I give Stasiak's the slight edge over Rey's because at the very least Rey's was used to further the Summer of Punk storyline (granted it coulda been booked 100x better). Stasiak's was the definition of transitional, even less significant than Koloff's reign (because Koloff ended a historic reign).

I still don't understand the rationale for pushing Mabel. Vince wants a "giant" to challenge Diesel but he fails to realize no one on his roster, save for maybe 'Taker, is Diesel's height. You could have a heavier guy challenge him, but with the limited talent pool they had at the time I can't see why they would waste their best workers on a midcard feud to have a heavy dude with little wrestling ability challenge for the World Title.
Bam Bam should've won King of the Ring if Vince was desiring a big man challenging Diesel. It's a no-brainer; he woulda provided a more credible opponent than the Man on a Mission, woulda put on a better match, and was exponentially safer to work with. Hell, he coulda 86-ed the big man idea and had Jeff Jarrett or Razor Ramon or just someone to put on a good match with Diesel.
The King of the Ring shouldn't be a pushover. It should be a guy that WWE brass looks at and goes, "We have faith in him going long-term. We're confident in his abilities given his work to this point and we are confident he can be a big star." And clearly, none of that backing went into 1995's King of the Ring.

At this point NXT could put on Tye Dillinger for two hours and it'd be better than what's on Thursdays, and in some instances what's on Mondays. |
