What do we think? I am personally loving them, and think every show should be shot like this while we don't have crowds in the arena. Being treated more like a drama makes the silence far less awkward, and I think it's great for character development because we're hearing them talk the entire time without a script. It also makes everything seem more real because you can hear every move and every bit of kit they use to hurt each other.
What do you think?

I hope the people who like them understand why others don't.
I also hope the people who couldn't care less don't try to take the enjoyment away from those who do.
Personally, I think every one of those segments (don't call them matches) needs to be judged individually. There are going to be really bad ones, probably some entertaining ones.
Historically, they haven't really moved the needle yet. The 1st Hardy one popped a big rating, but those viewers left in subsequent weeks and didn't come back. WWE hasn't seen a big return on them either. Time will tell.

Haven’t watched Raw or Smackdown since the empty arena stuff started. Nothing against the work they’re doing just haven’t had the urge to watch. Can anyone explain what these are or link to that Hardy one mentioned?

These segments aren't pro wrestling. Honestly, a lot of crap that people like about what they think is wrestling has no place in wrestling, but the whole thing has gotten away from everybody. They're interesting segments, but they're not "matches" they're something else being done by wrestlers.
They're just going to be overdone and make things harder for the wrestlers to actually make money doing wrestling as it was intended. Something people can believe in and justify. You can believe and justify some pretty strange things for wrestling, but this just isn't it.

I loved what Ciampa & Gargano did last night. It was brutal and very well filmed. It felt like a fight.
I liked the Boneyard Match. It was ridiculous, shot beautifully, but still felt like a movie fight.
The Firefly Fun House I'm meh on. While it was filmed well, it wasn't really a match. And at the end of the day, this is still wrestling. Needed more of a wrestling/fight feel.

WWE is Sports Entertainment. More importantly, pro wrestling isnt really wrestling lol I’d laugh harder during an enema. Pro wrestling is supposed to center around wrestling. That’s supposed to be the draw and everything else is meant to either increase the drawing power or compensate for a lack thereof.

Hence Dark Side of the Ring and shoot interviews being popular. The fight was getting Cena to put over Bray. He finally won.

If they cant have a live audience, then the WWE is going to end up being like a real life version of the WCW Backstage Assault video game.

Looking forward to it. While I don’t wholeheartedly agree with Jim Cornette’s take on these scenes, he has some good points. For one, neither WM billed ‘match’ was actually that. The Boneyard was a fight with a wrestling move or two thrown in. The brutality Taker used on Styles reminded me of Michael Myers stalking a victim at times. Had this been a scene in an actual movie it would be praised as a summer blockbuster. The FFF on night 2 was almost a psychological thriller. The hero was forced to relive failures from his past (while hitting a couple fun rumors from the dirt sheets) to break him down until the villain was finally able to take him down. Cornette said he always felt that wrestlers were better than Hollywood because while choreographed, wrestlers have the disadvantage of being viewed on all 4 sides, not to mention that many nights it’s filmed live. He (and AJ as well) mentioned that a few of these here and there are fine, but if WWE overdoes it, the uniqueness of them will fade to everyone that enjoyed them and they will be ruined. Jim also reiterated Kevin Dunn’s desire to make WWE more entertainment than wrestling, which I’m sure most of us know already. I think Jim kinda liked the Boneyard match as a brawl, but because it would go against the his stance on pro wrestling he had to stick with it.

I think it’s interesting that people were so critical of Lucha Underground for it’s use of cinematic, but apparently wwe gets the slide. perhaps enough time has passed.
I don’t have a problem with them. those that are arguing ‘that ain’t wrasstlin’ need to remember that the wwe was always about sports entertainment. pro wrestling was just a byproduct of that aim. it’s not a trade for matches, but they have their place.

I liked the WCW mini-movies. I liked Lucha Underground. I liked the Ultimate Deletion. I liked all 3 cinematic offerings that WWE did over the past week.
My only concern is that WWE will do it too often. Sometimes when things get a lot of buzz, WWE will over do it and ruin it. Hopefully they don't do that this time.
It's the perfect way to put on a Sting vs Undertaker match. Maybe you put Vader in the HOF next year and have the match in the White Castle of Fear? You can't do another Boneyard match.

The only issue I had with both the Edge/Orton and Ciampa/Gargano fights was the lack of blood. There’s no way guys go through fights like that without some blood. That was the only thing those two matches were missing.
Edge vs Orton was exactly what a fight between two guys 40 + would have. A more grounded hard hitting slug fest.
Where as Ciampa vs Gargano would have more high risk moves added to it.
I thought both were done exceptionally well, but would have been better (more believable) with some blood.

The very basis of pro wrestling is crowd manipulation. If theres no crowd, you dont have a wrestling match. So for the time being, I have absolutely no problem with these segements/matches being on the shows. They are entertaining and keep the shows going during these months where we have nothing to watch.

They're not really my cup of tea but I won't knock them for trying something different. Plus it's not like I'm really disappointed if Undertaker and Bray Wyatt don't have actual matches. *shrugs*
