I love the idea of an off season. Imagine the wrestlers taping Smackdown, RAW, or ECW at what is supposed to be a house show for those off season periods. That way, when wrestlers travel to a show it actually means something.

I think house shows should be cut.

ive never really been for it, but if done correctly it could be okay.
i'll give them like, nov and dec off. move survivor series to october or like the first week of nov as the unoffical season finale. bring it back a week or two into january, with the rumble at the end of the month.

Yes. A small one. The WWE's tradition of "never stopping" is a respectful one, but the wreslters need atleast a couple of weeks every now and then to keep from going crazy. Maybe around the New Year, in the summer a few too.

I do think this should happen, and like what I believe the Global Pro Wrestling Alliance headed by Mitusuharu Misawa is doing with trying to set up a union and pension. I think if wrestlers had something like that, there wouldnt be these problems. An off season with WWE would help. I think that if like one wrestler did something and got fan support to force WWE to do something, it would work. But it probably wont happen.
Thinking about it, people could do what they always do when they want goverment involvement, write your senators. They are the ones who could get government to start questioning WWE and it would be rightfully so.

An off season would benefit the wrestlers. They can get a reasonable amount of time off to relax and possibly heal and recover from the hard work and the busy schedule that they were working previously in the year. Right now they work too hard and a lot of wrestlers die before their time.

Cut down on the PPVs and have one month breaks after big events like WrestleMania, SummerSlam and Survivor Series. So April, September, December, & January would be offseason. February would be Royal Rumble and Beginning to Middle April would be WrestleMania

Definately, i mean 2 months off wouldn't hurt them that bad. Wrestlers could recover from minor injuries and see their families, but it is pretty obvious wwe won't.

They need to slow it down but doing away with the house shows is a bad idea. The house shows come to places that don't sell out when Raw comes to town (Lexington,KY). Without the house shows some fans will not get to see a live event which is a shame. But they do need to change it up somehow.

I agree that something definitely needs to be done, and if it means an "off season" for the wrestlers, then I'm all for it. I also think cutting back on PPVs as well as the number of House shows per week would help as well.
I'm hoping that this whole Benoit tragedy will spark some kind of change in the WWE, like maybe closer attention to prescription meds as well as psychological problems (maybe through an evaluation every other week?).

one idea would be for wwe to create it's own 'asylum' near wwe headquarters. a place big enough to have a large crowd where all brands would wrestle weekly shows...then travel for the occasional house show and ppv....but then of course not only would it stop being the world wrestling entertainment, but a great deal of money would be lost and a great many fans across the country upset by lack of shows...it's the only other thing i can think of besides an off season to help out the wrestlers.

Very good idea, although they would loose out on a lot of money. Think how many shows they would loose out on in a 3 month period, probably around 50 odd. 4 of them being PPVs, 12 Raw's, 12 Smackdown's and 12 ECW's, they'd loose a fair bit, and a load of House Shows.
But, to end the Season at the October Vengeance: Night of Champions, and start it at the Royal Rumble, would be a very good idea.
This should be the New WWE Programming PPV Calender - Start of the Season January - The Royal Rumble Febuary - No Way Out March - Saturday Nights Main Event #1 April - Wrestlemania May - Backlash, UK Insurrextion June - Judgment Day July - Saturday Nights Main Event #2 August - Summerslam September - Unforgiven, No Mercy October - Survivor Series, UK Rebellion November - Vengeance: Night of Champions End of Season
That's 11 PPVs right there, with 2 Special Saturdya Night Main Events leading up to Wrestlemania and Summerslam.
The Season would begin with the Road to Wrestlemania via the Royal Rumble, a clean fresh start. The PPVs would be spread evenly, with 2 UK PPVs and Tours, and no more than 2 PPVs a month.
It would end shortly after the Survivor Series, with Vengeance: Night of Champions, where the Season would Finish with the crowning of all the Final Champions at the end of October.

The off-season should be end season at survivor series and start season at royal rumble. Then they could relax during the holidays. I couldn't agree with ya anymore with that one dude. Exactly what I was thinking ~TheF5ver

I agree. Something needs to be done. Maybe cut down on the amount of shows. Less house shows would be easier. Its a great idea, but they wont do it. Maybe if each Superstar takes time off at different times so that the show can still continue in a yearly basis? Something needs to be done.

Off season should be October - January, so they can pick it all back up at the royal Rumble, then build up to Wrestlemania.

After Wrestlemania, they should give the guys three months off. Also the schedule needs to be reduced.
RAW Work: Friday night, Saturday night, Sunday travel day off, Work Monday
Smackdown/ECW Work: Saturday night, Sunday night, Monday off for travel, Tape Tuesday

There is one way that they could go without an off-season. They do have enough wrestlers to spread throughout the year... who says they have to run all 3 shows at once? They could have Smackdown run for 4 months, ECW for 4 months and then Raw for 4 months. Or they could leave the Raw and Smackdown shows, but just switch out the groups of wrestlers every 3-4 months. This makes the storylines stay fresh and gives them a chance to rest.
