See this is bad and great at the same time. True, Flair wasn't there for AJ, so it made sense for RVD to win. Also, he is way over and can easily carry the company, not to mention that it adds to the "tune in, everything can happen" factor. Now, no build up kind of sucks, and I don't know where I heard or read about this, but this proves that Bischoff cares a lot more for ratings than money. RVD vs AJ on a PPV could have sold it just for that match, but instead, he got it on TV, again, with no build up.

WWE has crazy huge exposure and can build stars and they become household names. TNA makes stars only out of those who the fans decide to watch. If that makes sense. So, Rob Van Dam is already a household name and AJ just.. Isnt. They can build their ratings around RVD, Jeff Hardy, Hogan, Angle, things like that and then when people tune in to see RVD, they'll eventually see the younger guns that he's wrestling. Thus, generating interest in the lesser popular wrestler.
I love the move. However, I just wonder if it couldve spanned out for a while and tease the crap out of a RVD Styles match. Or even that Hardy/RVD match. Idk. When TNA gets the ball rolling I think well start seeing better planning.

I think it's great. RVD is incredibly popular and this will probably draw more fans. I don't see why anyone would have a problem with it.

Yeah... TNA is really ruining everything.... They give someone that's HUGELY OVER the title. Who gives a where he came from? He's ing OVER, and will make MONEY. Can we please complain about something that's actually something to bitch about? idk, like Ron Killings getting blown up? We will see about that in the upcoming weeks of Ratings and PPV buys if people other than those same Orlando fans give a about him now in 2010.

Its awesome.. AJ just had a match in a cage the night before, they'll play it off next week for sure. I love it. Great match too. So did RVD. Had two actually.

RVD as champ is a good thing. I like AJ Styles, but RVD seems to be much more fitting as a world champion.

Meh. That sums up my thoughts on TNA as a whole at the moment.

I dont see what the big deal about "home grown" talent is. TNAs home grown talent isnt going to put TNA on the publicity level that they want to be on. Did you see Sting, Lex Luger and Barry Windham taking WCW to be the best wrestling company in the world? No, WCW became #1 after guys like Hogan and Savage got there. WWE develops stars, TNA develops talent. If you want TNA to remain a 1.0 show, non competing with WWE then keep pulling for AJ Styles and Samoa Joe to lead the charge. Im sure like they have for the past 7-8 years they will remain exactly where they are.....in Orlando.

RVD is one of my favorite wrestlers but I wish they would have waited longer.

This is about the only good decision TNA has made as a company in years.

It's not like he was beaten by orlando jordan ... RVD has all the credibility in the world. They can now sell a ppv on the rematch. I really think this was a smart move.

i like rvd, but this was ing stupid. the match had no build, it had been built up for one episode, and if played right, could of headliner something like bound for glory. take hard justice 05 (i think), jeff jarret had been build up and up as a heel champion, and no one could take the belt from him. up steps AJ, and the build and feud was fantastic, with a real feel good moment at the end of it. this has done nothing for styles or rvd. its just the powers that be trying to shock the fans, to gain ratings.

The whole "Let's hotshot PPV quality matches on regular TV unadvertised instead of building them so we can get over 5000 PPV buys" strategy really worked for WCW, didn't it? This was DEFINITELY a mistake. RVD has a little more credibility than Styles, so that's great for the best, but the title change still reeks of desperation to me.

I'm all for this move, AJ was a lame duck champion after Ric Flair came in.
Thank God somebody dethroned the Ric Flair mimmicker!

I think TNA was going pedal to the medal since Raw had Smackdown superstars.... I would have had Jeff Hardy win it however and have RVD go heel and more into his "I'm The whole F'in Show because im a big shot" deal.

I would have had Jeff Hardy win it however and have RVD go heel and more into his "I'm The whole F'in Show because im a big shot" deal. I'm glad RVD won it. However, I thought due to Hardy being with TNA before and not gaining the strap that they would most likely put it on him before Van Dam.
