Roman winning was absolutely the right call and despite the comments on here, Cody is more over than he ever was because of it.

I am so sick & tired of the Cody Rhodes & LA Knight bandwagon. Boo this man. I dance to the sound of your boos.

I dance to the sound of your boos. The fickleness is strong with this one.

I watched it last night as well. It was really well done and I was very surprised the many mentions of AEW and the "workers" there. I knew they would have to mention something about it. But seeing the footage was a nice surprise.

It's fascinating to me that Cody found a way to get the wrestling world behind him as a babyface. I'm sure everyone in AEW was telling him to just turn heel when the fans there were booing him, but he absolutely wanted to be a babyface. He beat the sytem.

He used his EVP privilege to do what he and only he wanted, cut bait and ran. Dude can't handle rejection but is too full of himself to recognize when he sets himself up for it.

He used his EVP privilege to position himself to where he would never be able to win the world title and put numerous talents over in his run. You got him down to a T.

AEW fans would’ve laid over hot coals for Cody to walk across their backs until they turned on him.
Now they don’t understand or won’t admit why he’s so over in WWE.

Leaving out that Cody was aiming to save himself specifically for a WWE title run, cast himself as zinc saucier with the same prestige and double prize money while not chasing a World Title, cast himself in rivalries with no feel for the crowd's reception, and egregiously went over in several feuds Cena-style after repeated rematches. Some of y'all make me realize why I take breaks, I swear.

Still would've had him win it at Mania but I'm enjoying the ride,so it works for me

Man is the most over babyface in wrestling right now and is beating Roman in Philly. Seems pretty cut and dry to me.

Cody boxed himself into a corner in aew, it was blatantly apparent

100%
The knee jerk reaction after Mania was that he should’ve won because he was the hottest he was going to get but he’s only gotten more and more over and established as the top good guy in the company.
WWE was smart with how it went down. The Bloodline story wasn’t finished and there was a lot to go with it and Cody was the risky part, but it makes sense that he didn’t accomplish the story on his first attempt. People rarely do. But the risk of possibly losing fan interest paid off because he stayed relevant and he’s over, and it’s not just because of his theme song like some would have you think. He’s genuinely over with not just children but entire crowds at a sustainable level.

It's definitely the plan they've gone for, no doubt. It's as much about Roman as it is about Cody, and how his universe gradually crumbles away piece by piece, until he has nothing left. It'll be a fresh beginning for WWE once this reign is over. The only downside is that we never got the Roman Reigns vs The Rock megamatch during this run, and if it does happen at a future Wrestlemania, it won't be the peak it could've been if it was sandwiched within the Tribal story. I'm still not overly bothered about Cody being the man to be the one to finish it, but it does seem as though Roman's not going to have any real challengers for his Title between Wrestlemania 39 and 40.

I feel like Jey has been a real challenger, enough to get people to bite on the possibility of him winning. He is gonna fight Solo at some point between now and then if the story goes where it seems to be headed.

Cody losing to Roman has absolutely benefitted him. This year has gotten Cody even more over than just “the shock of coming back” and being the first AEW guy to come to WWE. And the only feud he’s really had is Brock Lesnar… for 4 months.
That being said, I still don’t wanna see Cody succeed anytime soon. The guy took his ball and ran… twice. Once as an EVP of the company. He left WWE because he felt he was better than what he was being given. Debatable, but not many cared about Cody Rhodes at that time. It wasn’t his time. Do we know his actual reason for leaving AEW? Was it him refusing to turn heel? I truly believe Cody’s push is strictly due to being an AEW guy jumping to WWE. I’m just glad they didn’t feed him everything immediately.

Cody boxed himself into a corner in aew, it was blatantly apparent I mean he literally is though. You are even saying yourself that it is not Cena-like. How could you correct him, but then also say he's not wrong? That doesn't even make any sense. rkmo said Cody egregiously went over in his AEW run. That is just simply not true. His entire feud with Darby was set up to have Darby go over in the end. MJF's entire heel run is base doff of turning on Cody and BEATING him. And Cody put Sammy over clean on his way out. I just can't see how he egregiously dominated the roster like Cena.
