Great thread. The Argos catalogue was huge at that time. It took an age to look through but I almost knew the page of wrestling figures. Ultimate Warrior from series 1 was my first purchased. From then on Woolworths with Hulk Hogan and back to Argos with Jake Roberts. Opening the packaging was cool but that worry of losing Damien scared me. Little woods and I think Kays catalogue stocked them figures too. Batman, power rangers, turtles all ruled the roost but Nintendo gameboy ans sega mega drive where cool at the time. I need to own a 1991 Argos catalogue.

Thanks. There’s some excellent UK wrestling shows but I never hear of them. Also comic cons, book signings and random events are good places for wrestling talent so be nice to advertise that.

I enjoy the forum, there’s a lot of decent people who share their interests with mine. The only thing I’d add is a sticky which has UK wrestling signings and events. Ideal place to generate a uk interest in wrestling. Keep up the good work.

screw them. I had my 1988 Storm Shadow graded. It is an uncirculated, unpunched minty mofo! They gave it an 85. It should be a 90 if not a 95. But thats neither here nor there. It cost me $63 dollars to do so. I dont think it's worth it. I only did it cause this was a special carded figure and they screwed me with the grade. People try to sell graded figs on ebay for too high of a price. I stay away from it all together. Agree and a waste of money

So we’ve had a bunch of Retros from Mattel over the last few years. We haven’t really seen anything from 1990-1994 era come our way yet. The closest if anything is Undertaker with purple gloves and Ric Flair. Nothing else has stood out in the perspective. Additions of Max Moon, Haku, Dino Bravo and all that never made it would be cool. But having an alternative Bret Hart, HBK or Macho Man (non NWO) would be interesting at least.

My understanding is that no prototypes were made after series 11 and that has come from one of the directors at Hasbro from that time scale. Ron Rudat in a YouTube interview with ZombieSalor said that 2ups of the Series 12 Orange card figures were DEFINITELY made. 2ups are the first step of the prototype process, to my understanding, which makes your statement incorrect. You’re actually wrong about the documents. So... Zack DID get into the rumored Hasbro vault, I'm guessing? My statement is not incorrect. No full 2 ups were made for series 11 or anything after that. 2up head sculpts were made. As we have seen but not the full body workings. Reason being...Hasbro cut backs. To save money as Hasbro at that time we’re looking at new means in the toy world. I refere to 2ups and prototypes differently. 2ups being the bigger version and then obviously the prototypes standard size. For that how many prototypes of series 11 have you seen? None? Thought so. So why would a series 12 be made. And another thing Ron Rudat had a small contribution to prototypes, as he has mentioned. He was an art designer who drew up some of the sketches after 1991. Doing a fantastic job a long the way. So he wouldn’t really know. Another thing to add here that I’ve been researching other collections recently (Star Wars, MOTU etc) and over the years scammers have got involved forcing collectors to part with thousands. It’s an interesting thing to look at as you notice it’s more than one person involved with the activities. I do believe there is shadiness going on from shill bidding to fraudulently ripping people off passing items as legit. Making today not so enjoyable. As for Luger and Doink. I’m not convinced, the trader seems fair, but not for me. Maybe they were mash ups after series 8/9 which passed through the design stages, linking them with series 12/13 doesn’t wash with me though. I hope they’re legit.

I kinda cringed when I was asked "Do you own any Hasbro prototypes?" It just reeked of "if you're not in dis bizniss, you dont know and should have no opinion" I just asked for why I was flawed, or wrong. But Zack didnt buy either one. Bet if he did, he would require some validation. Which may be why he didnt go after them...but you guys would have to ask him that. I like him and Hawkins, but not on board with their thoughts regarding these figures, until I see something behind it beside the seller's personal story. All of the reasons why these are real will be discussed on the next Major WF Pod. Can’t respond to every single person who asks me a important question that needs a lengthy answer. Oh yeah. I bought Doink. I'll be listening to the podcast but I'm sceptical of these two. For my liking they're fakes. My understanding is that no prototypes were made after series 11 and that has come from one of the directors at Hasbro from that time scale. Are you suspicious of so many WWF Hasbro items reaching us today? There is at least one Holy Grail per year now available. There's fakers in all works of life and I'm suspicious of it happening in the WWF Hasbro circle. Star Wars got hit over the years aswel at Masters of the Universe plus others. For that I'm not entirely convinced with toy graders too. Who knows hey?

I was always under the impression that the prototypes were moulded and painted in the states. So how did these two end up in a factory in China? Who knows though.

Either way, the listing is very carefully worded "Up for auction is a 5" resin hard-copy of Doink the Clown from WWF Wrestling Figure series produced by Hasbro in early 90's. 100% hand-painted by mold-testing personnel, with some parts in non-production colors. (Please note the actual color is a little darker than that of the photo.) In excellent condition. No copyright markings. One of a kind. Authenticity guranteed." It IS in fact a copy of a Hasbro Doink figure hand painted by "mold testing personnel" (whoever made the mold, I guess). Nowhere does it state that it is an official Hasbro production sample, just that someone hand painted a figure. No year of production listed, no chain of custody proof. So technically if you made a resin copy of a Hasbro figure, painted it yourself, and then used this EXACT wording you would be telling the complete truth too! Whatever it is, I hope for the sake of the people bidding that it's what they're looking for and they get their money's worth. I will just point out for the record that these painted figures are showing up now after the colored Rudat sketches have been shown around the internet. If these popped up anytime in the 20 years before the sketches were seen they'd be a much more incredible find. What this guys said is incredible true. It’s perfectly worded. But also adds to my suspicions and many other collectors out their that “something is going on”. I’m Not saying this is legit or non-legit for that, but why has it in the past 3-4 years incredibly rare items have surfaced? It’s almost too much for me to accept. The truth is people’s custom making skills are exceptional today and can easily create such desired pieces. It almost makes me beg for the grading companies to intervene. That way we have some kind of professional body giving an opinion. For the record too. I have stopped seeking out prototypes and test shots because it’s unclear to me what is and what isn’t true. I still love collecting the original line and that takes my priorities.

Has it had its day? It’s a yes from me. I mean 10 years ago or so I was taking note of x-factor, big brother, I’m a celebrity and all that gooey show of emotion. Now I don’t here anyone talk of it, watch it or take note of The crap. I was never a big fan but years back it had meaning. Thing it’s time to get shut. Maybe the whole TV scene needs a change as I’m not a big consumer of it. Netflix, YouTube take over but now and something may catch my eye. Too much of the new millennium TV shows are dying out
What’s your thoughts?
