Did you post pics of the box during the auction or claim it was in mint condition? Also how did you pack it? I'm more forgiving if I saw pictures of minor damage or told upfront there are problems.

I only posted one picture of the front of the box and it was a pic of when i first got it. it was new in box but did not claim it to be MOC or anything

This is why I don't sell online. The buyer has ALL the power. He or she is clearly trying to shake you down. I would accept the return.

If you never claimed it was in mint pristine condition, I'd tell him tough t*tties. And if he was that worried about the packaging, he should have asked you before bidding.
But for future listings, just say the packaging has "shelf wear". That way, you're covered.

I would return it just so he doesn't complain. However, some buyers like to make the biggest fuss about the smallest thing. I had one dude tell me that he never got his figure, open a case without me even getting back to him and then I noticed I made a mistake with the tracking number. Funny thing is when I corrected the tracking it said it was delivered about two days ago and the dude dropped the case saying that he could track it or whatever the minute I had evidence. Anyways, on another sometimes it sucks when you do see a figure that looks like it's good condition only to get a beat up played with toy. I almost always ask questions. My recommendation to you my friend is to list all the qualities of what you're selling so the buyer knows the beforehand and then can't complain if they want to fuss. I learned this myself, any little blemish etc, I list in my auctions.

What photo did you upload for the original listing? Did you sell through eBay?

Let them make the call. That way you're clear regardless.

If he does not want tell him to send it back. The figure is easily worth the price he paid. So keep it or try to resell it. I know it was a pain in the arse to find that figure and I only found it cause my Kmart got a case. Then 3 months later that Kmart store closed.

What a pain. People are too picky. It’s a 20$ toy. What do you really need it on a mint card for? Unless you’re going to get it signed and even then. People just like to complain.

I'd suggest checking out some other toy forums to see how a certain site handles situations like this. The item is as described with no significant damage or wear. Claims tend to treated very buyer-friendly, but I'm usually selling sports cards where damage is a little more cut and dry.
I think a claim would rule in your favor, but again I don't sell figures so I'm not sure if they consider the packaging as part of the product or not. Some buyers will try to shake down sellers in hopes of getting you to refund part of the purchase price. Sounds like the buyer is being way too nitpicky, but action figure collectors are known to be wound a little to tight. Either way, good luck.

Thanks for your advice everyone!
I took Marinos advice and contacted ebay about the seller. Hopefully this all blows over. I really rather not go through the trouble of having to return the figure

F that guy. He wouldn’t get a refund from me. If it was through eBay and PayPal, you wouldn’t have a choice. Even if you list your auctions as “no returns”, the 100% money back guarantee protects the buyer.

If you sold it through eBay, you're most likely going to eat the return if he files an INAD.
In the future, it is definitely in your best interest to put up multiple pictures of the box and a detailed description.

I wouldn't accept the return myself. If u didn't say the box was MIMB [mint in mint box] I don't see what the problem is. If he cared that much he should've asked u if it had any damage prior to purchasing. Even if u put MOC in the listing u would still be ok. MOC means mint on card. The toy being mint not the card. People think MOC has something to do with the package being mint for some reason.
