So um why isn't there a thread for this yet, it's on in like 2 days. Main Card Light Heavyweight Bout: Chuck Liddell vs. Rashad Evans Light Heavyweight Bout: Rich Franklin vs. Matt Hamill Welterweight Bout: Karo Parisyan vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida Middeweight Bout: Dan Henderson vs. Rousimar Palhares Middleweight Bout: Nate Marquardt vs. Martin Kampmann Preliminary CardLightweight Bout: Thiago Tavares vs. Kurt Pellegrino Welterweight Bout: Matt Brown vs. Dong Hyun Kim Middleweight Bout: Jason MacDonald vs. Jason Lambert Light Heavyweight Bout: Tim Boetsch vs. Mike Patt Welterweight Bout: Roan Carneiro vs. Ryo Chonan Anyway card looks pretty sweet top to bottom, with a lot of interesting fights on the main card particularly.

They always do a good job making Liddell look like he has abs. HAHAHA.

Those abs are the first thing I noticed while looking over that pic. Funny stuff.
I also got a chuckle at how the commercial is kind of entirely themed after Chuck. They used a graphic of ice shattering for every match shown.
Anyways, the card looks impressive. Hope Hendo and Karo can get back to their winning ways.

Does anyone else think the UFC should have either released the Randy info after this PPV or do a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT as Dana loves during the pPV itself?
I just feel the announcement has completely overshadowed a solid PPV, really who is talking about it on the MMA Forums?
Anyway back to the PPV. I see this fight as just a win for Chuck to get a win leading to Griffin. Liddell has always done well against wrestlers, has a great sprawl & ability to get back up, powerful strikes & I just think he should be far too much for Rashad.
The Hamill/ Franklin fight intersts me, Hamil is a great wrestler & has improved his striking, what does Rich have left especially coming up in weight. I'd love to see Franklin get the win but I've a horrible feeling that Hamil will be just too much.
A long time fan of Karo & I was stunned when Alves sparked him & the question is how much has that loss affected him? Karo needs a big win here to stay a meaningful figure in the division but I can see Yoshida pulling it out here.
Hendo has put on some great performances in the Octagon but still 0.2, I can see a slick Palhares giving him his third loss in a row in a huge upset.
Big fan of Kampmann, his striking is insane & Marquardt is a quality fighter. I see this being the fight of the night with Kampmann getting a late stoppage.

I mentioned in the Brock Lesner v.s. Randy Couture thread that I think they should have done the announce either at or after the ppv so that they wouldn't have taken away from this ppv. They should have had Chuck, Rashad, and Dana on ESPN 2 and after the promote this ppv Dana could say that at the ppv that he will have a couple of big announcements concerning the heavyweight title picture and who will face Brock Lesnar next. It would have been a great reaction live when Dana says that Randy is back and will fight in Nov. the crowd would have went nuts.

The Hype from the announcement for UFC 91 has made people completely forget about this PPV. It would've been much more logical if Dana did the anouncement during the PPV. I mean his entire UFC 88 video blog is nothing but Randy Couture this, and Brock Lesnar that.

That's because this PPV is called Breakthrough, brother. HAHA. Yes, the throaty narrator in the commercial told me that much. I just thought it was funny how of all the possible graphics they could use to display something "breaking", they used an ice theme. I get that he's popular, and in the main event, but it was still kind of weird to see when they were showing the other fights on the card. I also can't help but agree about the Couture-vs-Brock news. Then again, I wonder if they could have kept the official news from leaking until the night of the ppv, considering the strong rumors had already surfaced last week.

I can't wait for this show for a few reasons: Chuck Liddell and Dan Henderson fight again, and Yoshida/Karo. Hendo and Chuck are two of my favorite fighters and its been a while since they've last fought. I've also wanted to see Yoshida fight again after he tapped out Kopp..excuse me..War Machine, and Karo is a great opponent.
I see Chuck getting his first KO since the Ortiz 2006 fight and I'd love to see the signature pose again, but Rashad is no pushover. It'll be a tough fight, but Chuck all the way. Dan, however, is in trouble if the fight goes to the ground. He said he has to be careful on the ground, but Palhares made Salaverry tap out with an insane transition from the choke to armbar and made it look easy. I think he should avoid the ground in this fight. I'm a huge Hendo fan, but I'll give Palhares his props. I can see this being a big upset.

I partly think they announced this early so they can start hyping the hell out of it on the PPV.
As far as this show, I think the card came together nicely. I had my doubts but I'm looking foward to it

BREAKING NEWS...PARYSIANS INJURED THE FIGHT WITH YOSHIDA SCRAPPED MMAMANIA: “A last-minute back injury has forced welterweight contender Karo Parisyan to withdraw from his UFC 88 bout with Yoshiyuki Yoshida. Saturday’s UFC 88 card (pay-per-view 10pm ET / 7pm PT) will continue with nine bouts.” Oh well. The welterweight bout was set to be a nice battle between tough Judokas. The precise back injury to “The Heat” is unclear at this time. However, leading up to the fight Parisyan seemed as if this was going to be his opportunity to show his true skills — he was training, searching for redemption and had apparently resolved his problems with “panic attacks.” ======= the guy just cant get a break

Now I'm reading that Thiago Silva is hurt and is out of the Machida fight at UFC 89. Not a good day for me. Two fights I really wanted to see are out the window.
Atleast I still have Liddell/Evans and Henderson/Palhares to look forward to on this show.

Jesus. I feel bad for Karo. The guy should have had a title shot years ago..But something seems to always mess up his momentum.
I'm really looking forward to the Rich Franklin fight. He looks a little smaller than I had anticipated him to look at 205.
