Maybe I'm losing my ability to understand wrestling...maybe I'm getting old and jaded...but I'm not getting the hype behind and for RR.
I don't find him to be terrible, but I don't find him all that amazing either. I feel like his "rise" to greatness is VERY manufactured, which, granted, isn't new in pro-wrestling, but also hasn't really ever produced long term payoff.
Does he have a good look...yeah, I spose. His move-set seems a bit limited to this point, and the charisma and mic skills, they're not quite there. I can't put my finger on it really...he just come across...to me...like a guy trying to BE John Wayne, not John Wayne himself...you know? There's a big difference there.
It's just kinda taken me a little by surprise to be honest. I personally have found the other two Shield members to be MUCH more interesting and entertaining over their time on the main roster, and certainly since the break-up of the team. Rollins is a really talented, exciting performer to watch, and Ambrose is definitely a great talker and has that "intangible" quality that is just fun to see. I was really confused when they started pitching the idea that Roman was the "Alpha Male" of the Shield, and the ring leader. I just kinda always assumed Ambrose was "the boss" to be honest. RR, to me, was more like the Enforcer of the group, and always seemed the most nervous and least natural.
But then again, maybe I just don't get it. I have always been a bigger fan of the guys who were never quite "The Guy" anyways (guys like Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Daniel Brian, Randy Savage, Triple H, Curt Henning, CM Punk, Rick Rude, Jake Roberts...the list goes on...)
My two cents...for what it's worth.

This is getting old fast. Just like the Cena hate threads. I realise you didn't bash Reigns at all but these threads all turn into Reigns-fans vs. Reigns-haters which is never a productive discussion.
I personally think he's good. Could be great with time.
I think he's excellent on the mic. Despite what many have to say he is better than Seth in that regard. Not even close to Ambrose however.
In the ring he's not as good as either but he's finding his niche and his matches are entertaining which is more than I can say for a lot of the roster.
A lot of people need to realize he's only 3 maybe 4 years into wrestling. Nobody becomes a great wrestler that fast. In all honesty the only guys I can think of that went to the top in their first 5 years are Rock, Cena and Batista. And he reminds me a lot of those three. Capable to above average wrestlers who are often times not given the credit and respect they deserved and have put on some of the great matches of the past 15 years. I can see Reigns 5 years from now being in that same group AND being a better wrestler then all 3.
To make things simpler people need to give him a chance. He's just now finding himself and with time he will be great. He might not be the next Bryan, HBK, Hart, Benoit, Guererro, etc but he certainly will be a bigger draw then all of them (Sans Bryan and Hart) and he's easily the next Cena. Which does not bother me one bit. My biggest issue with him has always been booking, hopefully they don't make the same mistakes with Roman.

The live crowds are believing in it. They were chanting "this is awesome" during his stare down with Triple H and they were YESing for him.

I'm not a big fan of Roman Reigns. It's not that I don't see why others like him, I've just never been a big fan or into his singles matches. He'll be a main stay in WWE for a while it's obvious to see but I've never been into him a whole lot. He doesn't have the charisma that I feel Dean Ambrose has and I don't think he's at the same level as Seth Rollins in the ring. He's not bad but I'm just not a fan.

Roman just has the "it" factor, It's kind of hard to explain but I can see it when I watch him.

While I am a bigger fan of Ambrose and Rollins, I have no doubt Reigns will be a star. He has the look and the talent. I do not mean he is ready to be the guy NOW, but he has a very bright future. His mic skills are not bad and he can put on a good match with crowd pleasing offense. What I think speaks most about his ability and why he is the new "chosen one" is how quickly he grew as a performer between his main roster debut and now. He was obviously very green to start, but he looks like he belongs now. If he keeps growing on the mic and in the ring as he has the past two years, he could be the next face of the WWE.

I just hate the fact that as soon as someone gets remotely hot they want him as World Champion straight away. Just let him grow. He only broke away from the Shield a matter of weeks ago, he needs to find his own feet as a Singles Competitor, develop his own identity more. He has the charisma and the look that's for sure, but he's way off on other attributes.

Meh, I would say I like him. Despite he being my 3rd favourite shield member.

Perhaps you'll get lucky then and WWE will lose interest in him and just do lame Orton vs Cena matches until the end of time instead of pushing anyone new to the top.

Im just happy that there is a group of new stars on the horizon. Its like watching 1997 and 2002 all over again.

I'll never get why he just suddenly became the Shields leader too...
I am not denying he has this "it" thing but still, I find Ambrose and Rollins far better than him in every regard. Roman hasn't impressed me once.

Roman hasn't impressed me once. That's the one thing that bothers me about the Shield. The first 6 months I thought it was pretty clear that Dean was the leader. Then for the next 6 months or so they didn't have a clean cut leader, then from November to January it was certainly Roman. Then all of the sudden Rollins and the architect nickname are being pushed with the false breakup and what not. Then it was back to Roman being the leader. They never stated any of them were the leader but it was certainly implicated at points in time that one of the three was the "leader". Then again maybe thats not such a bad thing.

He's good and he'll only get better. I want to say that next year's Wrestlemania is too soon for him to win the title, but then again Brock was there a little over a year and won it and Cena had been in the company for about the same amount of time as Reigns will have been by then. But there's no doubt AT ALL that the crowd will absolutely explode when he comes out and gets face to face with Lesnar the first time, if Lesnar is the champ at that time.

He gets good pops. He gets the crowd fired up. He's got the WWE look. He'll be fine. Just because he doesn't chain wrestle for 90 minutes doesn't mean he doesn't have the potential to be great. I think everybody just needs to relax
