Do you agree?
I do to an extent.
Jericho says a match is good match unless its at Wrestlemania and then it become a great match
I think Sting's never done it on the biggest stage of them all
He claims its for his religious/personal reasons citing WWE's risky programming as his reason for staying away
TNA is currently a lot more risque than WWE
I think he's just scared that he wont live up to his reputation and will bomb like Goldberg
I also think his time has passed the dream match for me was him vs HBK, I know everyone says Undertaker but I thought him and Shawn could have tore the house down at Mania. Plus I don't think Sting could come in and lose his first match and the likely Mania match with him and Undertaker should only have one winner and that is the Undertaker
Anywho what are your views?

I can't even picture Sting on WWE's programming today.

I don't know about now.

I wanted Sting to be the vignettes from last year, that didn't happen. If it didn't happen then why would it happen now? I think it's best that he just becomes a guy who made it in professional wrestling without being in the WWE.

Where did Animal say this?
Sting is going to go down as one of the greats, and never even stepped foot in a WWF/E ring. So why should he do it NOW in the twilight of his career?

I hope Sting does not go to WWE really. All they would want him to do is lose at Wrestlemania, make a figure of him, make a DVD, and then they would be done with him.

No, that interview just sounded like Animal sucking up to the WWE. Let Sting do what he wants. Maybe he just doesn't want to deal with Vince? I can respect that.

Golberg's run wasn't legendary, but I wouldn't say he bombed considering he won the world championship, beat the Rock and got a win against Lesnar at mania.

I love Sting and have since the late 80's so I mean this with all due respect. It just seems to me he's always been content with being second best.
He was on the cusp of being thee top guy in the late 80's early 90's. And then during the biggest boom in wrestling history, he revamps his character for months to become one of the biggest storylines ever. But then when he was able to return to the ring he never commanded the spotlight from guys like Hogan, Savage, Hart, DDP, Goldberg or The Outsiders. He became just another guy on the roster. And maybe that hurt his confidence? Had he joined WWE he could have had one great run. But to me it seems he always made up excuses why not to join the WWE and most of the time they sound like he's trying to convince himself more than us. His own insecurities got in his way. It's as shame too cause I think he would have had a longer lasting legacy if he had.

I remember seeing an interview with Sting where he said he didn't go to WWE because of Booker T's debut. He said he hated how the Rock asked Booker "Who in the blue hell are you?" Sting said he was in talks with WWE at the time and that broke the deal.
I also remember a Flair interview where he said that he always tells Sting that the biggest mistake he even made was not going to WWE.
I kind of agree with Animal. WWE is the world's biggest company around and it's like you could be awesome but the audience you reach is smaller. That being said, with WWE now owning WCW, current WWE fans are still exposed to Sting's work. So I guess he still is an icon.
If WCW was still alive and as strong as it was in the mid90s it would be closer to a no brainer.

His legacy is built around being the biggest name to never work for Vince and a failed WWE run would tarnish that.

He hasn't made any of the mistakes that say Hogan or Flair have to financially need to go back to the wwe, he's set and happy where he is.

yes the comments about booker t are correct, i also saw the interview online, long ago. And then other of his wcw peers ended up not getting very far in wwe like ddp, steiner and goldberg ( i liked his run but i can see why sting feels it's a failure) and that probably made up his mind forever.
i think all that needs to happen is for vince to induct him into the hall of fame someday. they put other people in that have doon little to none in wwe itself so i don't see why it can't happen when he's not under tna contract anymore.
being a wwe hall of famer would arguably put him a step higher on the reckognision ladder, and if it was followed up by a classy dvd or blu ray release covering his glory years, i'm sure it would sell well and he could still have his dignity intact.
i don't think accepting an HOF invitation would ruin his anti-wwe stance or does it ? at least i wouldn't look at that way...he would still never have performed in a wwe ring and would still be a non-wwe legend so i don't see the issue....it could only help sting's legacy imo, to be inducted and put in the spotlight by wwe. i think flair should induct him then, as they have a load of history togheter.

IMO Sting is more of an Icon than any WWE employee right now.

all I want him to do is sign a merchandise deal to be honest.an in ring run doesnt interest me
its the only way we will get a proper DVD of his career which I badly want with a full docu.
hopefully it would cover how WCVW totally blew his return in 97 and booked him into Oblivion in 98.I would be real interested to hear about that.

He should have at least one stint in the WWE before he finally retires.

This protecting his legacy talk makes me chuckle. Sting is protecting his earning power. He is happy making fulltime money working part time. Even when he is done in the ring he will have a role in TNA for being loyal, that won't happen in the WWE, which is why he is staying in TNA.
The only reason Sting did not go to WWE after they purchased WCW was because he was still being paid to stay home, then he went on tontour with WWA and made great money working part time like he likes it, then eventually TNA. Kudos to Stinger for making a killing without WWE.

His legacy would be ruined. Would be? Someone doesn't watch TNA. As far as i see it Sting more then likely will go down as the best to never step foot in a WWE ring, However he'd be lucky to make the top 15/20 of all-time.

Obviously I'm biased lol but one of the main points that makes sting an icon IMO Is the fact he didn't and hopefully won't go to wwe
As for stings qualifications so to speak, there isn't anybody that can go as well as he can after 20+ years in the business. For his age and the inclusion of sting being able to reinvent himself and his character has helped greatly
Sting was a very big draw against the nwo in the 90s and sometimes that gets clouded by hogan, hall and Nash and that fateful night at batb 1996
Just my opinion of course but as I'm a big fan I have a huge amount of respect for sting not going to wwe
