Jakks did the same thing because that is what the wwe and retailers want driving the lines. With Jakks it was Austin, Rock. Triple H, Undertaker, HBK in most lines because they were the main guys on the roster. Now with Mattel it’s Reigns, Cena, Rollins, Ambrose, Miz & Orton because they are the main guys on the roster. Mattel make loads of Warrior & Macho Man figures too. To be honest, they haven’t made too many Ortons.

You're correct. She was initially going to be sold on matty collector and I believe because of poor sales they moved her to the standard elite line. However if memory serves me correct she was still hard to get, similar to the Outsiders Nash which even though released in the regular elite line he was shipped very minimally per case and many people had to get him online including myself. I think the same applied to Liz. ...that is correct - I think (like Nash) she was only in "B" cases. Which, of course, the UK never got... We seem to get way less stuff than America. It feels like almost all figures aren’t accessible here apart from main Elite, Battlepack & Basic. No NXT, TNF, Flashback, Walgreens Womens or RetroFest for UK.

I agree. Mattel is limited to the WWE Legends deal and we've reached a plateau in variety because of it. We're likely never getting K-Dogg to finish our Wolfpac. We may never even get Hollywood Hogan from Mattel. My biggest 3 wants are Scott Steiner, Raven and Owen Hart. I don't expect to ever get any of those three. So I'm just bored with the line. I actually thought about selling off most of my stuff again over the last month to free up space. I collect quite a bit of other stuff and my passion for the WWE line is just on the decline. Like why are we still waiting on stuff like WCW Goldberg or Retro Diesel? Why are Jinder fans being forced to pay $100 for his updated figure? Why does AE Chris Jericho have inaccurate knee pads over his tights and we've never even had an Elite HBK with heart knee pads over his tights? So yeah... I'm just running out of energy with the WWE line. I can put that money into lines that don't force me to settle every time I see something I might want. We NEED Owen Hart figures. It’s so sad we might never ever get any.

Max Moon Bastion Booger Big Daddy V Gobbledy Gooker Brooklyn Brawler They could make so many ‘oddball’ characters too. I think maybe the Elite line is lacking creativity.

Im pretty happy with collecting. I've become very choosy with what I buy. In the past I bought so much and I ended up with crap I don't need, like 3 Tyson Kidd, 4 Cesaro, 5 warrior, etc.
I still buy all elite Rollins and a basic of each look. I buy all demon balor. I buy all Sasha, bayley and Alexa. I buy any female I don't have already. Other than that, I buy only if it's a great attire, great accessory like a new belt or one I don't have many of, an obvious upgrade over what I have or a guy I don't think will get many figures like d-lo Brown. Saves me a lot of money not getting a ton of ziggler or kalisto or KO.
And I also like marvel legends, power rangers, tmnt, superman, Harley quinn, pops...So I have plenty of other things to occupy me.

Also before his new figure was shown nobody was asking for Jinder. Now they put a figure of a wrestler that would otherwise pegwarm forever with the SD Live ring that everyone was asking for the villagers want to grab their pitchforks and riot. Now saying any new figure they want will be packed with a ring. Please nobody gave a wooden nickel about a new Jinder figure until it was announced at Toy Fair. But let’s make it like Mattel is taking every most wanted figure and putting it with a new ring. Yes you could say they did that with Goldberg. But nobody was asking for Jinder. To be fair, there were quite a few people on here wanting or asking about an updated Jinder figure... personally, I don't really mind that he only comes with the ring - it seems like a good business move (like with the Goldberg figure). And peeps can always get him cheaper loose from the Bay of E if they don't want the ring. I'm more concerned about Goldberg though - I'm surprised we haven't had any more figures even announced... especially given the amount of Hardys and Angle figures we're getting, since their return. I get that they want to sell the ring - but what about all the people who only want a classic WCW or first-run WWE Goldberg? Or just a Basic figure? Really hope we get another figure soon...

I’ve seen complaints about Mattel releasing too much and now not enough? I think they are doing just fine.

I too was an original LJN collector. Had all of them ... gave them up and had all of the Hasbro and Galoob. Also was huge into Jakks. Mattel scale is the BEST. Objectively I felt like Jeremy Pawader was an old school wrestling fan and was passionate about serving the old and new and had similar battles with getting things approved from WWE. Since that time ... more inclusive books including all wrestlers, HALL of Fame growing in popularity, video games etc ... leads me to think that the opening is there for Mattel to get Jeff Jarrett now! Bob Backlund now. Some of the classic 80's and 90's now from both WCW etc ... I am rooting for them. I'm not sure how Toys R Us going out of business is going to affect them ... but again ... I am rooting for Mattel. I loved the Build a figure concept that they had .... and wish it what for elites. That way we could create our own Baron Von Rachke Claw or stubby Kevin Sullivan or Steiners etc or Harley Race. Or an updated barefoot Snuka etc ...
Do you think the molds for Jaaks heads still exist? If so would it not serve Mattel to get them on the cheap and reduce the size a bit??? Put a Ken Patera on a Kurt Angle Olympic body? Harley Race on a Jim Duggan body? etc ...

It's always a bunch of adults wondering why a kids line doesn't cater to adults. I'm amazed and impressed that we've gotten what we've gotten. Guys like Virgil, Shark, and Junkyard Dog. Kids don't want them, they want their current heroes. I certainly only wanted Hogan, and Macho, and Stone Cold when I was a kid. You wouldn't have seen me clamoring for a Billy Graham back then or a Pat Patterson.

Another thing I don’t get and annoys me is character choice. Ok they made Farooq, the Rock, and Dlo. You have the rights to Kama and Mark Henry, why not make them? That would have actually made a solid and good selling 4 pack. Pretty basic attires so it wasn’t s lot of deco and all decently well known names and could have had the first in the line Dlo.
When Mattel makes something new it’s a home run, but the repaints are really taking over. I just can’t get excited for them anymore. Shawn Michaels is my favorite of all time, I don’t even have a desire to get anymore of his either.
I wish Mattel would tie up the loose ends and complete stables going forward instead of releasing repaints of the same 5 guys. I have entire shelves of Warrior, macho man, undertaker, Shawn Michaels.maybe one or two I’m forgetting.
I am a huge fan of doing different gimmicks of the same guy. Tugboat, typhoon, and shock master were all great. The shark and earthquake too were great ideas.

poindizzle Wf Legend, It always amazes me how people on these boards discredits the adults who have a desire for the oldies and history knowing they paved the way so action figures became a thing. These"Old Collectors" understand that the bread and butter come from the 50 cena's and 50 Triple H's for kids. They understand that basics are the best selling line because of the price point for kids ... but the more poseable, elite figures have a higher price point that may suit both. As a kid, once myself I had rubber monkeys that would serve in my imagination as wrestlers in the 70's to play with because the real deals were simply not available. Sadly I never grew out of my passion for wanting the real deal. I remember in 1981 having a speech class at my University and did it on Wrestling. My teacher gave me an A on my presentation but a D on the topic of Wrestling because she lacked the vision of that "fake stuff that nobody cared about". Man, was she wrong. Just a few years later Wrestlemania. I was told to act and write was a long shot and very few could make it. I also didn't listen to that and did pretty well in the industry. So for all of the legend lovers on here who are showing their passion please don't be surprised. They exist and are well aware of the odds ... but when Mattel made the Red Rooster all things became a possibility!!!!! So we will please our passion and hope Mattel listens.

They were a big stable at the time

If they insist on repaints, we should at least be getting an endless string of neon cowboy Savages, Surfer Stings, and mid-90s HBKs.
It's a license to print money that they don't seem to want to take advantage of.

That's the thing, though. In a vacuum, sure the Goldberg figure helped sell more rings. But I'm not sure it made Mattel more money. Would they have made more money putting an exclusive Cena or Reigns or whoever in with the ring, and then releasing a wave of Goldberg figures that would have had wide appeal to collectors AND kids? By now they could have released or scheduled an Owens/Goldberg BP, Lesnar/Goldberg, modern Goldberg Elite, WCW Goldberg EG, single basic Goldbergs, etc. If/when some of those figures are released, they won't have nearly the same heat as when Goldberg was closing out Raw and main eventing Wrestlemania. We're now a year past Goldberg's last WWE appearance with rumored Mattel lineups that should take us close to the end of 2018 with no Goldbergs in sight. We'll never know one way or the other, but my gut feeling is Mattel left money on the table by trying to push the ring.

They could have had $25+ dollars out of me for a DM WCW Goldberg, instead they stuck a modern goldberg with that ring and got zero dollars from me. I'm guessing that was the case for a lot of people.
