I'd guess he's in the shiny blue pants he had when he teamed with Carl Malone. Anything from that time period is cool with me. My ideal one would be in his jeans/DDP diamond shirt, with the WCW US title.

i am aware that a figure deal straight w/ the wrestler instead of wwe requires their approval prior to production.. could have been an email of a prototype or less likely the physical prototype. this is fast, as only sum1 like Warrior declines them due to shade of green!!... good job gettin decent news brother
sorry 2 be Mr. negative.. but WE DESERVE to hear from Mattel about Legends..

I hope it's heel DDP with a removable Battle Bowl ring.

any legends news is great news to me! I've always wanted a sweet DDP from his 1996 heel era with cigar

Awesome, thanks for the news. I'd love a DDP figure in the legends line. As some have mentioned, it'd be great for him to come with the WCW US title.

This is great news! We haven't heard a peep from Mattel about any new figs in months...especially Legends figs. Besides that we are getting Bret sometime this year this is about the only piece of Legends news I think we've gotten this year. And it's not even from Mattel themselves.

The overall lack of news is actually making my interest wane. I only collect Mattel products at the minute (WWE & DCUC's) and am/was a big supporter but I'm starting to lose trust in them.

he said the figure is a unique look that hasn't been done before. I'm not sure that there is a decent DDP look that hasn't been covered in figure form. Between WCW Toybiz and Jakks, his career's pretty much covered. They should just go for the most iconic one, which is the period covered by that Smash & Slam WCW figure. Also, this doesn't necessarily mean the Legends line is continuing. Most lines that get cancelled do so with a few figures still in the prototype stages.

They should just go for the most iconic one, which is the period covered by that Smash & Slam WCW figure. actually no, his early career (ie everything before 1997) has NOT ever been covered in figure form. thats 6 whole years in WCW, plus 3 years in AWA. sure he wasn't a main eventer then, but he had a solid push in 1995/1996, was involved in some good storylines, and was really over with the crowd as a heel. his battlebowl ring win and defenses... the rags-to-riches/lottery money storyline... feud with johnny b badd... battle for the diamond doll/booty babe/kimberly... the arm wrestling challenges... and of course the notoriety of his diamond cutter finisher. plenty of classic stuff there. and on a lesser note, his stalker gimmick also was not covered in figure form. however i think we should take DDP's quote with a grain of salt, as we can't be sure how comprehensive DDP's knowledge of his figures is. plus we don't know exactly what context he was speaking, ie he could be speaking about all his figures ever made, or he could just be talking about recent classic/retrospective figures and not including figures made at the actual time. if page has a good knowledge of his figures and does indeed mean the look has NEVER been done in figure form ever, and the figure has a mullet, then the figure must represent a point in his career before his face turn at the start of 1997.

I said "decent look" - those jobber-looking early 90s black tights with the green diamonds were horrendous. Plus they pretty much fall under the "DDP with mullet and black tights" category, which was covered in the pre-Toybiz WCW figures. Official San Francisco Toymakers, I think. He also went back to that sort of look after the jeans, so it has been covered by multiple figures. The Jakks Deluxe Classic, the WCW Bruiser, WCW Bash at the Beach, I think even WCW Smash N Slam repaints.

the toybiz smash and slam figure was made in 1999 and represented his 1998 jeans/t-shirt babyface look, the OSFTM figure was made in 1998 and represented his 1997 black-tights/no-shirt babyface look, same with the CSDA figure. the other toybiz figures just covered his black-jeans/long-hair/no-shirt look from 1999/the triad. the bash at the beach figure was a fictional attire.
so the point still stands that his pre-1997 career has not been represented in figure form. he had several different attire styles, wore many different colours, a few different hair/beard styles, had different tattoos and was a heel (so the Jakks headscans aren't fitting)
"decent look" is a matter of opinion. Page's entire pre-1997 career cannot just be grouped into a single "DDP with mullet and black tights" category, and labelled as "covered" simply because they made a couple of figures with long hair and black tights.
i think i speak for many DDP fans when i say that I do not consider his career suitably covered in modern figure form.
