Joe has absolutely been on a 'different' stage that those three guys hadn't. Like I said, there are only a few, and it honestly has less to do with wrestling skill than overall package. But there are a few guys I'd just say, there's no point for them not to be able to go to the main roster. I'm not going to sit back and put WWE on a pedestal, especially with the horrific sh*t they can easily churn out on a regular basis. Jay Lethal, for example, is another guy that could walk on to WWE TV without ever having been involved with NXT and if they wrote him in CORRECTLY, he'd be on fire. This is less a developmental and 'style' issue as much as it is a creative problem, just like most of WWE's other problems. I know everyone loves NXT right now but this is exactly the kind of mentality that WWE wants you to have. Without being processed through their 'machine,' people are nothing. And this just simply isn't true. Never said it was, but overall, Zayn, Owens and Balor are all better than Joe. Joe signing and being thrown onto Raw right away would be a disaster for a lot of reasons. If he goes to NXT, he can work to drop the weight he gained and actually develop a character that would work in WWE. "Samoan Submission Machine" won't cut it with the casual viewer. He has not wrestled on a different stage than Devitt. Devitt was wrestling for the #2 promotion in the entire world in NJPW, and he's in NXT. It has nothing to do with the "machine." I'm not even a big Joe fan. As far as him cutting weight, etc., I don't really have a comment on it because I personally am ok with all different types of looks and styles or whatever. That aside, there's no way it would've been a disaster. You're not a fan of Joe, you're not a fan of AJ, fine. But just like AJ, hell, even just like Bully Ray (you take what's one of the best heels of the past decade, has had this amazing renaissance and package him up in an old gimmick when you could easily sign him and use his re-invented persona with tons and tons and tons of potential?), they're basically ignoring what's the hottest wrestling free-agent. And it absolutely has to do with their machine. 3.3 million people watching a week and 500,000 people buying ppv's or whatever the numbers are, something isn't translating and what it is is a stale product. Chris Jericho came from the sh*t show that was WCW, walked onto WWE TV with halfway decent writing and immediately had things going on. I'm not saying for Joe to come in, have a championship match right away, whatever. I'm saying there's no reason he couldn't show up, beat down someone stale like Randy Orton, and still have just as much an impact. The casual viewer (that's us) knows who Joe is so we're blown away almost immediately. To the 6 year old that has no idea or the blind WWE fan that refuses to follow any other product, he's a fresh face, regardless of where else he's been because they don't watch it anyway. New Japan, if not the top wrestling promotion in the world, is easily a better production than WCW was on that time. So why would they send these guys to developmental? Because they don't want people paying attention to it. I don't agree that Devitt needs to be in NXT. He could have easily, with some decent vignette build up, or even something mysterious, walked onto WWE TV and had just as much impact, if not even more, than he already has. Someone like Kenta or Mistico has very simple language barriers that need to be worked out before they can show up. Fine. Guys like Steen or Generico I could go either way. But the only, only reason any of them HAVE to go through NXT, is simple. They're trying to do away with the importance of any and all other promotions. It's a business tactic, plain and simple. And it kills what's something very important about wrestling. With how they're trying to push away all indy shows WrestleMania weekend, you can't tell me it isn't their plan. Why do they want people spending money on a Ring of Honor show when they can give them 'all that and then some' with NXT? Now, someone like Fergal Devitt HAS to go through NXT to be 'called up to the main roster' when anyone that's ever seen him work knows full well he craps on plenty of the guys who are already there. I don't want to bag anyone but you guys make your own assumptions. This is, very easily, made to point out to any WWE fan or 'casual watcher' that any promotion that isn't WWE means nothing to them. And I'd probably be ok with that if the product was consistently good on a regular basis, but it isn't.

The idea of Samoa Joe having to 'pass a test' like NXT makes me sick to my stomach and is something I completely disagree with. And I'm fine with the NXT brand. But there are some people who shouldn't be subjected to it. Samoa Joe and AJ Styles are two of the few. I disagree, especially with Styles, but this is about Joe so I'll keep that for a different time. If Steen, Generico and Devitt had to go through NXT, so does Joe. All three are better than him right now. Joe has absolutely been on a 'different' stage that those three guys hadn't. Like I said, there are only a few, and it honestly has less to do with wrestling skill than overall package. Used to love it. Would watch it pretty much every day after school. Watching it now, it's funny how tame so many shows these days are. Guess it just goes with the times.
I've been going through it again on Netflix but fell off once I finally got access to the Simpsons channel. Excited to watch the Bigfoot episode again haha.
It didn't have the greatest direction but for the most part it's a fun show to watch and it reminds me in a very general sense how fun and cool history can be. Plus Scott Bakula is awesome.

Yeah. I liked Mattel's Scoleri Brothers and most of their ghosts, honestly, but I didn't want the overall figure. Just me personally. The only thing I still have from that entire line is the Vigo cardboard that changes when you tilt it haha

Yeah man. Don't get me wrong, I like the Playmates ones but I'd easily replace them with spot on 1st movie figures.
As far as GB goes, I'm a little spent on the entire thing. I think, just like the franchise itself, it's a bit over-saturated right now. If anything I think some decked out versions of the ghosts that Mattel used as accessories would be cool. But I'm also old and jaded and shaking my action figure cane these days

Anyone collect the mini ones? Someone got me Diddy as a gift and he feels naked without Dixie. I was looking on ebay for an older version but it looks like her tone might be different in which case I'd go nuts.

I think they're ok but I don't really think they're different enough or better than Mattel to justify buying basically the same line over. The scans, just like Mattel's leave a bit to be desired but the body and equipment molds look a little better.
What this does make me think is that could Diamond Select get the Turtles license and do the 1990 Movie figures that Playmates should have done?

Fans have been pining for new stars for years, and the WWE are finally making them and they're crying because it's "the wrong one". Despite the fact that over the past year, Reigns was hot stuff and beloved by the fans, when it became known that the machine was behind him the fans inexplicably turned on him. "cancelwwenetwork" is one of the biggest twitter trends right now. There is unquestionably crying from fans. The "don't like, don't watch" reasoning is perfectly valid. If you find yourself complaining about something more than you enjoying it, why continue? What's the point? If again, the fans deluded themselves with possibilities that were never going to happen, then it's really nobody's fault but their own. It's like the equivalent of expecting Crush to win the 1994 Royal Rumble and throwing a tantrum when he didn't win it, even though it was written in the stars that either Luger or Bret were going to win. Being occasionally dissatisfied and non-stop complaining about EVERY. SINGLE. THING are two completely things entirely. People liked Reigns in the Shield because he was a solid upper micard act that had his shtick and did it well. Now he's out there cutting some of the worst promos of all time, tripping over his lines, beating people like Rollins clean for no reason, and he's only got one decent singles match to his name. People see the writing on the wall for Cena 2.0 and they don't want to see that again. Just because you need to build new stars doesn't mean you can stick anyone out there against Lesnar and make it work. Reigns is going to get slaughtered by Heyman on the mic in the next two months, and Brock will wrestle circles around him come March. It's going to be bad. Bryan, Ziggler, Ambrose... those are three guys who can go. Three guys who would make this a hell of a story to experience. ^^^^

I am one of the better examples of resistance to WWE's booking.
I have paid more money for indy wrestling shows than I have for live WWE events over the past 5 years, if not longer.
I haven't spent a single penny on tickets in the same amount of time. And I haven't watched RAW consistently (if at all, I can't remember the last time I watched a full episode of Monday Night RAW) probably since the first season of Ringside or Riot. Turning it off and watching or doing something else is the only way to send a message.
However, the Royal Rumble is my favorite wrestling event (moreso than Mania even) and I watch each and every year, regardless of what kind of fan I am or feel like. My biggest issue last night was Bubba Ray's showing, which wasn't strong or even horribly entertaining. Probably one of the better heels of the past decade, completely wiped away for a cheap pop in a hometown crowd. This is the kind of stuff that makes it unwatchable for me.
Expand your minds. I'm not saying for WWE to reference or even acknowledge TNA. But say last night, Bully Ray showed up instead of Bubba Ray. A complete repackage to the WWE fan who has no idea who Bully Ray is, a fresh character on that stage, and proven strength. He lasts, eliminates Daniel Bryan before he's eliminated by Reigns. One of a million possibilities. None of which were even remotely close to what ended up happening.
I really don't have a problem with (or care) about Reigns winning. But Daniel Bryan's early elimination and the 'dumping' of the bodies at the end of the Rumble were the two glaring examples of horrific 'writing.'
It really does just boil down to Vince being out of touch and still being in complete control. If you listen to the Punk shoot, he references trying to let him know what a horrible main event Batista vs. Randy Orton for Mania 30 was and how Vince just completely did not understand. I think that pretty much sums it up.
Until he's gone, nothing will change and I won't be watching regularly. The Network's not what you need to shut off, though. RAW is.

I haven't watched this since I was a teenager, but let me ask those of you who know...
*SPOILERS*
Didn't the show end with an alien invasion on the day the Mayan Calendar ended? I didn't see the most recent movie so I'm not sure if this was done away with or retconned or anything like that. Any big fans know the answer?
The only reason I ask is the wonder as to what direction they'll go with it. Based on that 'ending' of the original series I'd assume it's going to be something like Alien Nation or Battlefield Earth haha

Anyone here willing to grab me the NECA Batman and ship it if you're able to find one? Still can't even come close to finding this and don't want to pay over 30 bucks at a store. Will even take it loose to make it cheaper, honestly.

This was the last X-Pac I bought back in the day. Thinking about it I'm not sure he ever wore anything this color? I'm probably way wrong. (Nevermind, I just googled it and saw something similar to this while he was with Tori). It's funny I'm just now realizing how little time he spent as a fan favorite and how much it never made a difference to me haha. I'd also be excited to see Syxx of course but if we're doing nWo, the short shorts 2002 version of my man is awesome. And a removable Kane mask just might make it if you ask me!

what was the reason for X-Pac attire choice? because the debut red singlet....or the DX neon green pants would've looked so much better. Hopefully Bill doesn't mind me explaining but I don't think it's anything he wouldn't say in an interview. He said he had the best reference material with the design he went with. I'm glad we didn't get the debut red because I hate that attire but I definitely would've been pumped for this one: Which we haven't seen since Titantron Live.

I'm still having a hell of a time finding this Batman. I know he's around but each TRU in MA I've hit so far hasn't had it. So annoying.
Christopher Reeves Superman would be great, though. Hope it gets made for those that are fans.
This is basically what I hoped Mattel would do with the license and these are turning out way better.

That'd be awesome. It'd fit with those 'legion of doom on speed' guys that they're going to debut who I keep forgetting the name of You mean The Ascension? Anyway Merry Christmas and happy holidays Tom! Haha yes, that's them, thank you! Happy Holidays to you guys, too. I'll post the rest of my gets soon!
