Hey guys. I met DDP today at a convention and I asked him about his Mattel figure. He said that the figure is complete and looks awesome! He said that his mullet is a bit strange but cool and he said the figure is a unique look that hasn't been done before. So I am guessing that they are not cancelling the Legends line (like speculated) if DDP has a legends figure that is coming out. a unique look? I thought between Toybiz and Jakks they did pretty much everything with him...... doesnt matter to me though Ill still be all over this.

thanks for the update. Can't wait to see the figure, DDP is within my top 3 most wanted Legends figures. I really hope the figure represents DDP as a HEEL though. I hated all his Jakks figures because they all had smiling headscans. People always focus on his "people's champion" days and that awful smiley gimmick he had for a tiny amount of time in WWF. But DDP rose to fame as a heel and was a heel for many parts of his career. Not to mention he was really good at playing a heel and working the crowd. Ideally I want to see Mattel base the DDP figure around mid-late 1996 (ie before he turned face to battle the NWO). But attire aside, the most important thing to me with this figure is the headscan. It's gotta be a straight-faced or heel looking headscan. NOT SMILING! Hell, even when DDP was a face in WCW, he never smiled that much, and generally looked pretty serious and intense. And if we're talking wishlist-fantasy ideals, I'd love a DDP/Kimberly 2-pack too. And as CableV suggested, a WCW US title would be amazing. But yeh, the most important thing is the DDP headscan. PLEASE mattel, give us a HEEL DDP figure! I disagree, he became a star as the peoples champ...I remember his match with Goldberg about blew the roof off.

I watched a lot of his matches last night and I really feel jeans, taped ribs, taped fists, and a removable shirt are definitely the way to go.

No offense to everyone excited, I would buy it as well, but this is the problem with the Legends line. Bret Hart hasn't been confirmed yet, there is no Legends Michaels, Undertaker, or Kane. Andre hasn't even seen a confirmed release time and there is a DDP ready to drop. DDP is on the Pillman list of "after everybody good has been made we can make these". There is no reason DDP should be released before any of the aforementioned main-eventers, or even guys like Earthquake. I agree he has a place in history, but he was a WCW guy, his WWE run was a joke. He really isn't that much of a Legend. If they are going to keep things going, lets go with some main eventers. Then we can have guys like DDP and Doink. Diesel should be named first. A WCW-themed line would be nice, but not for a long while. Simply put, the fact that DDP is ready to go is a bad sign that more of the same is ahead.

He'll be a good seller im sure but mattel should definetly focus on the main 'wwf legends' like hbk , bret, earthquake, taker etc etc until the line is doing better, sprinkling guys like ddp in here and there i prob wont buy ddp but im interested in seeing how mattel pull off his figure, im sure it'll look fantastic but im just hoping he doesnt warm shelves the way his classic jakks figure did.... at double the price im not sure how well it'll do... even if it is double the quality of a jakks fig doesnt mean he'll be out b4 andre or bret tho, look at how long andres figs been ready

I hated his Jeans attire...He looked like a bum not a wrestler. If he's not in an attire like his CSDA figure (any color but Id prefer black/white) then Im not gonna bother with it personally.

Simply put, the fact that DDP is ready to go is a bad sign that more of the same is ahead. to be fair... WCW and it's history is now part of WWE, and therefore should be celebrated alongside WWF/E history. and considering WCW's place in history as the 2nd/1st biggest promotion in america during wrestling's biggest "boom periods" and all it's achievements, WCW stars are just as "deserving" of a place in Mattel's Legends line as any WWF stars of equal star-status, relative to time periods. of course i'm not saying WWE would approve an equal ratio of WCW/WWE stars in a set, far from it. I doubt WWE will ever stop downplaying and disrespecting WCW, and will never celebrate it to the degree it deserves, and the Legends line will always be WWF-heavy. but i'm just saying, in terms of "deserving" to be in the line, WCW stars are equal to WWE stars in my mind. just like the Jakks Classic Superstars line, the Mattel Legends line is a celebration of superstars of the past, and consideration for inclusion should be based on the superstars individual merits and achievements on an inter-promotional, global level. plus obviously collector demand has to be taken into account. i understand if people like one promotion more than another, but personal preference between two promotions of such stature shouldn't bias recognition of individual superstar achievement, and shouldn't bias recognition of the achievements and importance of a promotion either. For example, personally I'm not a Ricky Steamboat fan and didn't want a figure of him. But I can still recognise his achievements and importance, and appreciate that he without-a-doubt deserves a figure. EDIT: sorry that turned into a bit of a rant. i didn't mean it to seem aimed at you Bill Maxwell. i got a bit carried away lol.

300%As for him not been the way to go to get the Legends line off the ground if you have - DDP Bret Hart Andre The Giant Ted Diabease or even Rockers Micheal's Rockers Jennety Bret Hart DDP How are these 2 waves not brilliant and they appeal to different collectors (WWE/WCW, 80's, 90's,). I cant wait but : I hope by DDP saying its unique he doesn't mean its crap!

I am happy about new Legends news, but is DDP necessary this early? Does ANYONE remember how long his CS figure peg-warmed? Lets roll out some "big" name characters to gain a little momentum first.

DDP never even got the world title until the company started going down hill and they wanted to push younger stars (so they put the belt on a 40 year old....go figure). Too many names should be ahead of DDP.
