Can say I'm a fan of Cruz either, what with his leading the government shutdown costing the economy billions, being an opponent of marriage equality and a denier of science. That last one is becoming a deal breaker for me. It's something that I really wrestled with when it came to supporting Ron Paul, but in the end reality should not be a personal choice, especially when it comes to public office (and chairing a science committee). But more importantly, there's no way Ted Cruz can sell himself as a moderate in the general election. Ron Paul supported the government shut down and personally opposes marriage equality. Oh yeah, I'm fully aware. As did Rand. I still scratch my head about it.

Fox News is to blame for that. If a republican is elected president in 2016 I'm leaving this country. and that's that. If I had a nickel for every time I heard someone say that, or a republican say that about a democrat and then not do it I could pay off my house. I hate hyperbole like that. You won't do it. Just like none of them did. I don't care what you think. I'm dead serious!

Ron Paul supported the government shut down and personally opposes marriage equality. Ron also said that the Gov't should get out of marriage all together Federal government anyway. But he his personal beliefs are that he's against gay marriage. Texas voters approved a gay marriage ban. I wonder how he voted on that.

It would have been a private vote since it was a issue for Texas voters rather than a Congressional vote. I don't think he ever said anything about how he voted though.

Interesting read. That law just seems to be doing far far more harm than good.

Very interesting, maybe this will help that party see the bigger picture and wake up and start focusing on fixing real problems.

I used to be a Republican, but the party left me and rational minded people willing to compromise behind it seems. By catering to the ultra religious and far right, they have alienated me and many others. It's nice to hear it from Arnold too.

Nick the Quick you should probably rename this the official US President 2016 thread or something. Rand Paul is running for President. Let the Libertarian Parade begin~! **dies a little on the inside**

It is absolutely beyond me how anybody can trust either side at this point. How much could a friend lie to you in your real life before you dismissed them? How many years do you continue to listen? America has become the abused girlfriend who always goes back to her ex because "he's changed" and "he really loves me" and "promises to be better".
Both sides represent the same ends.
It's all a work my friends.

Still not super interested in any of the candidates with their name in the hat. As of right now Rand Paul is my pick for the republican nomination. Ted Cruz isn't going to beat anyone like him.

Still, the Republicans are going to need a strongly opened-minded and rationally in touch with present day America candidate to have any chance in 2016.

The mainstream American political system is always based out of the center, but as a left-winger I hope we're willing to stay with the same party in Washington for twelve-sixteen years. I DO NOT want a Republican President. Again, Democrats still embrace the capitalist economic system, but at least they're a little closer to what's desired. In a world where the wealthiest 85 people have as much as the 3.5 billion poorest, a right-winger is not what the country needs.

I am REALLY far-left and I don't see anyone on the Democratic side that I want anywhere near the White House and I don't see anyone on the Republican side that doesn't scare the crap out of me.

It's sad knowing how swayed the people in this country are by the internet these days.
right wing extremists try to frighten voters into voting for them, while left wing try to bribe the voters with crazy hopes.
This race is going to be pathetic and there's really no one that will run, that should run.
