I am a huge Blair Witch Project fan and will defend it until the day I die. That impacted me more than almost any other thing in life, much less movie. I definitely chose the career path I did because of it.
That having been said, I'm not sure how to feel about this. I love that they fooled people and surprised all that it's a sequel. I also love that it's connected the way it is to the original instead of just trying to make another 'found footage' movie. But I can't help but get the feeling it's weakening the legs the original stands on and just trying to build a 'franchise' out of it (my least favorite word.)
Since I'm such a big fan of the original I'll be there, but I'm not going to put much weight on the trailer itself. There are some uneasy, creepy moments in the beginning but as soon as the weird gore sh*t starts I kind of check out.

Most everyone here that knows me knows I am a huge Ghostbusters fan. I have been indifferent for years about new Ghostbusters, including a third movie, because I think movies are just different in this day and age and I'd rather not have an over the top, 'bad-ass' Ghostbusters movie like everyone else wants, including 'passing the torch' (which in of itself is becoming an absurd cliche.)
I think people are embarrassingly lame being worried about 'girl' Ghostbusters and it makes me facepalm knowing some are so far behind, but I still didn't really weigh in.
That having been said, I saw the movie and enjoyed it. The first 45 minutes were amazing...on par with anything else I could watch and funny...it was almost like the Marx Brothers (which it's been said was a key influence on the original two.) The things I hated about it are things I hate about almost all movies this day and age (I am a huge hater of Marvel movies, hate 3rd act 'boss fight' showdowns and audience attention spans that need an action sequence every 15 minutes) and I also wish they had gone their own way in so many cases. They would have had some great, original scenes if they had not had to shoehorn in a reference to the old Ghostbusters and just done their own thing.
Everyone being salty and skipping it because it's 'not their Ghostbusters' are really missing out. I understand sending a studio a message but this wasn't the movie to do it with after all. Should have done it with Ninja Turtles.

Him jumping through tables and onto ladders and kicking sh*t means he's on drugs again?
Isn't stupid behavior just a key factor of Juggalo wrestling events?

If they are going to split the brand, they should have taken the ballsy approach that would have made everyone crazy and actually created a new brand, or brought WCW back from the dead. Different shots, camera angles, style, and actually SPLIT the brand and not just have one stage be red and one stage be blue. The brand split was never a good thing the way it was because it wasn't a brand split, it was still all WWE.
I am reminded of that miserable picture of the Smackdown team celebrating their win with everyone on the roster celebrating with a trophy together and know why I can barely stomach this sometimes.

Also, I love that people hated Stephanie so much over time that when that bait and switch happened in the gif up there, if you watch the video of it, the crowd gasps in horror at the fact that it's Stephanie they were just lusting after in their minds. So good.

I'm all about this and I love Steph and she was always the one that kept me awake at 15 but man was her Mania Mad Max thing or whatever it was stupid. That just brought me to a whole new level of embarassed face palm with the people I was watching with. I appreciated it. It probably was the best thing about Mania. The entrance told the story 100,000 people with bolted mouths shut to watch the dawning of the Roman Empire * fireworks *more fire works. Her telling us what our place is honestly was the best part of the night so kudos. I feel like an idiot to watch WWE anymore so I say her and Triple H's promos leading up to Mania perfectly describe the fan base. Poetic she could've been a Poet. I'm all about the promos, or at least what I saw of them, but wasn't a little out of character to tease her hair up so high and stand on this community-theatre stage giving a monologue? I know Triple H likes to spice up and make his Mania entrances cinematic but she was just so silly. Like sillier than even a giant box of Booty-O's (which was a good silly.)

Give poor Noelle a break. We've been able to work together very little since my RSC capacity changed, but she's bright, fun, intelligent and a good friend. Everyone has growing pains...I had mine on camera for all of you to see over a 5 year period. She's going to have them, too. I think we all could use extra practice at what we love to do, or think we love to do and could immerse ourselves in it even further, but that's up to the individual to come to the conclusion of and step into. I always knew a basic improv class would've done me a world of good, and I never did it.
Shawn Michaels' matches with Ted DiBiase on the network, you see him barely able to land correctly and stand up with bloodied elbows like every other beginner. SHAWN MICHAELS. WITH BLOODY BUMP ELBOWS. You have to get moving somewhere and get into it. You have to, especially in this world of constant content, plug out some junk here and there to learn in order to make those gold bricks. There are lame episodes of Breaking Bad, but as a whole you look back and know what's there (if you're a fan.)
She'll get better and better with time and a chance. If it wasn't meant to be, she will know it before any of us will and simply move on to something else she loves. But if it was meant to be, we'll have a unique talent who has been bred in the medium instead of coming in from an underwear/instafit/modeling/some-other-sport-that-looks-down-upon-wrestling assembly line and only cares about money.
I'm happy for her and hope she's getting good use of the RoR template to learn as much as she can. It certainly seems like it to me comparing her first few episodes to now.

Saw BvS yesterday. I have to be dragged kicking and screaming to a comic book movie this day and age, but I was able to sit through this and enjoy it for the first hour and a half or so. I really don't understand the grief. I found it pretty easy to follow, fairly managed in telling a story (which is what the Nolan movies tend to miss out on) and it didn't get ultra comic-booky for me until that final act, but I knew that was inevitable. It was definitely kind of drab and humorless at times, but I enjoyed Affleck, enjoyed Eisenberg, even enjoyed Gadot when she wasn't quite Wonder Woman yet. I don't have much to say about Cavill (I didn't see Man of Steel) other than that he basically is just a male model on screen. Too bad Brandon Routh didn't work out here. That would've been a fun dynamic. I would sit through this 100 times (ok, maybe like 10 times) over before I sit through another Marvel movie. (I take that back, I'll probably sit through Civil War because I was a fan of that comic arch, but other than that I avoid them like the plague.) Wait a sec.. Are you saying that Nolan's Batman movies did not manage to tell a story? And that BvS did a better job at telling a story? I think they were always a little erratic, for sure, at least Dark Knight. I don't really remember Rises much because that's the extreme example of 'what is going on', don't care for Begins. Don't get me wrong, I love Dark Knight and will always enjoy watching it, but I have never felt like any of them really do narrative wonders.

Can't remember if I ever posted this in here, but has Mattel or anyone else ever made a Dick Grayson Batman? I remember being at a panel one time and someone asked Scott Neitlich that question directly and he said it'd been done, but I followed the line pretty closely and never saw/heard of it. Not finding anything but customs searching the web. Anyone privy to this? Nope. There still hasn't been one. But people have been using the DCC Son of Batman as a base for a custom. Thanks PJ! Man, I wonder what gives? Maybe because it was so quick but you'd think with all the Damiens they've released he'd at least be penciled in. Oh well

I'm a little surprised by the reactions here. What do you guys go to see? Not to pigeon hole any of you, but the summer blockbuster crowd (I go see summer blockbusters as well, even though I'm obnoxiously selective) are directly responsible not only for this looking the way it does, but for it even existing in the first place. Didn't those of you who go see Marvel movies create this monster? I think this is exactly as I expected it to look...goofy popcorn fare, which I think we're all in agreement that the first two are not, but even so... To say that the Marvel films are what led to this is tantamount to saying Jaws led to the this. In the generation of Baysplosion gasm destructoporn - summer fare, Marvel movies are head and shoulders above the competition. For that matter, Bay's movies are in a class of their own as far as vfx and blending real with fantasy. This is a Scooby Doo live action knock off. The existence of SHARKNADO, and it's fandom, is what brought this movie to fruition. That's a closer comparison. This is a cash grab, a desperate attempt to make the namesake work for a new generation that can't differ between "good" and "so bad it's good". Don't put that on Marvel and Co.'s shoulders. Put it on Asylum; on Syfy channel; on low budget schlock spawned from a generation of filmmakers that said "Hey, I finished a movie. I'm so damn great at what I do!" -- they're pandering to the lowest denominator here, while trusting that the name "Ghostbusters" will bring fans in, and the all-female cast will bring the female crowd in, dragging their boyfriends that otherwise wouldn't go. If we're going to put blame where it supposedly goes, let's at least try to put it on the right things, and right people. To say this is remotely in the same league as ANY of the Marvel movies, is silly at the very least. The vfx alone (not taking into account the lack of comedy, poor cast choices, seemingly piss-poor script, and bipolar stylings) are mediocre, and warrant comparisons far lower than such things. I'm a little surprised by the reactions here. What do you guys go to see? Didn't those of you who go see Marvel movies create this monster? I think this is exactly as I expected it to look...goofy popcorn fare, which I think we're all in agreement that the first two are not, but even so... If Marvel films inspired this movie then the trailer would have been way more exciting and actually had some genuinely entertaining and funny snippets and lines....this looked like a bad reenactment of the first film with some forced comedy. I'll still wait to see some more teaser scenes and trailers but so far this is looking as bad as I imagined. I know I'm fighting the entire world here, but I don't look upon the Marvel movies with the same fondness as you guys do. I think they're responsible for a lot of what we get these days. This is a clear attempt to create a 'cinematic universe' (I despise that term) out of a dormant 'franchise.' Sorry, this is much closer to Marvel than to Sharknado. Whether you like the jokes or not, think the cgi looks terrible or not, the template they're using is the MCU one. That's the template that Star Wars is using, too. Blockbusters aren't made the same way they were even ten years ago. I'm in no way saying this is in the same 'league' as the Marvel movies, but that's what they want here and that's what everyone wants. I'm seeing the same shot as they stand there and lick their proton guns, etc, looking 'badass' as I see every time there's a new Avengers trailer and they all stand back to back and the camera swirls around them. There are definitely comparisons, despite this being a clear 'comedy' and those movies not being billed as such. What I think of the Marvel movies I guess is a different argument. But this, Jurassic World, even Force Awakens, to deny that the template they've created hasn't influenced any of these just isn't possible. We could blame JAWS for all of this, really. JAWS led to Star Wars led to so on and so on. The point I'm trying to make is if you watch the first two films, there's a normalcy to it that isn't going to be the case here. Subtlety in the blockbuster is mostly dead. It's just so over the top that it's difficult to swallow. Maybe the jokes would be funnier if the rest of the movie didn't seem so in your face? The best gag for me was McKinnon's Pringles can.
