bay: 13 Denver: 17
Stats Brian Brohm 16-29 142 yds TD 2 INTs Brandon Jackson 12att 37 yds Jordy Nelson 2 catches 13 yds
Man, my 2nd team defense played like crap. Although Denver drove it into my territory numerous times and coughed it up. I was up 13-10 and they scored with under 2 minutes to go in the 4th with that "under 2 minutes we are unstoppable" Madden bull ****. Pretty fun game though. I tried to force a deep ball that was tipped and INT'd on the last drive to give Denver the victory. Oh well.

Pre-Season Week 4 Green Bay: 6 Tennessee: 10
Stats Brian Brohm 12-21 117 yds 1 INT Brandon Jackson 19att 49 yds Jordy Nelson 3 catches 22 yds
This was a complete defensive battle. I didn't really do anything against the 1st team Titans defense because every snap I had about 2 seconds to throw the ball before 3 guys were on me. I understand that the Titans have a good defense, but it comes to a point where you attempt to roll out and scramble every play due to the lack of time you get. It was fun when I actually had time to throw, because I like defensive battles. The score was 10-6 at halftime. I had one opportunity where I finally drove into Titans territory but Brohm got sacked and coughed it up. Fun game though.

Pre-Season Wrap Up
Record 2-2
Stats Brian Brohm 57-92 499 yds 3 TDs 3 INTs Matt Flynn 7-12 60 yds Brandon Jackson 66att 189 yds Jordy Nelson 10 catches 91 yds A pretty decent pre-season all things considered. I was happy that I didn't bowl teams over 34-0 like previous Maddens. I only used Matt Flynn on a few 4th quarter drives so his stats aren't gonna be very impressive. Now I gotta get ready for that Monday Night Football opener against Minnesota. I'm interested to see how the rivalry game difficulty is. Also, with the pre-season I'm just skimming since most people don't really give a **** about it. When the season starts, I'll have better stats and a lot of cool stuff coming.

Packers Get Win on Last Second Play GREEN BAY – A new era started tonight in Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers making his first NFL start. Turns out, his first start will be a victory as the Packers open the season 1-0 after a 27-20 victory Monday Night.
Green Bay came out firing on all cylinders going up 13-0 to start the first quarter. Minnesota knocked a field goal through for a 13-3 halftime score. In the 3rd quarter, the Vikings scored 10 points off of two costly turnovers in Green Bay territory. Once the 4th quarter hit, the Vikings capitalized off of field position and scored with 2 minutes to go in the 4th and putting the Vikings up 20-13.
Aaron Rodgers led his team on an amazing 2 minute drive that led to a touchdown pass to Ryan Grant on 4th and goal. With 1 minute still remaining, the Vikings made an attempt to drive down the field. However, Nick Barnett snatched a Tarvaris Jackson pass over the middle and returned it for a score with only 30 seconds remaining giving Green Bay the 27-20 victory.
"It's great to make plays for the team" said Barnett. "Of course, doing it on National Television at home against your rival doesn't hurt either." Nick Barnett also won player of the game honors with 13 tackles and his INT return. Aaron Rodgers finished 17-24 for 228 yards and 1 TD.
Green Bay heads over the lake to face the rival Lions in Detroit next week at Noon.Highlights from the Game

Alright, that's how I plan on updating my regular season stuff every week. Plus, with playoffs it will go a little more in depth. Draft day too obviously.
Somehow that took way more effort than I imagined.

Packers Crush Detroit GREEN BAY – In their first game away from home this season, Green Bay walked into Ford Field and drove all over the Detroit Lions with a 41-10 victory.
Green Bay came out playing very physical on defense and forced Detroit into a lot of errors. In the first half, Detroit had already fumbled the ball and thrown 2 interceptions. The Packers were able to capitalize on every opportunity, and Detroit suddenly found themselves behind 28-0. After getting some points on the board, the Lions went into halftime 28-3.
In the 2nd half, much of the same continued as the Packers got continuous pressure on Jon Kitna. The high powered Lions offense was held to under 200 yards of total offense the entire game.
Aaron Rodgers led the team with his first ever 300 yard game against Detroit connecting on 19-26 passes for 305 yards and 2 touchdowns. Donald Driver proved to be Aaron's favorite target again, catching 6 balls for 138 yards.
"I think we did a lot of things right today" said Coach McCarthy. "When we play this physical we can force a lot of turnovers. Ultimately, that's our goal as a defense." Aaron Rodgers was awarded the game ball in the locker room shortly after the victory.
In what could be the most exciting match-up of the season, Green Bay heads back to Lambeau to welcome the Dallas Cowboys. The Packers haven't faced Dallas at Lambeau since 1994; a match-up they won 41-20.Highlights from the Game
