I hated his Jeans attire...He looked like a bum not a wrestler. I feel the same way, but it is a look that neither Toybiz (well, Smash 'n Slam comes close) or Jakks put out. My second choice is his Jersey Triad look...maybe then they can release a matching Kanyon or Bam Bam somewhere down the line!

I'm hoping it's an early '90s version.

If the first wave of Legends was Stone Cold, Rock, Michaels, Undertaker, Bret and Kane like you guys want then the entire line would be dead after the third wave when they've used up all their A-listers. The need to sprinkle in B-listers like DDP (who is not as obscure as some of you guys are making him out to be), to ensure some longevity in the line. I'm sure whatever wave he's going to be in will have another big name in it to anchor the whole thing (like Andre, Diesel or Bret).
DDP was a major name during the Monday Night Wars, the biggest period in wrestling history, saying he was a nobody is a joke.

Thats what Jakks first wave was.. 6 A Listers..... and they did quite well. I agree they should sprinkle in b names and c names regardless but every series should be anchored by at least 2 "A" names, and hopefully DDP doesnt come out yet while the line is in danger because his jakks figure warmed pegs horribly and i'd hate to see that happen again while the line is on thin ice, hopefully when it does come out it sells well

Think some folks are relying on their memories and bias about DDP's stardom/legendary status.
I'm re-watching my tapes from 98 and the guy headlined consecutive pay-per-view matches against Hollywood Hogan with Karl Malone and Jay Leno as his partners, then ppv main events against Goldberg at Halloween Havoc and Bret Hart at World War 3. Once Sting and Luger joined the Wolfpac, he was the main face for WCW as Goldberg only headlined Halloween Havoc and Starcade as champ.
I'd agree that headlining ppvs during the New Blood era doesn't add much credence to the legends theory, but DDP has to be considered one of the Top 10 WCW legends from the main WCW era [91-99] - Sting, Luger, Flair, Hogan, Savage, Nash, Hall, Goldberg are obvious but he's just as deserving as a Rude, Giant, Booker T, Sid, Steiner Bros. or Vader.
The Jakks CS figure didn't sell because more people wanted the CSDA look and the head sculpt on the CS figure was pretty bad. I'm looking forward to getting this figure and getting a major player in the WCW Monday Night Wars.

I'm pulling for the mullet and jeans from WCW. It's his most iconic look.

As long as he has removable rib-tape. Seems like his ribs were "injured" for most of the late 90s

The Jakks CS figure didn't sell because more people wanted the CSDA look and the head sculpt on the CS figure was pretty bad. I'm looking forward to getting this figure and getting a major player in the WCW Monday Night Wars. again, agreed 100%. WWF downplays and disrespects WCW so much it's not surprising that some people believe their propaganda. plus a lot of people didn't even watch wrestling at the time but think they know everything because they listen to what WWE tells them and watch WWE-produced documentaries and read wikipedia... but for those of us who ACTUALLY WATCHED both promotions during the monday night wars, and are able to remain generally unbiased in our recognition of the achievements of promotions and individuals (keeping our own opinions aside), we can see that DDP was a huge star of WCW, and is without a doubt deserving of a legends figure at a "b-list" level. the only reason he isn't an a-lister was because he wasn't pushed as a main-eventer/world champion for his entire career and didn't have as-long career as many of the a-listers. and regarding the sales of the CS14 DDP, using myself as an example - I'm a huge DDP fan and he was one of my top 5 wants right from the start of CS. BUT i was HUGELY disappointed by the CS14 figure and I therefore didn't buy it. the reason it didn't sell great was because like me, the majority of DDP fans wanted an figure based around 1996/1997/1998 with long hair. also the headscan expression (smiling) was a bad choice, he only had the "smiley" gimmick for a short amount of time in his brief and lacklustre WWF career. for much of his WCW career he was a heel, and even when he was a face in WCW, he never smiled that much. he usually was pretty serious/intense. Plus, the likeness of the headscan wasn't very good (by the way, this is coming from someone who has practiced/studied portrait sculpture/drawing for over 10 years and followed WCW and DDPs career from 1995 to the end) and the CSDA figure wasn't much better really. the attire was a better choice than CS14, and it had long hair, but his "toybiz" look would have had slightly more appeal, and the headscan was STILL smiling and of a poor likeness. there wasn't any accessories included (ie a t-shirt or vest), and individual opinion aside, the fact is RA-style always sold more than DA-style. plus the CSDA figures were exclusive to TRU and therefore less-available. the facts of the matter are DDP WAS a huge name in WCW, he is without a doubt "B-list" level talent for the legends line, totally deserving of a spot, and if the figure is made right - representing the height of his career, with a decent likeness non-smiling headscan and a few good accessories, it WILL sell.

His CSDA did well however.
