I just started thinking, when Cena vs. Rock was announced, the Rock sold that match. The Rock's name is what makes the match, and Cena is the after-thought. Rock is what was great about WWE during their peak, and Cena is WWE's next gen Rock, but he fails at it. It's one of the best ever vs. one of the best now, but Cena still doesn't touch the past.
But now, with Punk's break out, he has become a hot prospect. Hotter than anyone I can remember in at least the last 5 years. Lets say in a dream world Austin interupts a Punk promo and the match is made, CM Punk vs. Steve Austin at WM28. Doesn't that just sound like a bigger money match than Cena vs. Rock?
So what do you think if both matches made the card, what would you have close the show?

If Cena's name is "an afterthought" (which it isn't), then Punk isn't even a thought at all. Cena is bigger than Punk.
Cena-Rock would get more crowd reaction and therefore should go on last.

I would have Austin/Punk close the show, But knowing WWE they'll obviously have Cena/Rock close the show. Both matches are huge but Austin/Punk is just 100X better, Has a better story behind it, Both really want it to happen and both are the best of their generation. Rock/Cena will be the bigger match since its "The Biggest Match Of All Time" but Punk/Austin is the better/greater match. I think it could happen at WM28, It would be my favorite WM match of all time. I would have Austin appear on Raw leading up to WM28 then as Austin is saying his epic catchphrase Cause Stone Cold Said So CM Punks music hits and they have a long promo and in the end Punk challenges Austin and Austin accepts.
I wouldn't say Rock completely makes the match look big, Cena is not an after thought he also makes the match big, Both will be at their best on the mic leading up to the match and the match will turn out great, Cena's been getting better in the ring and Rock has proved he can work great matches so the match should be a classic. I wouldn't mind Cena or Rock winning, Basically everyone thinks Cena will win because of this whole past the torch thing well that excuse is lame, Cena is already a HUGE star just like Rock/Austin were by the time Hogan returned in 02 so Cena doesn't need the win unlike Punk who still isn't that big but that BIG win over Austin will elevate Punk to the top, With WWE and Cena saying this match will be for the WWE Title i would have Rock win to shock everyone and give Rock his 10th World Title and give Rock one more WWE Title run from the Great One and have him somehow keep the Title until SummerSlam where Cena wins it back, OR have Cena win at WM and have Rock go over Cena in a non Title match at SS.
Austin/Punk>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Rock/Cena.

Neither, I'd rather the end it with a showcase main event of two/three stars that could connect for the first time with a big audience to bring them back again. I don't want the whole build up during the event be for these matches. They need to push newer talent over the old megastars returns. I do however wish there was a great sense of theme throughout the event of old vs new with more than Austin and Rock being involved, mix that with one/two matches that isn't in that theme, they stand out. It would look like it is trying to hard to get you're money with two random to the outside public clashes and a Taker match on top without a theme.
A 30 minute match between Orton or Cody and D-Bryan is my order OR a triple threat between the three. All three are capable of engrossing dramatic matches. That should go on last.

The Rock vs Cena match.
Not to say the other one would be bad, but I doubt Austin go. In an ideal world I would have Rock vs Punk or Austin.
...but thats not happening.

I definitely would love to see Austin vs Punk happen, but with this particular Mania happening in Miami, it would only make since to close with Cena vs the home town hero.

Cens vs Rock easily. Even as popular as Punk is right now, he is still a step below Cena, Austin, and Rocky on the "superstar" scale, whether people want to admit it or not.

I don't think the Austin/Punk match would be any good at all. Maybe 10 years ago, but Austin is getting old. I'm not quite sure he could compete in a full match without it having botches.

I voted for Austin vs. Punk. Almost entirely because of CM Punk...

Personally, I'd be far more excited for Punk/Austin, but from a business standpoint, clearly the choice is Rock/Cena.

Guys I know Punk has been really popular lately and I would LOVE to see a Austin/Punk match.
However...
They have been building Rock/Cena since before WM last year. There really is no choice.

The Rock vs. John Cena. That match has more star power in because both names are huge. But with Stone Cold vs. CM Punk you only have one big name so it's not as exciting.

Punk/Austin are relatively unknown outside of the wrestling industry. You sir, are wrong.

I don't think the Austin/Punk match would be any good at all. Maybe 10 years ago, but Austin is getting old. I'm not quite sure he could compete in a full match without it having botches. Case in point: Ricky Steamboat. The man hadn't wrestled in nearly 15 years and he came back and hadn't missed a step.
