Gotta be Valentine just cause it's such a drastic molding change, and growing up the mystery surrounding it, etc. ... But I gotta say the Brutus that was just found is right up there for me. (I'm a sucker for '93 WWF.) If there were somehow full orange card figures they would maybe go to the top of the list, but because just the heads were made I'd place them after those two.

Hey guys, now that I'm on a mission to complete some older sets and break out my older figures I thought I'd ask for him help with cleaning/restoring figures. I've read some older posts and find most recommend the Magic Eraser. Wondering if people still find that the best to clean scuff marks, etc. Is there any difference in using that on Hasbros vs. LJNs? Any recommendations for each? I get that I need to be careful on non skin-tone parts on both hasbros and LJNs. I had some really good success last night cleaning some old Hasbros but realize I have to be careful because the colored pain can come off as well. Anything else to recommend? I also plan on snagging up some old WCW Galoobs/LJN knockoffs, would the Magic Eraser be the best for those too? One other follow-up -- after cleaning an old Andre Hasbro last night, I tried using a black sharpie to fill in the missing black spots on the figure and it actually looks phenomenal. I don't plan on trying any other colors, but so many of these Hasbros use a lot of black and that seems doable to clean up. Do you guys use a sharpie or paint or whatever to clean up black parts/boots/etc.? Any recommendations there would also be appreciated!

Interesting. I do find it odd that a 4 year old would have kept the card instead of tossing it out. I was 4 in 1986, and was playing with LJN figures at that time. My grandmother, a big wrestling fan herself, kept the backing cards. Then same for my Hasbros. They just stacked up along w/the WWF magazines and other such things, but they were indeed retained. Such an occurrence is definitely not beyond the realm of possibility. I was going through things in my parents' attic the other day when I was there for the holiday, and in addition to getting all of my loose hasbros out of storage (another post someday! ) I forgot how many Hasbro cards I kept after opening the figures. All of my favorites (Demolition, 1-2-3 Kid) were there in a bin ... The best post on this was by Maple800 on page 2, and by his logic I think it proves that this is indeed a prototype. I believe the lower half of Brutus #2 is a white mold. This one, with the paint stripped away, clearly shows a flesh/beige mold for the bottom half. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that sounds about as definitive as could be. In that case, Congrats Zack!

So I was always a WWF guy growing up. I had a couple WCW figures from various lines but never really got too into them. Now that I'm older I get the itch to complete some of these older sets loose to relive the good ol' days.
Is there any consensus as to the best WCW collection of figures? Galoob? The LJN ripoffs? Those look like the two best to me in hindsight, I know Toybiz was later and during the Monday Night Wars but those figs don't look all that great to me.
Any thoughts?

Wow, yeah, I didn't expect the shades either. That's a surprise! So I guess the Mannix bootleg heads weren't actually Diesel Hasbro heads?

Wow! This is nuts. Between this and the orange card heads popping up last year or whatever, we've had an unbelievable amount of breakthroughs like 25 years after this line was originally out, lol. Very cool. He says on Twitter he's offering to Zack, hope Zack gets it!

If Taker has any say, it won't happen. He hated it, told WWF officials "he lost the jacket" when he was supposed to bring it to the following show and never wore it again, lol (all per Bruce Prichard podcast)

Congrats, dude. I wish I had known about the auction before or I might have scooped it up myself, but glad to know it's in good hands!

Happy for those who wanted it, looks nice (even if the arms are way too roided up for Hogan from that era). I used to be a huge Hogan fan but I'm really gonna need a more thorough and sincere apology from him for the racist comments before I buy any of his merch again.

I was a huge Bam Bam fan as a kid. Always loved the guys that could work, even from a young age, and man he could work for a big man. I have two vivid memories of Bam Bam -- the first involved a show at tiny Melody Fair just outside my hometown of Buffalo. Was up in the balcony and I had a sign for Bam Bam, probably the only kid cheering for the heel, and he got pumped and pointed to the sign at one point. Second part, which I totally forgot about until a friend brought it up a month or so ago ... either at that show or another house show there, afterwards a ton of kids/people ran to try and get autographs from a few wrestlers after the show. I was probably 10 or so at the time, my friends were unlucky but I lucked out and got an autograph from Bam Bam. Great moment. RIP!

Hey guys, thought I'd follow the lead of some esteemed members on here and create my own thread for autograph signings. Drove from Buffalo to Syracuse today (6/24/17) to stop by Salt City Comic Con. Was free this weekend and the Con had a good lineup ... some of the lesser-known wrestlers canceled recently but the big ones to attend were DiBiase, Typhoon and on Sunday Sgt. Slaughter will be there. Would like to get Slaughter one of these days but DiBiase was a higher priority, one of my favorites from back in the day. Danny Davis, Bobby Fulton and Robbie E (don't watch TNA so hadn't heard of him) were also there. I've had some really good experiences so far in a couple years of going to these things, so I think I was due for a mixed bag. This turned out to be a mixed bag. I got there around 1:15 and they were in the middle of a "Legends of Wrestling panel" that went from 1-2. Nothing special (and I think I could have done a way better job of moderating than the podcast host I have never heard of, but whatever). It was hard to hear the panelists because it was in an open space and people were walking by/participating in the con immediately nearby. Highlight was when Fulton talked about how storylines are too rushed today because the shows come so quickly, which is something I completely agree with. After that, I went to the tables where the wrestlers were set up. Short line for DiBiase. Friendly and accommodating. Best part was when he took the Entrance Greats figure and said, "Does this thing still work?" and pressed the button to play his theme song. He laughed and said, "I can do a better job than that" -- and proceeded to do his legendary Million Dollar Man laugh. That was worth the trip by itself, lol. As I said, this was all a mixed bag though. Had a couple of figures to get signed, handed him a gold paint pen ... and either the pen crapped out at the worst possible time, or he switched markers after the first figure, or he didn't use it right or something. The Entrance Greats one is passable but doesn't stand out like the paint pen should, and the HOF elite ... well, it's super faded and barely there. This was a bummer, first auto I've gotten that really turned out bad (again, I was probably due after some great experiences). Still happy to meet him and I bet he'll end up in the area again someday so I can get a do-over. Ottman was next. Again, frustrating part -- the promotion handling all the wrestlers seemed to have a lot of hangers on who were too busy talking to other folks behind the tables rather than help the customers. I stood here by myself for what felt like an eternity even if it wasn't that long overall because it was just awkward. Ottman was speaking to a con worker during this time so it wasn't his fault. After he was free, he had to get the "handler bro" to turn around and help out. Luckily for me, "handler bro with an ugly beard" couldn't do math so I saved $10 (4 autos at $15 a pop and a photo, he forgot to add the photo). Ottman was friendly. I had a white paint marker for 3 of my figures and he offered to sign the Shockmaster in his two different colors of paint pens (he had one on display to show what he meant). Sounded good to me. Unfortunately I think these were Decos, which I'm not completely used to, and it took longer to dry than my Sharpie paint pens and I smudged a letter (also smudged a bit of the DiBiase Hasbro cause he signed right at the top where I grabbed it, lol). Also I accidentally took his paint pen for a second after he signed Shockmaster, leading to the fantastic "That's my marker" from THE SHOCKMASTER, lol. (My bad!) We took a photo, he said to make sure I'm happy with it, I said it looked great. Then I said I have just one question for him, thought this would be a good one -- I asked him how close we really were to seeing Sheik Tugboat for Wrestlemania 7. (Legend had it, and Bruce Prichard confirmed on his podcast, that one of the original plans for WM7 was to turn Tugboat to an Iraqi sympathizer to face Hogan. Later they went with Slaughter.) I don't know if Ottman couldn't hear exactly what I asked, didn't want to talk about it, prefers kayfabe, didn't remember or whatever, but he didn't seem interested in discussing. Just said "pretty close ... pretty close." After a pause, I tried to get him to elaborate but he just said the same thing. Didn't think it was out of line or anything but, hey, you win some you lose some. Danny Davis was friendly while I was waiting for Ottman, laughing at some of the bizarre costumes people were wearing as they walked by, asked me about my hat. I was going to get an autographed photo from him afterwards but after Ottman he wasn't at the table anymore. I waited a few minutes before getting the itch to get back on the road. (Next time, Danny!) Glad I went, just wish the DiBiase autos turned out better. Oh well!

Freaking Awesome. (Though I'll admit I don't get Mankind's missing sleeves.) Seriously? Did you even watch wrestling then? The figure is sleeveless because the actual wrestler was sleeveless. Lol ... of course, how could I forget ... oh, wait ... Yup, I have no idea what I'm talking about ...

So for those of you who have it, closer to the WM 4 light purple or WM 3 Pink, or any pink lol? It's ... kind of in the middle? Lol. Lighting makes a difference ... if you look at it up close with proper lighting it does tend to veer toward pink, from far away without proper lighting it looks a bit more light purple. It's not 100 percent perfect but I'll deal with it.

Got Mach today. I'll back down just a bit about some of my previous criticism over the color of the tights ... it's not perfect and I wish it were still a more accurate pink, but it mostly works.

Got some more autos from Sting, Tito Santana and Mean Gene this past weekend in Niagara Falls. TheChamp617 goes into more detail in his thread so I'll just touch on the high points (it was great to meet the owner of the board's best collection). Originally the convention was supposed to have Hall, Nash and Waltman too, and all ended up getting canceled over the course of the week leading up to it, lol. So that was a bummer, three of my favorites. I've met Sting before (and got the 2 DMs and his black/red elite signed) so I wasn't dying to get him again but, hey, why not. He was super quiet and didn't really say anything. (Quick funny sidenote: I only decided to get more Sting autos once the other guys canceled, and it was too late to order a HOF fig online by then ... I was pissed because I love that figure, have it loose. Then the next day while shopping at a Target for totally unrelated stuff, found the last one sitting on the pegs. Fate!) Tito was great. Had a nice chat, mentioned how much I like the older product compared to now (lately I stick to modern NJPW and old school WWF) and he agreed, said the psychology was different back then. Mean Gene was great as well. Didn't have a figure of his (not a Jakks guy) but the 8 x 10 is great (now I wonder if I should get more 8 x 10's when I'm at these signings, lol ... great, more money I don't have). Next up for me is Dibiase, Typhoon and Slaughter in Syracuse later this month.
