Anywho, David Robertson is incredible with getting out of jams. Today could have been much more disastrous.

That's the thing though, just because he's a fan, that doesn't mean he can't be a realist. Every season I want the Pirates to win the World Series, but knowing their talent level, every season I know to not expect much more that a 70 win season and maybe a bright spot of a 12-15 game winning pitcher and a 30 HR guy, like last season. Hes not a fan. Hes debby downer, about EVERYTHING. Whines aboiut the Phillies and then randomly drops his Royals fandom on us whenever he wants to. Its a cry for attention, I mean why does he hate Carlos Ruiz? Things change, constantly bitching about stuff that happened TWENTY YEARS ago is embarrassing. Royals will not suck this year, but because they sucked in 1999 means Hulk can constantly bring it up. Ive been trying to turn him into a Royals fan for a while. Slowly but surely, i will get it done.

Slowly but surely, i will get it done. Define not suck. I've watched the Royals since I was a kid as they're the local team. They were pretty good until I was 10-12 years old. After the mid-90s they sucked pretty much every year. Since '94, they've only finished over .500 once and it seems like I've watched them rebuild half a dozen times. Let's not forget that they lost 90 or more games like 8 out of the last 10 years and lost 100 or more 4 times in that time period. They've just sucked in recent years. I hate to say it, but they have. And they haven't shown a whole lot of signs of improvement. Yeah, there's been flashes of brilliance by various players like Greinke, Sweeney and even Bob Hamelin back in the day. But they never seem to put the whole package together no matter what they do. One year they have very good pitching, but the offense isn't there. Or they have a good offense, but the pitching never shows up. Heck, I grew up seeing Damon, Dye and Beltran share the same outfield with Sweeney anchoring the lineup. That was a great lineup. But the team went no where. My attitude with the Royals is that I want to believe. But until they actually do start winning I won't believe it.

Also, Ralpho, you claimed the Royals would be good last year too. Then they lost 90 games. You claim the Royals will be good or decent every single year. I've heard it all before.

For what its worth Sports Illustrated has them finishing 2nd in the AL Central this year and a year ago predicted they will be World Series contenders in 2015.

LOL at Joe Girardi intentionally walking the bases loaded in the first inning of first game of the season. He's already working real hard tying to over manage and outsmart himself. As soon as that happened I said Carlos Pena was hitting a grand slam.
As for the rest of the game,....it was what it was. CC was really crappy, as he is every April, the Yankee relievers did a fantastic job, and Rivera just blew it. But I'll hand the ball to him with a 1 run lead anytime. He just didn't have it today.
The real key to the game was that the Yankees offense missed a lot of huge opportunities to tack on runs. How many times did they have bases loaded or first and third with less than 2 outs and get NOTHING. You can't throw away that many opportunities to score because you're just keeping the other team in it.
But the game did have one really good silver lining. I used to worry about what would happen to the Yankees after Mariano River retires. I'm not worried anymore. David Robertson is the future closer of the Yankees, no doubt about it. He has ice water in his veins. The Yankees will be just fine.
Rivera probably won't give up another run until June now, he'll have a week where he'll blow 2 games and everyone will bitch and then he'll be fine the rest of the season.
This loss today was on 3 things. 1. Girardi with the intentional walk. I'd rather face Sean Rodriguez 100 times out of 100 times. 2. CC Sabathia sucked. 3. Yankee offense leaving too many runners on base, but I guess also props to the Rays bullpen.
It's 1 of 162. Yeah, once we got this game to the 9th with the lead and Mo in, I very badly wanted to win this one....but it's not going to make or break my season. In 1998 the Yankees lost the first 4 games of the season and then went on to win 114 games, so I'm not going to spend too much time worrying about this loss.

Ralpho, as ridiculous as Hulk can be you're in no position to call anyone else a downer. How the am I a downer? How often do you hear me cry about the Sox and what happened? By all means, go through my posts and hear me whine about what happened? YOU WILL NOT. Red Sox constantly win, they have won 2 World Series in my life time and they have the best offense in baseball last year...I am pretty sure I will be ok regardless if they miss the playoffs or lose in the World Series. I will NEVER EVER bring up the "Woe is me" attitude like Hulk does even though HIS TEAM HAS WON A WORLD SERIES. Please reference what where I am a "downer"

What a start to the season for the Rays today. Baseball's back, and I couldn't be happier.
Feel free to talk crap about how our attendance figures make us the WORST TEAM EVAR!!!!!1111, like ESPN and the media in general do.

Hey, I'm a Jays fan. With the added wild card, this is the first year since like 1995 that I can be excited about my team... lol

Feel free to talk crap about how our attendance figures make us the WORST TEAM EVAR!!!!!1111, like ESPN and the media in general do. Rays fans are kinda band wagoners, like the place is empty the entire year and then in the Playoffs people finally start showing up.....but as far as I'm concerned, the Rays team themselves is a great team and that organization has proved that you can play winning ball without spending. The Red Sox currently have ALMOST more payroll on the DL than the Rays are spending on their entire team. Today the Rays broke a 6 year string of consecutive games started by a pitcher under the age of 30. They are young, fast, play great defense, and Joe Maddon is seriously a genius with some of his defensive alignments and hit and run/suicide squeeze plays he puts on. As far as I'm concerned......I have no idea why people don't go to more Rays games. That's an exciting team they've got down there in Tampa and if I was the Rays I would be pissed that they get no fan support all season and then all the Johnny Come Lately's show up at Postseason time and act like the biggest fans ever when they didn't ride the ups and downs of the season with their team all year. In the Playoffs, a team like the Rays has a much better chance at going all the way to the World Series and winning it than teams like the Yankees and Red Sox, as much as it pains me to say that as a Yankee fan. My team has proved time and time again that you can slug your way to the Playoffs with mediocre pitching and a powerful offense, but more times than not when you get to the Playoffs those powerful offenses disappear and it's the teams with young power arms that win the Championship. Look at the Giants in 2010....won the World Series with statistically the WORST offense that has ever touched the field in World Series history.....that's the type of potential I see with the Rays, and with Longoria and now if Pena is gonna come back to life, they have some pop in the offense too, which makes them even more dangerous.

The bandwagon down here is pretty annoying lol...its a shame to see the attendance as bad as it is, but honestly I don't believe its from a lack of fan support. This city has been riding the bandwagon since 08 and it doesn't let up. It comes down to the stadium that the Rays are in and the location. With traffic, it takes 3+ hours to get to the Trop and once you get there the stadium itself sucks. If we got a new stadium, in Channelside for example (which is where a lot of people have been pushing), attendance would go up. Now I'm not saying we would sell out every single game but you would see better turnouts consistently. Its too bad that the St. Pete mayor is a douche but hopefully we get out of that UFO soon. It was nice seeing a full house out there today that was mostly Rays fans though, maybe this will be a better year for the attendance.
In other news, Bruce Chen for Cy Young.

Agreed. The Rays are good and the organization is impressive. The fans are pathetic. Support your team!!!!

Wait, when did the Phillies lose 100 games? Those NL Titles nad that 1 World Series title must really be making your math off
