Yes, my great grandma had it and lived to her mid 90's. She'd recognize us then a few minutes later be very confused and thought we were her friends then her children, then back to us. So, I have experienced it. There is a huge difference between Alzheimers and the type of brain damage that Benoit had. I've talked to many Alzheimers patients. You don't have to talk to them very long at all before you realize they're not all there. They've (sadly) lost the ability to function in society. Benoit had not lost that ability. Worst case scenario with his injury would've caused major depression and paranoia. But even then it didn't affect him enough to set off warning bells with anyone.

What Benoit did was terrible and disgusting nobody could argue that point. I think the brain damage discussion that has come up over the past few days is maybe a way to try and understand what mental capacity Benoit had at the time he did it.

Well, hopefully some of us will now be maybe a teensy bit less harsh on Benoit as we've been. But to bottom line my whole opinion on this news:
It's an explanation, but it's not an excuse.

I think what happened (If he did have dimentia) was something along the lines of this:
he had an argument with his wife then got confused and killed her, then when he returned to normal he tried to hide what he had done, which is why he spoke to his neighbours and made calls to wwe(probably planning to go into hiding or something). Then he got confused again and killed his son this time when he snapped out he layed out bibles hoping that they would go to a better place then he killed himself(at this point not being confused) because he couldn't live with what he had unwillingly done.

As weird as it sounds saying this, what if he had certain periods of rage\dellusion\psycho..ness and at certain periods he did not? I mean, he might have killed his wife without knowing, came back to a normal state of mind later, and I don't know about you guys but I would sure as hell keep it secret if I killed somebody.. That is, without knowing. My theory is stupid, I know, but I was thinking of that and maybe some of the more mature members could post their opinion on my theory. There is a huge difference between Alzheimers and the type of brain damage that Benoit had. Then care to explain the statement that Benoit's brain looked like an "85 year old Alzheimer's patient's"? That is the quote from the specialist, is it not?

End of story, if there was something really, truly wrong with the guy it would've been solved a long time ago. If he was bad enough that he coldly and calculatedly killed two people, surely the people close to him would have caught on that he was in serious mental jeopardy.
