I plan on getting it when it becomes available in Ireland(I presume the same time as the UK) But I'm wondering what the deal with Sky is? Surely they aren't too pleased with this? Whatever the situation is, Sky are fine with it. The reason it launches in October (rather than the August rollout for most territories) is that's when the new contract with Sky comes into effect, so the network is running according to whatever deal they have with Sky... Maybe it'll be a Sky channel, maybe it won't have the programmes that Sky shows, etc. Either way, it's not just something that WWE is throwing out there without consulting Sky.

The problem isn't so much getting people to sign up... They've had more than 820,000 sign up... The problem is that 128,000 people have unsubscribed within the first six month period when there's supposed to be a six month commitment. The new payment plans are to make sure people either pay for six months, or pay more per month if they don't want all six. I don't understand. People were able to cancel their subscriptions before the first six months were up? I thought they were automatically locked into those six months when they registered? Anyone could just cancel the Paypal payments anytime, and probably the same for credit/debit card subscriptions too, but you'd have to call the bank. And 128,000 people did just that since WrestleMania.

I certainly wont be throwing my money at it. If your in the UK not only are you charged for watching their weekly shows (because you gotta pay big money to get sky sports each month) now your also being asked to commit $60. Aye dead on. Im a cheap skate and watch where my money goes, these damn elites are expensive never mind sky sports to watch raw etc and then more money to watch the network.
They aint getting my money so easily. Take a hike Vince.

If I remember correctly, wasn't the number 1 million considered the even line? My question is, was that only in the United States or is that worldwide? I think they will be just fine once they expand into the rest of the world. It's a new product. You've got to walk before you can run. Share holders can calm down.

They were expecting a million domestic by the end of this year. 2.5 million by end of 2015, including international. That won't happen. But the break even point now has been made smaller -- they've gotten more realistic about the network's limitations, and are making a bunch of layoffs this year and next. Probably 50-100 or so people losing their jobs to lessen the financial blow the network is dealing to the company.

Honestly, I don't know how they weren't prepared ahead of time for people who would potentially do that. If they weren't going to basically be debt collectors and call up subscribers, they should've, at the very least, put a hold on all the accounts who bowed out early from their subscriptions that would prevent them from purchasing anything from the company in the future until they pay off their balance first.

Hasn't hit internationally yet, so of course it isn't a huge number.

I didn't suggest anywhere that it was something WWE was doing behind Sky's back. I was suggesting that if it was the same as the US model surely Sky wouldn't be pleased with it because of Sky Box office PPV etc. The more I think about it I think it may have a lot of differences here because of Sky.

I wonder how crud the UK network content selection is going to be compared to the US?

Does Sky play older WWE content, like older Raws and PPVs and stuff along those lines, or you just subscribe to Sky and you get the current WWE product? The current PPVs are on that channel too for you guys right?

The current PPVs are on that channel too for you guys right? Sky Sports shows Raw, Smackdown, NXT, Main Event, Superstars, Bottom Line, This Week in WWE, From The Vault, Vintage, Afterburn, and Experience. From The Vault is usually a random TV match from any year. Vintage is an hour of around 4 old matches, all sharing a similar theme (like King of the Ring matches, or high flyers, or one week Curtis Axel was co-host and it was all Mr Perfect matches). The PPVs are mostly all on PPV (Sky Box Office), but Sky Sports shows four a year. That changes for the 2015 season though, from October they'll all be PPV. Sky will surely have a hand in the UK version of the WWE Network, because NXT etc are exclusive to Sky here. Losing all that WWE content exclusivity would hurt Sky Sports subscriptions, so presumably Sky are either getting a cut or they're involved in it. Or we could end up with a network that's basically just the archive and the current PPVs, without NXT, Main Event etc. I guess it's possible that we have a network that has Raw and Smackdown on it as well, but it'd be much more expensive I think.

Seems like a lot of overlap there and it makes sense why they would be getting together to figure it all out. Sky is in the unique position of providing both the weekly shows and providing the PPVs. So it's different than the situation with the USA Network, where they go virtually unaffected by the WWE Network. That's kind of an unfortunate conflict for UK viewers.
