I agree. Mattel is limited to the WWE Legends deal and we've reached a plateau in variety because of it. We're likely never getting K-Dogg to finish our Wolfpac. We may never even get Hollywood Hogan from Mattel. My biggest 3 wants are Scott Steiner, Raven and Owen Hart. I don't expect to ever get any of those three. So I'm just bored with the line. I actually thought about selling off most of my stuff again over the last month to free up space. I collect quite a bit of other stuff and my passion for the WWE line is just on the decline.
Like why are we still waiting on stuff like WCW Goldberg or Retro Diesel? Why are Jinder fans being forced to pay $100 for his updated figure? Why does AE Chris Jericho have inaccurate knee pads over his tights and we've never even had an Elite HBK with heart knee pads over his tights? So yeah... I'm just running out of energy with the WWE line. I can put that money into lines that don't force me to settle every time I see something I might want.

Mattel just doesn't have the money they use to so that is always going to make it more difficult

Sadly they also wont have the outlet with tru going under its gonna make it harder.
Plus they don't capitalize on hot items. Like braun was on fire same with others but when they do release people they have already cooled.
If jinder had come out last fall he would have been wanted now he's an after thought and he still wont.be out til this fall a year after his fall from main eventer.
Hiedo Itami, Almas, Ohno have been in the company yet 2 have only had basics and 1 not even in the makings.

I feel the same way about a lot of the things you’ve listed. Thoughts of selling, tired of “settling”, waiting and waiting and waiting for new sought after characters. Then waiting longer because they want to “strategically” place them. Inaccurate choices, weird decisions, the list goes on and on. Ron Simmons is one of the figs I’ve always wanted to Mattel to make, but when we see the product there’s tons of let downs.

I think, unfortunately, Mattel is changing it's strategy. In the past, it was let's see how many characters we can get out to the customers to make them happy. They would almost flood the market with so many different variations of that character from either different time periods or in different attires, and now I fear that the more demanded or obscure characters are going to be hidden behind paywalls.
If you think Mattel's first Ronda Rousey figure is going to be a 9.99 Basic or 19.99 Elite, I'm afraid I've got some bad news. It's for sure going to be packaged with a WrestleMania Main Event ring for $100 and IF a single gets released, it'll be years down the line.
Still no Goldbergs planned other than what's with the ring. Still no Jinder's planned other than what's with the ring.
This is going to be a trend. Those high demand figures and obscure characters are going to come with rings and playsets that drive the price point sky high.

I wouldn't care about the price as much as the wait time i use to collect basic but the last 9 sets have just been repaints
Nxt got a few new faces
Hall of champion 2 packs were just reused basics with a shiny belt.
Epics looked awesome as this could be a 1 shot deal to get a first tine guy but no its just same guts now in street gear.

wait times, and reuse of characters is killing them. I was just thinking how odd it is we are even getting a street clothes Razor. i have no use for it, although i like the figure. Its just an odd choice considering i could use another wrestling gear Razor with the long kneepads. smh.

I disagree myself. I think overall Mattel is releasing the best wrestling figures weve ever had. There are always gonna be people wanting certain wrestlers or attires and being annoyed at those certain figures not happening but that is inevitable. You cant please everyone but we get some pretty amazing variety overall. They made figures of the friggin Shark, Yankem and convention sign bearing Virgil. That is pretty crazy if you think about it, those are some deep cuts. There are some rough moves they make (goldberg and jinder being w expensive rings) but theyre still a business trying to maximize profits and I cant really argue w the logic, even if it does tick some people off. We have some amazing flashback oriented exclusive series as well from Target, Walmart, Gamestop etc. honestly, my only real complaint is I wish the exclusive store series were distributed better. Anyway, I love the way the line is going as a whole. I have so many impressive Mattel figures in my Collection and there are some upcoming Im super excited about so Im still fully enjoying collecting, and Ive been collecting since late 96.

Where's Goldberg? I get the ring was the only way to get him in 2017. It is 4 months into 2018 now and still no Goldberg? Weird.

I've been growing bored of WWE figures the last few months. The continued repetitiveness of releasing the same guys over and over and choosing such plain boring attires on most figures has really killed it for me. There's lots of stuff I would buy that Mattel could easily make but they just seem to have no interest in doing so. Where is WCW Goldberg? WCW Jericho? Team Xtreme Hardyz? neon surfer Sting? elite Warrior in neon green?
All my money has been going to Marvel Legends and will continue to do so unless things change.

Personally I only collect 1 figure of each character (I’ll sometimes get 1 figure for each gimmick a character has though). I never buy like 20 different John Cenas. So for me it’s really boring seeing Mattel recycle dozens of the same guy with slightly different attires etc. I get that JC and Reigns etc sell a lot of merch so we are always going to see them in pretty much every other line but can Mattel not give us more variety in terms of different wrestlers some times? Like others have stated we haven’t got a retro Goldberg. It’s unbelievable.
What makes even less sense is we got a few variations of Scott Hall but only 1 Goldberg. I’m a massive Hall fan, probably my 3rd fave wrestler behind Sting and HBK, but wouldn’t Mattel make a retro Goldberg ahead of another Hall? Aren’t they making these figures for kids? Kids would have seen Goldberg in the last two years, not Hall. If their making the figures for us adults then wouldn’t they give us a greater variety of characters first and then recycle them with different paint jobs?
I think whoever is green lighting these figures at Mattel needs to fix up.

I can’t justify spending more than an average of $20 per figure on wrestling figures, there’s no way I’m stretching my budget for these figures + playset combos.

Yeah I’m getting bored too. There’s nothing I’m counting the days for anymore like there used to be.
Why Scotty2hotty? Why giant machine Andre? Why ron Simmons? Why shark and red rooster? Why no elite surfer stings? Why no wcw Goldberg, why no Sherri? Why no greg valentine?

The ring argument is so foolish. Yes it sucks that there hasn’t been a Goldberg in any of the lines yet. But it made sense for them to pack a wanted figure with a larger scale ring as an incentive, because the ESR has already failed at mass retail. And people had been asking for both a larger ring and Goldberg for years....so that made sense. Now fast forward to the Jinder with SD Live ring. Since the RAW ring was announced almost everyone here was asking when was Mattel giving them a SD Live version. And for Jinder everyone piss and moaned how it was a joke and personal attack on their mothers that Vince put the title on him. Nobody liked the guy and everyone said it was the worst title reign ever.
Also before his new figure was shown nobody was asking for Jinder. Now they put a figure of a wrestler that would otherwise pegwarm forever with the SD Live ring that everyone was asking for the villagers want to grab their pitchforks and riot. Now saying any new figure they want will be packed with a ring. Please nobody gave a wooden nickel about a new Jinder figure until it was announced at Toy Fair. But let’s make it like Mattel is taking every most wanted figure and putting it with a new ring. Yes you could say they did that with Goldberg. But nobody was asking for Jinder.
(Waits for all the post Toy Fair Jinder fans to come out of the woodwork)

I've noticed a lot of people seem to be getting out of the game. My question is why does it have to be a thrill-a-minute hobby? I love the lack of pressure to collect who I want and when I want. Jakks were so much cheaper and more plentiful that I found it exhausting trying to keep up, not to mention the massive gap in quality between the RA line and what Mattel has been putting out. Really love where the game is at right now in my 20+ years of collecting. Items are more special, albeit it's very frustrating trying to find anything at retail for the past few years.

I understand this line isn't made specifically for me and my wants. How dare you post here with an attitude like that!
