LOVE the Docus on 89 and Returns.
the Joker/Hamill:Conroy/Batman storyboard and from Jack To Joker are excellent.
I was 9 in 89 and it was a magical time.....I remember getting the toys and it was awesome.recollected all the Toybiz and Dark Knight Collection stuff as an adult.great times........
Nolans films are good no doubt but neither has the magic Batman 89 has for me.... hell even Nolan himself said the event of Batman 89 will never be toppled-its an iconic moment.a true event picture.
Im a huge Joker fan and didnt care too much for Nolans Joker on repeat viewings but Jacks Joker is still awesome.......O Neils muderous clown come to life.

Very interesting stuff Batman Forever is my favorite of the original 4. To be honest I liked them all even Batman & Robin yes it was ing ridiculous but at the end of the movie I still had been entertained. THe special edition 89 batman sounds cool might have to look into getting that. Will be interesting to see what happens when Nolans done with the Batman universe as much as I enjoyed the Dark Knight his realistic approach just really isn't for me. Not to mention he (not intentionally lol) created all these people who despite never having a interest in batman became batman experts. I mean I have a buddy (who's really a great guy) who never had a interest in batman or comics but once he saw the Dark Knight he became a batman expert lol.

So yeah, I'm bringing this thread back from the dead. I like Batman. Whatever. With all the hype of the new Bat-film, plus the recent announcement of the Hot Toys Batman '89 figures, I found myself in an artistic mood, so I started putting together this picture. Check it out - I'm sure fans of the Nicholson/Keaton film will recognize it. I've gotta do the background still, but after that I'll be happy. What do y'all think?

Thanks guys! I worked on it a bit today, and I think I like how it turned out... So in keeping this thread on topic, I think Keaton's Batman may still be my favorite. Bale does a great job, and Nolan's movies are fantastic. But my childhood memories of "Batman" and "Batman Returns" are the seeds from which my love of Batman grew.

Joker, who was thrown into a huge vat of toxic chemicals? Penguin, who was literally raised by an army of penguins? Catwoman, who was thrown out of a high-rise window and raised from the dead by stray cats? And he was LESS Gothic than Nolan in what way?

burton needs to come back with batman, and bring back the best batman "in my opinion" michael keaton. I liked burtons dark, gloomy side of batman he portrayed in his films.

The best Batman has and always will be Michael Keaton. Kevin Conroy is a close second.

I just act like the first 4 don't exist honestly. Can't say I'm a fan. I look at them like I do the old television series/movie starring Adam West.

Considering I have hundreds of memorabilia from all 4 of the first films, I kind of feel the same way. I mean I appreciate certain aspects of them, like Batman Returns Catwoman, Burtons' Gotham, and all of the atmosphere. But when I became a teenager I always wondered why in the hell was Keaton cast as Bruce Wayne in the first place. Especially since Burton worked with Alec Baldwin before who would have been the perfect Batman. Fortunately for me, when I first saw American Psycho I knew Bale would be the perfect Bruce Wayne and Batman if ever cast. Anyways, Batman 5, "Batman Triumphant" would have been interesting but hey, Nolan came along and I couldn't care less about "what could have been". Still, it's interesting food for thought.

I am a Huuuuuuuuge Nolan Batman mark but I am all for another campy Batman movie. I watch and love all of it. If it says Batman, whatever it is I'm in. Figures, animated, comics, TV show....This thread just got me pumped to watch Batman & Robin? (I didn't like that was possible). Bring it on!

I always wondered why in the hell was Keaton cast as Bruce Wayne in the first place. Looking at Keaton back then, he had that look in his eyes. The one where you could tell he was thinking of something or hiding something. At times, almost psychotic. To me, that was perfect in being able to portray a seemingly normal guy who honestly thinks that his only option is to go out at night and kill criminals dressed as a bat. It takes a certain kind of unease and psychosis to do that. Like the TV series, these movies have their place and time. Obviously the TV series was meant to be a complete joke, but looking at it from that angle, it's brilliant. It boils down to what you like about Batman. If you like the zany characters and flashy lights, then watch Adam West or Joel Schumacher's movies. If you prefer dark and stylish, there's Burton's films. And if you want a worldly, serious approach, we've got Nolan's films. Fact is, Batman has been a lot of different things in the comics...dark, campy, violent, witty...the live-action stuff just chooses to pay homage to different sides of the character's long and rich history.

Gotta be honest, Keaton to me is the best Batman, and out of all batman actors, he is the one that portrayed his the best, what I mean is that he was the one that captured what they wanted the best, him in Returns is just amazing, its exactly what was wanted, a very dark Batman

Bruce Wayne was only 27 years old (I believe) when he first became Batman and Bale looks like he's around that age (even though he's really in his 30s). Like I said, Keaton was great, but he would have been better suited to play an older Batman/Bruce Wayne.

Didn't he tho, I mean theres no indication on how long Bruce had been Batman in the first 4, all it implied was that this was the first major battle he'd incountered

But you see, that was the whole point to Burton's Batman, not to be flashy and out there, but instead to be kept in the shadows and only strike when needed
