Tony Schiavone and Bobby Heenan are the commentators on this edition of Nitro.
- Tony quickly mentions that tonight Eric Bischoff will indeed confront Bret Hart over the World Championship and Bret Hart’s injury.
- Heenan believes Hart is faking because he is afraid of Goldberg. Schiavone actually agrees.
- Tony also mentions that Ric Flair will compete against Jeff Jarrett in a non-title bout.
- Heenan brings up it is non title because their will be number one contenders match between Chris Benoit and The Cat with the winner facing Jarrett at Souled Out.
- Tony gives the cue for WCW Nitro to begin!
Match #1: Juventud Guerrera defeated Kaz Hayashi in 6:08 to advance to the fatal four way match at Souled Out for the vacant Cruiserweight Championship. - Hayashi wants to shake hands, but Juventud slaps Hayashi. Juventud ducks a clothesline and takes Hayashi down with a spinning heel kick.
- Hayashi recovers in the corner, and Juventud charges. Hayashi manages to backdrop Juventud over to the floor!
- Hayashi with a slingshot cross body to the floor! Hayashi with a near fall back in the ring.
- Juventud manages to fight back and takes Hayashi down with a springboard dropkick.
- Hayashi avoids a diving attack in the corner and as Juventud stumbles out of the corner, Hayashi connects with a dragon suplex. Hayashi nearly wins the bout.
- Hayashi waits for Juventud to get up, and looks for a super kick. Juventud blocks, kicks Hayashi in the midsection and delivers the Juvi Driver!
- Juventud brings Hayashi over to a corner and connects with the 450 splash for the win!

Gene Okerlund is in the ring and plugs his Hotline. He introduces Eric Bischoff.
- Bischoff comes out to a mixed reaction. Bischoff is very serious.
- Bischoff doesn’t allow Gene to ask a question, he just starts.
- He says that he stands by everything he said two nights ago.
- “Bret Hart, you are over hyping you injury.” Bischoff says that Bret is injured but is not career threatening as he has stated.
- He has been told by Bret’s doctors that Bret needs about a month to fully recover. Which Bischoff agrees to.
- Bret Hart’s music hits.
- Bret enters the ring and he is none to happy.
- Bret says that Bischoff is right. He doesn’t have a career threatening injury.
- The fact of the matter is, Bret doesn’t feel safe in WCW. This is a wrestling company and he is being forced to fight men who only care for themselves.
- “I understand that we are here to fight, but we are not here to kill each other. We all have families. Goldberg nearly took me away from my family.”
- Bischoff could care less. Bischoff says he isn’t going to strip Hart of the title, no. But what he will do is this. Allow Goldberg to get revenge.
- Bischoff announces that Goldberg will face Rowdy Roddy Piper at WCW Souled Out on January 30th.
- Bret doesn’t seem to care.
- Bischoff continues. He announces that since Hart needs a month off to recover, that Hart will defend the WCW World Championship at Super Brawl.
- Hart appears to not like that news. Bischoff announces that he will defend the title against… GOLDBERG!
- Hart flips out. He can not believe this. Gene attempts to calm Hart down.
- Bischoff isn’t done. To make sure no one attempts to screw Goldberg out of the title, and to be fought under clean rules.
- The match will be Bret Hart Vs Goldberg… in a CAGED HEAT!
- Bret Hart is livid. He attempts to go after Bischoff but Goldberg runs down and Hart bails.
- Goldberg points at Hart and signals for the title. Hart holds his title and walks to the back noticeably aggravated.

Match #2: Rick Steiner defeated Disco Inferno in 3:26 to win the WCW Television Championship - Disco dances to the ring and continues to dance even as Rick is in the ring. Steiner with a stiff clothesline.
- Steiner sends Inferno into the ropes and connects with a power slam for a near fall.
- Inferno stumbles to his feet and spins right into a belly to belly suplex.
- Steiner goes to the top rope and plants Inferno with the top rope bulldog for the win.
- Steiner celebrates his title win and delivers a few stomps on Inferno
(64%)Backstage, Gene is standing with “Macho Man” Randy Savage.
- Gene asks Savage what is going on. Savage would like to know as well.
- Savage was brought into WCW some six years ago to be the man, so he was told. But time after time he has been made out to be second fiddle.
- He shows up and Hulk Hogan held him back because he was jealous of Savage. Savage says Hogan has done it in the company up north, and has been doing it here as well.
- Savage challenges Hogan to a fight, tonight to see just who the best is. Savage will wait all night.

Match #3: Chris Benoit defeated The Cat in 9:55 to become the number one contender to the United States Championship. - Benoit with several chops in the corner followed by a snap suplex.
- Cat rolls to a corner but Benoit continues his offense with several boots and chops.
- Cat with a eye rake followed by a series of kicks to Benoit’s chest followed by a standing side kick.
- Cat goes for the quick cover but Benoit kicks out. Cat sends Benoit into the ropes but misses a spin kick.
- Benoit goes behind and connects with a three German suplex’s. Benoit with a cover on the third one but Cat manages to get the shoulder up.
- Benoit sends Cat into the ropes and takes Cat down with a tilt a whirl backbreaker.
- Benoit signals for the head butt, but Cat manages to walk the ropes and delivers a kick to the side of Benoit’s head! Benoit flips back into the ring.
- Roundhouse kick by Cat followed by a short arm clothesline. Cat gets a near fall.
- Benoit with a release German suplex. Cat manages to fight back and goes for the Feliner.
- Benoit side steps the Feliner and locks in the Cross Face for the win.

- Gene asks for Piper’s thoughts on his just announced match against Goldberg at Souled Out.
- Piper asks Gene how he would feel. Before Gene can answer, Piper answers.
- “To be honest with Gene, I’m afraid.”
- Gene asks then why did he screw Goldberg over at Starrcade?
- Piper says “I was given an order for someone upstairs. It was either that, or lose my job.”
- Piper leaves and Gene wonders who game him the order. It wasn’t Bischoff. Was it?

Match #4: Goldberg defeated Bam-Bam Bigelow in 1:33 - Bigelow with a few rights in the corner and sends Goldberg into the corner.
- Bigelow charges, but Goldberg manages to Spear Bigelow.
- Goldberg picks Bigelow up and connects with the Jack Hammer for the win!
- Goldberg yells to the camera and says “Piper, your next!”
(69%)Gene is backstage with the WCW United States Champion Jeff Jarrett.
- Gene asks his thoughts on facing Ric Flair tonight.
- Jarrett says that he doesn’t care. He wants to fight Flair. He wants to prove to all the “slap nuts” in WCW why he is the “Chosen One”.
- “Once I beat that washed up Ric Flair, I’m going to be on my way to becoming the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, the way it should have been since day one.”
- Gene mentions Chris Benoit winning the number one contenders match for his title.
- Jarrett says that “that Canadian Slap nut will get the rest of his two teeth knocked out when we meet, so choke on that.”
- Jarrett shoves Gene and storms to the ring.

Match #5: Ric Flair defeated Jeff Jarrett by Disqualification in 4:22.. - Flair is the second man out and he storms the ring to trade right hands with Jarrett.
- Jarrett manages to gain control with a vertical suplex. Jarrett goes for the figure four, but Flair rolls him up getting a near fall.
- Jarrett with a clothesline. Jarrett sends Flair into the corner and Flair flips and runs the apron to the top turnbuckle but is promptly thrown off.
- Jarrett goes for The Stroke, but Flair manages to block it and deliver a shin breaker. Flair begins to and locks in the figure four.
- Jarrett is in serious pain. Then all of a sudden, SCOTT STEINER enters the ring and viciously attacks Flair to cause the DQ.
- Steiner locks in the Steiner Recliner and Flair has passed out. Steiner eventually lets go and taunts the crowd.
- Jarrett tries to yell at Steiner, but Steiner simply blows right past him and heads to the back.
(82%)Gene is backstage with Booker T.
- Booker would like to thank one man. That man is Eddie Guerrero. He praises Eddie for speaking up when no one, including himself, would.
- Booker now feels he can speak out and he will. He brings up what we just saw. “We just saw some fifty year old sucka doing the same crap over and over again.”
- “Then you got Jeff Jarrett, a man who has left WCW many times, and comes back and is a champion?”
- “Scott Steiner has been a terrible team player going out and talking trash about anyone and anyone, where is the respect for us?”
- Booker wants it to be known that he and many others have Eddie Guerrero’s back and they will soon become recognized.
- “It’s time that WCW focuses on the young good talent, and not the sucka’s who bring this company down.”
- Booker walks out of view and Gene puts over the points Booker has made.

Match #6: Randy Savage defeated Hulk Hogan in 7:41 following interference by Nash. - Savage comes out and continues to rip on Hogan. He calls Hogan out, who eventually makes his way out to a decent reaction.
- Savage attacks Hogan once he enters the right but Hogan fights back with several right hands.
- Hogan sends Savage into the ropes and Savage takes Hogan down with a clothesline.
- Hogan gets to his feet and is scoop slammed down by Savage.
- Eddie Guerrero has made his way down to the ring and is mocking what is going on in the ring. Yawning and dozing off throughout the match.
- Savage leaps off the middle rope and misses a knee drop. Hogan gets to his feet and delivers more right hands.
- Hogan sends Savage into the ropes and delivers a big boot. Hogan comes off the ropes, but Guerrero trips him
- Guerrero is clearly not happy with what kind of main event WCW is putting on here. Guerrero heads to the back embarrassed of such a match.
- Savage is on the top turnbuckle and goes for the double axe handle but Hogan clotheslines Savage in mid air.
- Kevin Nash is now making his way to the ring. Hogan is distracted by Nash.
- Savage gets up and delivers a few axe handle shots to Hogan.
- Pile driver by Savage. Savage quickly goes to the top and connects with the Flying Elbow!
- Savage with the cover, and gets the three for the win!
- After the match, Nash enters the ring and power bombs Hogan twice. Nash and Savage continue to beat down Savage until Sting runs down and makes the save.
- Nash and Savage bail and raise their hands in victory up the aisle way.
(73%)- Tony and Bobby talk about what we just witnessed. Along with what Eddie Guerrero was doing.
- Heenan says he was trying to send a message. Along with everyone in the back. Guerrero must be their leader.
- Tony plugs Thunder.
