It was a combination of Vince's paranoia that "Oh, WCW is putting on better shows than us" and his immense ego that led to him believing any two guys can play those characters. In reality it just insulted the fans' intelligence and left WWF in an even deeper hole looking up at WCW.
I am glad, though, that at least Kane's career was able to thrive following this angle.

I think Punk looked best with short hair, then bald, then long hair.
I'm on the side of the fence with Angle being better bald. Joey Mercury too.
The Rock looks better bald. Austin obviously. And I think the one thing that would make Brock even more badass is if he was bald and had the beard he had in UFC.

I don't think I've had that legit "Holy Sh*t" reaction to an angle in the wrestling world since Punk's promo. Sure there's been some stuff (Zayn and Owens challenging for the US Title, Rollins cash-in) that's made me say that, but none of those came at a total, 100% surprise. This did for me.

I remember ESPN talking about it on SportsCenter the day after. It came while I wasn't watching wrestling but news of this brought me back in--his death made me re-appreciate the product I suppose.

Same opinion as 2014 (and 2013, and 2012 for that matter) at this point in time: it's good, better than what it was by far. The talent on the roster is unbelievable and it shows because the match quality has boosted tremendously over the past few years.
But there's logical fallacies in booking--plenty of them, most of them corrected by small changes--that hold the company back. They're doing well, but could be doing so much better if they ironed out the simple things.

The best part was Shelton was booked at GAB 2008. He won the US Title on that show.
Surely Vince had met with him at some point prior to the big meeting.

I think in order to restore the prestige of the IC belt that chamber match should go on last. Have Rollins vs. Reigns for the World Title. Then in the main event:
King Barrett vs. Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Neville vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Randy Orton (with the last two in to give the match more star power).
They could give the belt to Barrett to solidify his push, maybe give him a reign that isn't meaningless. Or Neville could win and cement his spot on the roster (which could work if Rollins retains). Or Sheamus could win and tear up the IC Title division with hard-hitting title defenses. Literally no poor possibilities but if we're thinking realistically R-Truth will probably be involved.
