Eh, I don't care. I'm a little chuffed that I kinda had to poke twice for it to no avail, but whatever, it's just a dumb award show. I'm more bummed that I didn't have more presenters step up and I had to go to the f*ckin' WELL to not just parade my own cavalcade of failed characters out (which I did anyway). I'll actually comment in a bit. But it worked.

Just wait til the kid starts hijacking your phone while you try to write your rp and wait for the phone to ring for sub jobs.
The struggle is real friends.

Whatever you want it to be. It all depends on what color you want. I personally keep mine simple with a black, which is like this ( [*b][*/b] without the asterisk ). Brennan can tell ya that with a family and a full time job, you try not to worry too much about coding.

Must be the show, because I didn't see it in the rp.

Make whoever didn't send you the piece give a speech about being responsible and honoring your commitments lol Yeah, that wouldn't go over real well.

Something that I like to do a lot (piggybacking off Brennan's comments) is set hooks alluding to something about the character that I can expand on later. Of course I have the benefit of my character being gone from WFWF for a long time, so it helps to paint a picture about who he is by who he was. For you, Brennan nailed the kind of approach you should take to show Bison in a more real sense. Agreed. I've been an avid reader all my life, particular long multi-volume epics like Frank Herbert's Dune series and the alternate history series of Harry Turtledove. The smallest word or sentence early on may seem insignificant but later on becomes something that can completely change up the story. You have to plant lots of seeds early on. Some of them pan out and others fizzle, but if you don't plant them then nothing will grow. I certainly tried to do that in my first RP. It's difficult to get started as a new character with no history in the WFWF so I had to create an extended family that I can use until Frank Lynn has some WFWF material to work with. I also took advantage of the bio pages and the RPs I read to include a potential hook for future use. In fact, it has already grown in my head to an epic tragedy/revenge story for a certain possible future opponent. If it comes to that, I will have to read some Elmore Leonard to get me in the proper mood veronicaaaahhhh would love you for the Elmore Leonard reference. The big advice we usually give new guys is to worry about your match, focus on finding a format that works for you, and introduce the character and a side character or two so that you have something to establish and build on. I haven't commented on your rp, but I read it and I can see you've got that part down.

It's tough coming up with a "meaty" story. You're still early on enough with your character that the Play-Doh is still relatively soft, and you have a bit of wiggle room with exactly who you want your character to be. I often suggest to new writers that they look at their character in the frame of being an individual with a really unique job. From there, you have all the room in the world to explore how who your character is influences his motivations headed into the ring. When I first started writing David Brennan, all he was was a working class skinhead looking to secure a financial cushion for himself and his fiancé. That was the beginning, middle, and end of it. Along the way, I used that to really flesh out his story - ex-Marine, former firefighter - here was a guy who'd sort of done it all just trying to get by, and now he'd come here to try and lock down something quick to give himself and his girl something to live on. Then I peeled back the layer and had him have this recessed drinking problem that he'd kept in check for so long, til the stresses of the job sort of dragged him back in. It got out of control, and while I paired up to team with Drakz and Kyzer, I went about this whole subplot of Brennan's family trying to pull him back, while his drinking made him a sh*ttier and sh*ttier person. Start with something really small and you can, over time, peel away these layers as you get more comfortable fleshing out your story. Before you know it, you've got something with some real meat on the bone. You've just got to first figure out what kind of story YOU want to tell. This pretty much.

This...I actually got my 2 year old to boo Roman when he comes out. Great. That's pretty telling of fans today. They basically let others decide who they like too. See my rant in the last Roman thread. No one has told me to like him or boo him, and I have my reasons for genuinely disliking him. I only do that with my 2 year old son because it is funny and adorable to listen to him boo, taking into considering he doesn't even really pay attention to the show. Do not make this into something it isn't, because I do not appreciate being lumped in with a fan base that cannot think for themselves.

Queen of string style covering Shinsuke's entrance theme wwe'e entrance theme which is better? That's actually really well done. Obviously the WWE version has more big studio production, but a solid cover. Someone get her to play that live when Nakamura makes his WrestleMania debut.

You predate history Bren, especially as far as WFWF is concerned. You were in AFRWF, right? Ugh, yes. History is wasted on the young. I joined AFR and FZ when I started collecting figures again which was around 8th and 9th grade, which put me around 13 or 14. I joined the e-fed on AFR when I was 16. I'll always remember this cause I jacked the name of my character off this god awful cover band that played at my high school at some drug free assembly thing the day that I went to school with pneumonia doped up on 3x the recommended dosage of DayQuil. It's weird to consider that I've been on this board since I was 16, related boards since 13-14ish, and I'm bearing down on 31 this year. I haven't bought a wrestling figure since the Rulers of the Ring Justin Credible TTL model. I'm sure I'm not the only that has ever done this, but I actually didn't come to WF for wrestling figures. Don't get me wrong, I have/had (my kids have them now) wrestling figures over the years, but I'm not even close to a serious collector. I came for this...WFWF. Since the story is very extensive and @progwd and I never did finish my Inside the Mind shoot, I'll spare you the long version and go with the cliff notes. I actually was recruited by a guy I fedded with at BQWA on the BustedQuad site that went by KD (King David) when he came over here in late 2006. I wasn't happy with how BQWA was being ran after I stepped down as owner, and KD pointed me here, said, "I think you'd do well there." So I showed up, registered, etc. then I started looking around. This is when Rev and CBT had just taken over for Kyzer and Drakz. So I gave it a try, doing both at one time. I left WFWF the first time after losing the IN title to Thunder, and the guys running BQWA basically told me if I didn't choose one or the other that I would be erased from their record books and kinda looked at as the butt of many disparaging jokes (I would basically be their Flaps). When you're young and have put a lot of time into something like this (especially in the owners role), not a position you want to be in. To make matters worse, that forum got hacked and a large portion of the history got deleted, so getting by and large erased would've been pretty easy. So, I chose them because I was a new guy here and hadn't really done much. Lesson here guys, don't be afraid to call someone's bluff.

That Houston/Golden State game got ugly quick. I'm thinking sweep if Houston can't play any better than that. I get that Harden is their all everything and he gets the LeBron treatment in Houston, but he and Dwight Howard have got to start playing better together if they want a chance. If not, take your four losses then blow the team up. They have a lot of talent in Houston, should be better than what they are.

I can't recall how many times Ben has deleted his account on these forums. Is he okay? Double digits at this point. Gotta be. Hell if I know, like you said he does it all the time. I hope he's ok but no clue why he, and a few others, always seem to delete their accounts every few months. Yeah, You tried explaining it to me and I just said "I guess".

So, no joke, on my way to work today, I was straight bumping some serious Jesus rock - I'm that guy who says he listens to everything and means it. No lie - Newsboys, dc Talk, Randy Stonehill, I got that sh*t. This little number here was going to be Daniel Kirkbride's theme at one point before I 86'd that disaster waiting to happen: Guys, I wreaked straight up havoc on a poor, unsuspecting baptist church when I was in high school. I dated the same girl, hardcore Jesus freak, all through high school. Zero point zero in the bedroom department, but she was a much needed sort of good influence on my life when I really needed it, so I don't begrudge her over it - plus it's chill that she was actually all in on what she preached. Anyway, one Sunday I'm sleeping til noon like I did, and she's on the phone. Can I come down to the church, the church band's bassist just moved, we need a fill in who can adopt the funk. I don't own my own bass at the time, but the music guy there is offering up his own five strong Fender as a personal loan, so I haul ass down there. Here's something you don't know about me - I'm the world's last candidate for stoic session musician. I gotta be free to move and bounce and do whatever, and that drives this dude nuts. We're dropping tunes from Godspell and such and I can't stand still and he's telling me how much that's going to upset their sister church that's coming up for the upcoming MLK Jr. service we're rehearsing for. Their sister church. Coming UP. From Alabama, mama. For MLK Day. I refused to quit, going so far as doing the Christian thing and betting him a Coke that his assertion that this southbound church in Alabama would hate my funkadelic moves is the reason baby Jesus cried in the manger. Anyone wanna take a stab at the racial demographic of that there sister church? I was movin', groovin', picking out the lords tunes, and I was doing it on the LOOOOOWWWW end of the sound. Those women LOVED me!!! One woman told me she had the authority and was declaring me an honorary brother man. I won a coke that night. Anyway, that's just a part of the story of how I hung out at a church for two years cause I'm good at music stuff and and even smaller part of how I knew enough about the J Man to write a character that loved him (I'm actually a recovering Catholic). Kirkbride was an awesome character man. I know you thought you 86'd him, but I thought you the direction you were going was the right way to go. But now we got that louse Brennan back, and that makes me happy.
